So that's what that feels like.
WHAT. Obviously being from a different city I didn't know her super well, but I really liked her. why?
Tristyn was dormant anyway though, and only came back to retire afaik.
Laniara was not getting along with a lot of citizens, which seemingly led to her retirement. It's probably for the best, ultimately. I hope she enjoys herself better where she goes.
Hmm! That is surprising to me in a lot of ways. As Farrah said, it was pretty obvious it would happen with Tristyn, but Lani.. she was just talking with me yesterday about making Alchemist and Priest work well together, we were planning on hosting public Academy events, and other stuff. @Laniara , I always enjoyed our interactions. Even though sometimes we didn't get along (I think we're both the same personality type or something) I definitely consider you a friend. I hope you find enjoyment wherever you go!
Sad to see @Laniara go, not that I really interacted with the person, but it was one of a handful of people I've actually interacted with from Targo, and it was always delightful! Best of luck to wherever you land.
People who spend reasonable amounts of time in Achaea and do nothing to contribute, I can understand. People who can only hop on to check messages, or who are entirely dormant? Youre just shooting yourself in the foot at that point.
Kicking people who refuse to contribute and are active is perfectly reasonable and fine to do. Dead weight might as well be a dormant person, after all.
...Kicking people who're dormant (regardless of the reason they are), is just ridiculous. Maybe if you have a lot of house members going dormant, you should try and analyse why that is (provided it's not just life happening).
I'm gonna agree with Shayde and Sobriquet. You can pretty much guarantee they're just gonna find a house that doesn't boot them for going dormant, if/when they do come back.
While I don't disagree with those who don't like the ousting dormants/mostly-dormants (it wasn't my choice of policy), Laniara was, as I understand it, one of the impetuses for the policy (she was upset with people not contributing and a proponent of ousting them). So blaming her retirement on that is a bit silly. Some people are trying to throw shade at Targossas for literally everything.
"All those quizzes on CT are stupid! I'd hate to have to deal with that. Targ is terrible."
"People shouldn't have to contribute because playing Achaea isn't a job. Targ is terrible."
"Person X who was hosting those quizzes retired because people weren't appreciating them! Targ is terrible."
"Person X who was pushing for punishment of those who didn't participate retired so Targ is terrible."
I've heard a lot of contradictory complaints. Every city has its problems though.
Basically, if you want to criticize the policy, fine, but don't use Laniara's recent retirement (or any other retirements) as part of your argument, as it shows an utter lack of awareness of things. No, our city is not suddenly mass retiring, and the retirements that have happened have not had to do with any of the aspects of Targ being criticized.
