Memorable quotes, people. Or @Silas gets to test the new prototype Targossas Guillotine/cliff jump death sequence.

    Oh wait...

Is that the one where the victim gets tossed off a cliff, and midway through the waterfall, a perfectly-aimed chainlinked blade shoots out from behind the curtain of water, decapitating said victim mid-air?

<3@Talysin. Taly is pretty reasonable and gets on with most. He's the bomb.

@Halios, I'm afraid you can't be part of the grief + gank crowd, which you seem to aspire to sometimes, and also part of the reasonable crowd who treats others decently. Join the Eleison-sponsored initative of "don't gank, yo". Free cupcakes.

I have no idea why some Eleusians are so sensitive about this. I've literally been through hell and back with several of the Good-faction Gods, most notably Pentharian and Aurora, and while it's definitely shocking and can be easy to be taken personally, all you really need to do is take a step back and think about this from a roleplaying perspective. So Gaia called you out. So what?

    [snip]

I swear, I'm beginning to wonder if Gaia is wasted on Eleusis. She is an incredible God any faction should be exceptionally thankful to have, and all I've seen from the majority of the faction is spitting in her face, and I'm goddamn sick and tired of it
Here's the thing, from my perspective. Please bear in mind I'm not anti-Gaia whatsoever. I've had barely any interactions with Gaia IG. If she's got plans for Eleusis, and wants to make a big splash, turn things around, whatever, that's fine. I know there are players who dislike Gaia, I've heard them talking, I tend to ignore it because I don't care, I just log on for the PvP, not the politics.

My problem is that I don't disagree Ravien needs to step down. She barely logs in anymore, and as others pointed out, she's been Speaker for 7 years now. That's a really long time. However, as you said you're sick and tired of people spitting in Gaia's face, I'm also sick of people spitting in Ravien's face on Eleusis' boards and on the forums, making it sound like she's some horrible leader who's so full of mistakes and ineptitude that she's single-handedly holding Eleusis back from some great entity its destined to be. That is a hysterical notion.

I pray our next Speaker can handle crap like daily Mhashtan occupations, offer morale support to both ritualists and soldiers so nobody feels one is favored over the other, and all the other stuff that comes with IG leadership with the dignity that Ravien has over the past 7 years.

TLDR: If you want Ravien out, just point out that she's barely active. Don't rake her over the coals for perceived imperfections, when she's been one of the most level-headed IG leaders Achaea has ever seen.
One does not necessarily relate to the other, as I'm not only speaking about Ravien, but rather a great majority of Eleusis.

That said, don't feel comfortable discussing the rest of that here. All I'll say is, any issues I bring up ICly, in public or private, are always logical, respectful, but blunt and truthful. Anything else, we can discuss somewhere else!
And I love too                                                                          Be still, my indelible friend
That love soon might end                                                         You are unbreaking
And be known in its aching                                                      Though quaking
Shown in this shaking                                                             Though crazy
Lately of my wasteland, baby                                                 That's just wasteland, baby

Honestly, I don't think anyone I've spoken to thinks or has said that Ravien did or does a -bad- job. The war was a bit problematic, obviously. It was a self-inflicted problem that still confuses me at this point. The thing is, 7+ years is too long to hold a position in a game. People love to say "nobody wants the job" or "nobody can fulfill the job" but that's a load of crap. There's always someone who will do it. When players go dormant or just don't have time to dedicate, there's always a void felt but the game goes on and people fill the empty slots. Sure, sometimes replacements are terrible. But then they are also easily replaced, but at least in giving others a shot. Bad job or good, you're offering a chance to change things up and stir up different ideas and perspectives. It's a game, it's not a real life job that anyone is depending on for their lively hood.
Main point being, I've never heard anyone say Ravien did a bad job.

  • I've been HL for ~a year and a half now, probably time for a change soon (though I will never admit that in-game, it's fun being the boss :D)

That's really not how you interact with an all-powerful being ICly.
This is the only thing you said that bothers me. There's no right or wrong way to interact with anyone ICly. Everyone interacts in their own unique way. Some people are god fearing, others are more relaxed and skeptical of the gods. Why push one agenda on everyone when there's a plethora of unique, fun ways to interact? All-powerful doesn't mean invincible or even not vulnerable to mortals. @Cresil did a fine job with it, and it sparked something quite memorable and, much more importantly, something that impacted the world. It's amazing that @Gaia recognized that and went with it instead of doing what everyone assumed would happen. That's what makes RP great, is that nothing is ever as cut and dry as it seems. It's a shame that you're "disappointed" by this and think there's a specific way to interact with Divine.
If you're Mhaldorian and you're relaxed or sceptical around the gods, you're probably doing something wrong. Even around gods you dislike, it'd be absurd to just treat them like another person since your whole society is founded on the power of the gods.
I have an excuse to be relaxed around most gods. When you've routinely kicked back beers with Phaestus for a few centuries, the line between divine and mortal gets a little fuzzy.

EDIT: for the most part though, agreed with @Silas. If 'respectful contempt' makes any sense, that's how I see most Mhaldorians reacting reasonably to other divine (i.e. you may kill me, but my Master can destroy you).
