When a player makes a decision in game, the result often comes to forums, and people pass armchair judgment. Opinions are good things to have and normally this is fine. Extra special attention and criticism is often pointed at the player leaders of your various factions and organisations, these people do a lot of work and are open to more criticism due to their exposure as leadership. This is often healthy for all involved so long as it remains constructive.
Good leadership isn't easy, it takes time, it takes a great deal of care, and it can take some serious courage to step out on a limb and make changes as you try to do the best you can for the org you run and the people you work to create a gameplay environment for. Leadership is almost always thankless, we here on the forums almost only ever see the problems and very rarely their successes.
Very recently a lot of unpleasantness was levelled at Ryldagh after one side of a dispute was aired here. It's rare I do this, but having been able to work with all involved to create a form of resolution, I'd like to take this time to clear Ryldagh's name. Had any other leader been placed in the position he was, I'd wholly expect the same result. He was not stalking anyone, he was not being a "creeper", and he was not abusing OOC knowledge or enacting some vendetta. Ryldagh was presented with information in an IC fashion and acted upon it in an entirely reasonable and justified manner.
The internet offers us all a lot of opportunity, to do good, to do nothing, or to do horrible things, all behind a curtain of what we believe is secure anonymity. In a community like ours this does not remove us from repercussion, and jumping immediately to pitchforks and hatred against one of our community based wholly upon the words of another, no matter how virulent or loudly they are declaimed, is not good for any of us.
Perhaps next time you see someone's character being reviled, place yourself in their shoes before taking up the fire and diatribe against them.
Our community is a special one, many of us have been here for well over a decade. Despite our various factional lines, we've celebrated graduations, births, mourned losses, and helped one another in countless ways together. I'd be hard pressed to find another group of people quite like you in any other online game.
tl;dr Achaea is a better world when we are together as a community and at odds in character.

Invariably, the 'injured' party will miss out key facts when recounting their side of the story, so I for one am glad to see the record being so publicly and unequivocally set straight.
