Enjoying digging into things, doing quests, digging into random bits of stuff I stumble across to trigger interactions, is a lot more fun than power grinding... and somehow I level faster than when I power grind.
I couldn't figure out how to crop -and- embed the video, so my apologies for that. @Rhivona and @Aurora, you two might find interest in 1:03-1:18.
The Divine voice of Twilight echoes in your head, "See that it is. I espy a tithe of potential in your mortal soul, Astarod Blackstone. Let us hope that it flourishes and does not falter as so many do."
Aegis, God of War says, "You are dismissed from My demense, Astarod. Go forth and fight well. Bleed fiercely, and climb the purpose you have sought to chase for."

Who knew the Minister of War couldn't handle a teeny, tiny spider?

I present, for your reading entertainment, a story that shall be called, "The First Bounty of Synthus" ( Complete with pictures )
---
For someone's first bounty, it's usually a good idea to pick someone around your skill level, someone whom you think will make a good opponent and will be an educational fight. This was not the case for Synthus, who had obviously suffered from head trauma earlier in the month as he decided that for his first bounty, he was going to pick a fight with the biggest, toughest, meanest opponent he could think of. Going over the bounty boards, Synthus found a name that stuck out among the rest, a name which caused great inner turmoil amongst the facets of his psyche.
The Panic of Synthus says, "RED ALERT! RED ALERT! We're about to do something stupid! ABORT, ABORT!!!"
The Logic of Synthus says, "Panic's right, this is stupid. We shouldn't do this."
The Pride of Synthus says,
It was then that wee Synthus reached out to his first potential bounty target, asking if they would accept a duel, and low and behold, they did!
You tell Aegoth, "Good Aeguary to you, Exsusiai. There is a Cyrenean bounty filed against you for raiding the city. Would you be willing to duel for it?"
Aegoth tells you, "Very Well."
And thus did the inner turmoil grow.
The Panic of Synthus says,
The Logic of Synthus says,
The Pride of Synthus says,
And finally, when all was said and done, the result was to be expected.
- 2020/06/02 06:40:14 - Synthus has been ground to dust by the arcane might of Holocaust King Aegoth Aristata, Consul of the Wicked.
---
tl;dr: Did first bounty, picked @Aegoth for it, guy was a total gent. Really sorry again about the knife sigil, I didn't know that was considered rude during a duel, my apologies.
Still had a blast and learned a lot. Also, 2% exp loss for a starburst is A LOT easier to stomach. Sadly my logs didn't save, so I can't go back an analyze what I flubbed, but I look forward to future duels.
^ This. People will put healing runes down, vibes, harmonics etc. a Knife sigil should be the last of his worries given how strong he is The only issue I've had with duels is a serpent hypno'ing me before we started as "I'd just do it when we started anyway"
Kudos to you for taking it, trying and learning. It's really nice to see Cyrene progressing in that area these days.
Don't worry about what aegoth says is rude during a duel.
Ah, apologies, I was a bit sleep-deprived/delirious at 3AM when I wrote that and don't want to give the wrong impression. Aegoth never actually said that dropping knife sigils was "rude", more just asked that I didn't do that cause it was aggravating. I inferred it was a rude practice from that, like sketching up all the rooms around NoNT with nairat/wunjo before a duel would be. The last thing I want to do is put false words in anyone's mouth.

Much appreciated! I'm glad and proud to see that Cyrene hasn't let that flame die out in them either over the past IRL year that I was gone. There are a lot of really promising combatants that I have had the pleasure of sparring or defending with in the city. I do want to start poking the proverbial beehive with bounties and duels though so that I don't solidify bad practices, plus, you learn more that way.

You'll soon learn that 99% of people that fight will not show you the same courtesy.
Today I've made the decision that it's time for me to leave Targossas.
Love the city, love the people, but given the death of the one who played the God I really came to love in a lot of ways it's become honestly too hard to be there and not be reminded. And it doesn't help that the new Aurora is just a constant reminder. Not that she takes any blame at all, mostly a personal issue for me that's irrelevant to whoever plays that role, but it's still there.
I've heard people say that the way she held personal relationships with mortals in the role of a Divine was a negative thing, and I can see why. I'm leaving a city I've been in since before my youngest child was born because I can't stop seeing her all around me when I'm there. That is certainly a negative thing as it's impacted my ability to play the way I believe I'd have wanted to.
But, on the flip side, there aren't many things I will miss or remember over my interactions and time spent with Aurora. When I eventually give this game up as I get older and older, and my children become teenagers and adults, I doubt I'll remember almost any of the raids I took place in, or most of the events that took place. These are all fun and all but it's the relationships that I've built with people that really stand the test of time. And the thing that stands head and shoulders above the rest in that department is my time spent with Aurora over the course of...7-10 years, since I've lost track of time.
Playing pranks on novices, just chatting for no real reason, flooding the post office with thousands of letters just to be an ass, as well as the more serious conversations that took place both IC and OOC following the cancer. Countless memories that I will recall as if they happened yesterday, but also countless reminders of someone the world has lost, and a dear friend that I miss greatly.
To the people in Targossas that are still around and consider me a friend I'll miss you all and I love most of you (not @Astarod), but I know I'll keep in touch often. @Sothantos, @Achilles, @Tesha, @Archaeon, @Halos, @Issam, etc etc. Would get too long if I listed everyone.
Lastly, to the new @Aurora, I wish you all the luck in the world. I know it was difficult to choose this role given the history of what happened and I think it took tremendous courage to finally be the one to take the chance. And, selfishly, I hope you won't destroy me too much when I leave the Order!
@Micaelis I saw the post and, while I was gone when she became a God, I still have tons of fond memories of her as a player. It suuuucks that someone with so much love and enjoyment for life had to get sick. She is/was amazing.
Not as exciting as all the other things that have gone on for folks, but after some RP and care and breaking of learned patterns, and healthy foods and stuff, Meriet has slowly become less grey-skinned and grossnasty, bit by bit, so I figured it's time for a desc update! She's no longer corpsedwarf! (I'll have to commission a new picture eventually, some months from now when I have funds again.)
She also got an old bad-memory tattoo tattoo'd over. [I'm not a great writer but I'm practicing, I deliberated over this for like 30 mins and probably will edit little bits or cut out fluff, but this is fine for now before I sleep.]
This is now how you appear: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She is a stout dwarf, though diminutive, even against others of her race. This coupled with lines of ingrained fatigue around her aquamarine eyes hint to some stifling of growth in her formative years, whether disease or simply malnutrition. Her body is thoroughly scar-riddled from the neck down, though most of those markings - being far older, now, and mitigated with recent years' health and tending - are long-since faded to nigh-invisible against her roseate skin. Below the waistline, an angular left ankle bears a stick-and-poke tattoo of a black shackle strung taut. Seared in the centre by fresh inked magma, this old sign of slavery is burnt apart, the chains broken, smoldering, the flames of freedom anew still bright as the day they were traced. Shorn short on one side, her scarlet hair flows down from the other to rest at her shoulders in a splayed feminine sweep, with a few speckled-white flowers woven into the locks here and there, blooming in a humble display that compliments her complexion.
While sailing, I lost five monster spawns in a row from going too far away. Keeping proper distance is hard.
You gotta kite, dude. Tight circles!
Dude, sailing is hard. Give me a SHIP KITE command to do it for me >.<
The Divine voice of Twilight echoes in your head, "See that it is. I espy a tithe of potential in your mortal soul, Astarod Blackstone. Let us hope that it flourishes and does not falter as so many do."

Super happy excited, proposal happened for Ryssa and @Synthus
Long version with all the fluff and cute:
You say to Synthus in a silvery voice, "Okie, so... though--."
You nod your head emphatically.
You say to Synthus in a silvery voice, "I--."
Synthus tilts his head curiously at you.
Ryssa fidgets a little, wings flitting.
You draw a deep breath.
Quirking his head for a moment, Synthus reaches up, cupping your cheek with his head.
You say to Synthus in a silvery voice, "Though I am interested in your progress in your studies of course, I was also trying to gather my thoughts."
Synthus smiles softly at you.
Synthus says warmly to you with a Theran accent, "I've also known you long enough to know when you're nervous about something. Deep breaths love, what's on your mind?"
Ryssa blushes, her eyes uncertain but bright as they meet Synthus’.
Brushing your cheek with his thumb, Synthus gives you a soft smile before leaning in to kiss your forehead.
You say to Synthus in a silvery voice, "Well... I... no matter how time may move, or what happens in this world, I... I can't imagine it without you there."
You say to Synthus in a silvery voice, "I want... I want to stay at your side, through thick and thin, no matter what.."
You blush furiously.
You say to Synthus in a silvery voice, "We've been together a long time, and, I guess.."
Still with his head quirked, Synthus listens to your words, his brow furrowed with confusion. Sudden realization dawning on him, his head straightens up as his eyes widen and his hand trembles on your cheek.
You say to Synthus in a silvery voice, "Do you want to take on whatever fate, time, this world, whatever may be thrown our way... together?"
You ask Synthus in a silvery voice, "Always....?"
You draw a deep breath.
You say to Synthus in a silvery voice, "I guess, what I'm trying to say is.."
Synthus says to you with a Theran accent, "Rys... a-are you asking me what I think you're asking me?"
You say to Synthus in a silvery voice, "I love you, and, yes, I want to marry you."
You ask Synthus in a silvery voice, "Do you want to marry me too?"
Synthus presses his body warmly against yours, tilting his head to place a tender, passionate kiss on your mouth.
You blink.
Synthus says to you with a Theran accent, "Yes, a thousand times yes."
The corners of your mouth turn up as you grin mischievously.
You lean into Synthus and kiss him long and tenderly.
You take a silver and fiery ruby pendant from a shady green backpack.
You say in a silvery voice, "Then, well..."
Stretching in a fiery arc that embraces the world, the triune rings of Achaea blaze in response to the first kiss of dawn.
You get down on one knee and, while holding forth a silver and fiery ruby pendant, you declare your eternal love for Synthus, and ask him to marry you.
As the first hint of daylight breaks through the night sky, the Cyrenian Clock Tower chimes out a gentle, low din, heralding the arrival of dawn.
Synthus, with a look of utter joy on his face, accepts your proposal of marriage.
You stand up.
Ryssa giggles softly, her mirth sending a rippling ruffle though her feathers.
You run up to Synthus and envelop him in a massive bearhug.
Synthus runs up to you and envelops you in a massive bearhug.
Today is the 19th of Lupar, 831 years after the fall of the Seleucarian Empire. The phase of the moon is that of the Waning Gibbous.
It is late summer.
You give a trillingly melodic laugh.
Synthus removes a fire pendant.
Synthus puts on a silver and fiery ruby pendant.
You say to Synthus in a silvery voice, "With dawn is our new start--."
The corners of your mouth turn up as you grin mischievously.
Synthus smiles softly at a silver and fiery ruby pendant.
Synthus blinks.
You look over at a silver and fiery ruby pendant being worn by Synthus and see:
A pendant of silver and fiery ruby hangs about the wearer's neck from a delicate chain. The small links are joined just long enough for the pendant to rest upon the breast bone. Not much bigger than a coin, the pendant is styled as a mismatched pair of wings wrapped around a marquise cut ruby of flame. Upon closer inspection, the wing to the right is that of a dragon, tiny scales carved into the metal, whilst the left is that of a bird, the feathers painstakingly brought to life. They surround the gem in an ardent embrace, frozen as their tips brush the against the other to protect the fire secured within. Inscribed on the back is a single word in flowing script, 'Embersong'.
Synthus tilts his head and listens intently.
You flash Synthus a joyous smile.
You say to Synthus in a silvery voice, "Do you like the pendant? It was kind of from the one we talked about in letters in past."
Synthus says to you with a Theran accent, "I never shutup, for even a moment, and here I am, without a word to say..."
You grin mischievously at Synthus.
You lean in and rub your nose playfully against Synthus's before placing a gentle kiss on his lips.
Synthus smiles softly at you.
Synthus leans in and rubs his nose against yours in playful circles before placing a gentle kiss on your lips.
Synthus says to you with a Theran accent, "I love the pendant, my sweet sparrow."
You beam broadly at Synthus.
Synthus says to you with a Theran accent, "We should get you a matching one."
Synthus smiles softly at you.
Synthus says with a Theran accent, "Just like we spoke about in the letters."
You grin and nod.
You smile and say softly in a silvery voice, "That'd be wonderful."
Synthus says with a Theran accent, "I'm just... I..."
You flash Synthus a joyous smile.
Wrapping his arms around you, Synthus embraces you in a tight, warm hug. A light chuckle escapes him, mixed with an emotional sob.
You blink.
You give Synthus a compassionate hug.
Synthus says apologetically to you with a Theran accent, "Sorry, sorry..."
Ryssa wraps her wings around Synthus with a hug, smiling.
Synthus attempts to compose himself, chuckling softly as he does so.
