There was a very large force of defenders when we started the attack on Eleusis... then they just logged out/ran away. So really the fault lies with Eleusis just letting their city get smashed instead of actually defending it.
There were eight (on our side) total against a starting force of thirteen that grew to eighteen. Several logged in and were slain on the spot. We put up a defence as well as we could to start, but it fell apart, and then there was nothing to be done. Many QQ'd at that point. We got down to three. Four or so more logged in and were killed on the spot.
Still in the middle of cleaning up the mess so not going to comment much at the moment.

What she said. Just a little back and forth, doing back unto them much as what Eleusis did to us a few days back with the tank room.
Quite a couple of guards were in the way, and they summoned more while
we were killing them so we had to go through them.
Those people who logged on were really unfortunate, in that they logged on before our group. It's obvious to say that the first instinct for people when they see a green name is to kill. I think we got like, Kiah and Ryuke with it. No idea who else.
"Mummy, I'm hungry, but there's no one to eat! :C"
Mako, Ryuke, Kiah, Lothiac. Maybe others? Those four at least.

Handful of totems smudged, tanks stolen (I think), most guards killed, guardian dead, several denizens killed, two rooms destroyed, font was dead when they got there (gg Grondson, don't know why you blew it earlier), three shrines defiled, two Sartan shrines put up (no worldburn though), a few images of Sartan dropped around, some things like pennons and etc. We were trying to summon guards to try a rush when they were in the tank room, but for some reason the guards kept rushing off the moment we summoned, it was very annoying. I don't do guards though.

Well, it really sucks for the people who died early on login.
I am somewhat amused by the posters and pennons, at least they put a bit of effort into it. It's like leaving your house unattended and a bunch of frat boys sneak in.

Completely true. It kinda shows the difference between the two cities as well though, and why we're generally on the defensive. We could muster like 8 dragons for guard raids. Your group had 13-18 people. Difference in number of people that really wants to pvp and "win" is too great for Eleusis to come out on top against Mhaldor.
No doubt Mhaldor had a much larger force of raiders/combatants at the end of the war than Eleusis did, and if we let it keep going that would just spiral onward. Eleusis had to back out of this war, but we also had to do it in a way our characters could "live with". (No giving away forests or lives to the Evil god) So when mechanics lets us back out of a war whenever we want, not when the opponents lets us, then we'll do that.
I still think it's been interesting, lots of political upheaval in eleusis, lots of new kids stepping up and showing what they can become if they keep at it and also lots of complainers that are now totally identified and marked!
Now is Mhaldor gonna step up and declare war against a city more equal to their current size/might?
(plz, would totally let me work on targossas/hashan hostilities)
Like how about we fight over areas (forests for eleusis), villages, fog generating fountains, areas/forts on nishnatoba, PVE areas (instead or in addition to city guards), propaganda (village/city influence abilities in the other cities?). PVP areas that are always open, PVP areas that open at specific time intervals that will spread out over all the timezones.
Basically a point based system, when one of the cities reaches x amount of points they win. Objectives can detract the opponents points, capture points, generate points, etc. Duration of a war should be approx. 2 weeks. Both cities should always have to agree to the war for it to be initiated.
Preset custom RP war/loss conditions: Admins custom make stuff based on war outcome.
Examples: orests being corrupted by evil, fog spreading, darkness covering the world for x years, ashtan wins a hole to the void opens in ashtan and swallows their citizens who have so long awaited their inevitable union with the nothingness, the Bloodsworn sets the world on fire, Cyrene builds a dam across a river and changes the landscape(kills nature) to create industry and progress, etc.
Possibility for cease-fires, draws if the city leaders both choose to do so.
etc.. something better than the shit we have to work with now.
Given Eleusis declared the war first on a city (Mhaldor) that appeared to be severely over what they can handle, I could say the same!
To demand Eleusis to cede a forest territory was an arbitrary term I threw in to make discussions interesting RP-wise. To ask for lives was a generic term that was meant to spur creativity. Sure, if may be ridiculous terms for Eleusis but there was a an opportunity for you to work with modifying them. Instead, you took my last, equally ridiculous offer and counter-offered it to me. :[
Also to clarify, our group that turned up was not all comprised of dragons. Only 8 of them are! There were also names of those who had merely come back to Achaea and wanted something to participate in.
"Mummy, I'm hungry, but there's no one to eat! :C"
I'm just going to make an observation and say that it is not simply "my side" who 'whines' because "RP negotiations broke down". I could give you names but I suspect that they wouldn't be happy that I did.
Regardless, now you can clearly focus on your aggressions with Targossas!

oh we know, have heard their whines loud and clear.
Mhaldor should get to temporarily destroy a forest with fog for this victory. And likewise a piece of the mountain can get a mini forest were they to lose.

Or can kill Erato forever. Fk that guy.
Here's the rub though, what victory?
There is none for either side, because there is no proper mechanism in place for identifying victory. Sorry, no, opinion does not count here.
And another thing, a war should not last longer than a major world event. Honestly, world events last an RL month or so, two cities having a punch-fest, should not take that same amount of time.
Yes, if I was playing a Mhaldorian, I'd be miffed as well.
There are a lot of things that need to be fixed here, and game mechanics isn't half of it. From an RP perspective, there is a lot that can and should go into a war.
This war though, from my perspective, is actually the cause of one person who didn't quite understand the monster that is Mhaldor nor the mechanic that is war in this game. Yes @Ravien, both IC and OOC, I don't believe you thought this one through. I find it frustrating that you have not actually addressed the people you are leading IC, nor have I seen any kind of explanation for this on the forums. Before this is over, you'll see more Eleusians leaving the village and quitting the army. If @Ravien retains the seat of speaker much longer, I'd be very surprised.
Eleusis might now have stopped the war in a technical, very OOC way, but I honestly don't see how this is going to change the situation.
@Sarapis & @Tecton We rally need a balanced war system, and there needs to be a way for Eleusis to not have the shaft up it's but all the time. Seriously, there needs to be some kind of mechanism to make war between cities, much less of a one sided affair. There is so much potential for incredible game play here, but you will never be able to keep a city like Eleusis in a war, when it's player-base has zero abilities to fight back.
I'll say it again, if you want to attack a city, you should attack that city. Not a 1400 room front, that can be attacked at whim without threat.
To be fair, we destroyed several Mhaldorian rooms, including the bank, tank room, captured all their tanks and killed 30 guards over this past week during off hours, not with 16+ versus 2-4 odds though. If incompetent people didn't waste the font unnecessarily and we had a few more of our core around, yesterday's outcome would have been preventable.
This war was handled really poorly and dishonourably by Ravien with no prior thought going into the mechanics behind exterms in relation to our RP and underestimating the side effects of declaration of hostilities when a number of Eleusians were inactive. I hope something good comes out of this.

Mephaos tells you, "Mhaldor has nearly all of their combatants in Eleusis' tank room, if Targ wants to muster up and go into Mhaldor."
I don't know why he thought we'd raid when Mhaldor has people logged on, doesn't he know the counter to soulspear?

This game seriously needs a proper war mechanic, if we want to have war be something that can be enjoyed by everyone.
When an entire group of players are avoiding playing the game because of another groups abilities/actions you have a failed business model.
I am so deeply sorry we could not live up to your quality of war interactions. We will strive to make it more enjoyable for you in the future.

Yea, officially.
