First time playing Papers, Please. There's nothing more exciting than denying millions and millions of hopeful visitors because they have a typographical error on their passport.
Bam. 4 day crash course did the trick. I went from knowing 0 about network security to being Security+ certified. I was however, lucky.
This course cost around 2k dollars to take and complete. Makes me look at the whole school/college/certifications thing. Seems like there is a direct inverse relation to time v. cost. Taking a 1-2 month class for that likely would have cost a lot less.
Just had my six-month followup, and signs still point to not having cancer, yay. Get to do yet another followup in 6 months, but "no change" is a lovely thing to hear.
The Super Bowl of wrestling, Wrestlemania, is this Sunday and I'll be enjoying it with some friends. The perfect way to kick off the weekend after my work week.
So second day of the kids with the unfortunate teacher. One of my students in my second period finished her work and went on a search for poster board, and now her and another girl are cutting out paper cut-outs and other things to decorate a poster for their teacher to put up front in the class, for her to walk in and see on Monday.
Kids are crazy, but their thoughtfulness and motivation to show that really is touching sometimes. Death is a very scary, strange thing at this age, and for them to grasp it and empathize is just heart-warming on so many levels.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
Such a cutie! But I'm such a yarn junkie that I can't help but say that the yarn for her blanket is so pretty! But are her eyes already browning or is it just the picture?
heee. That blanket is a really neat one - My friend Alexandra made it and she makes her own patterns, this one has music notes in the centre.
And no, Danielle's eyes are just a really really dark blue (like the blanket). My mom said mine were the same way when I was born, and I ended up with hazel/changers. Hub has hazel/greeny-type eyes.
In related news, I find it ironic/moronic that my Nokia -LUMIA- doesn't have a flash for its camera (which is why some of these look so grainy).
Worked my first special event at the new job. I took people on frog hikes, we went to the swamp, caught and looked at frogs. I chattered about the importance of wetlands and gave basic info on amphibian biology, and made frog calls. The stars were out with a sliver of a moon, the frogs were singing, and the guests were enthusiastic. Couldn't have asked for a better evening. We also found a spotted salamander and salamander egg masses. A lot of the kids had never touched a frog before (that has now been remedied).
Yay for liking what I do!
P.s. Bonus, I wore sexy boots.
P.p.s if you find ill-fitting, olive green hip waders sexy
Baby parrotlets! The oldest of the clutch just got big enough to take out into a warm box and start hand feeding. They're so cute and furry and covered in not-quite-feathers and cute and soft and warm and cute.
Awesome 1st date last night, and the girl i went out with texted me an hour after I got home and we ended up talking for another few hours. Setting up a 2nd date later this week
@Tvistor for being a crazily funny guy when he's absolutely smashed
Aurora says, "Tharvis, why are you always breaking things?!" Artemis says, "You are so high maintenance, Tharvis, gosh." Tecton says, "It's still your fault, Tharvis."
