Greetings! In regard to issue 71346, it appears that a small bit of coordinating needs to be done to properly introduce lacquer, so please stay tuned for it's inevitable introduction! For now, it's sadly unavailable!
it's available, just in small quantities in two select locations.
Aurora says, "Tharvis, why are you always breaking things?!" Artemis says, "You are so high maintenance, Tharvis, gosh." Tecton says, "It's still your fault, Tharvis."

Yep, have already spotted it while out roaming for steel.
@Kez Er, from an RP standpoint, it makes as much sense for some characters to simply practice their craft in order to get better at it. Thats as valid a reason as wanting to stock up a shop or supply whatever.
In addition to which, if a serpent contact happens to knock over an arms and armour shop, I'm not going to want to sell his bullshit, I'm going to do the same thing I always did when buying 'liberated' goods and smelt it down and reforge it. Like a -good- fenc.... er, blacksmith would.
Also, a thought - There's no reason smelting has to add to your forging experience. Just throw it back in like it was (half comms back, rounded down) and have it grant no forging experience. Done.
Looks like they also changed your ability to see descriptors in future rankings (and everyone without armoursmithing can only see apprentice now...which makes selection of descriptors a bit difficult for customers requesting custom armour).

I use letters for descriptors in forging and for charges in heraldry, for clients (limited of course to the style said person is looking for).
I don't think having every single armour and weaponsmith to put up an ad is a great idea. It will just clog those up. It's also annoying and inconvenient to have to send a letter to every single person who inquires about smithing. This change favours those who can display their wares in shops.

Who said every single armour and weaponsmith had to? It is not like ads are getting much mileage in the first place.
Messages seem fine for showing people what's available. It might be hard sending a list of every option if you're a master blacksmith, but if you can narrow it down (only the ones for the item they want, only the free/cheap options, only the ones that don't cost steel, even the ones fitting a particular style/aesthetic (although that would have to be done manually), etc.), it should often be reasonably brief.
You could also carry around a journal as a sort of shopping catalogue you can hand to your clients, which lists every descriptor and its costs and other details. Or an ad. There are plenty of ways you can make it work.

Seems like a Forging List Known and Forging List Full would cover it easy enough.

While I personally prefer leaving things to discover, we have been moving more and more towards full disclosure (in no small part due to @Sena ) so I wouldn't have any problem with it either.
And they re-inverted the descriptors. I wish I'd know this before I started forging (Announce on changes, pls @Tecton)?
That's because it was switched the first descriptor into the second slot, which was a bug.
Also, I'm glad that now everyone can't see all the descriptors, and you should only be able to see descriptors up to and including your current Blacksmith rank. It's just clutter otherwise since you can't forge them.

It was motivation for me personally. I looked at all the things I was going to be able to make and thought, "Oh man, I need to rank up." I don't feel as strong a desire anymore. Guess I should have copied the list while it was available.

Smith Rank : Blacksmith (0%)
Hope that's not accurate, though, because I've forged about 200 things since getting to blacksmith.
Still, I like the fact they plan to add it there.

(That decision may well end up being all of them)

I can't think of any reason any sane person would accept any other armour.
