Although @Daeir has it the best, I'm almost certain the shadow dragon is made from literally his dragonformed corpse. And I can't think of any other silver dragons who had their corpses taken by the 'teth?

He is a Black Dragon, obscured in a shifting nebula of blackness. Squirming restlessly across his entire form are serpentine coils of black, ambiguously slithering beneath translucent scales and betraying the colour of his soul. Colossal wings protrude from his body, extending perpetually with outreaching shadows. Materialising and dissipating from head to tail, rows of inky spines protrude menacingly along his back, promising pain to those unfortunate enough to make contact. Keen, obsidian eyes, sit above his long, flattened snout and stare, unblinking, from his imposing visage.
