It's cool Eleusis, I will be your new Speaker. I will post all Eleusian Council affairs on forums and belittle and insult anybody who dares to disagree.
Alrena can be my mouthpiece in game, since logging in is overrated, and Rangor can take over the world for your new God-King.

Make it happen, Gaia.
Only if we get a public execution method that involves shooting people with a catapult.
Gaia's reaction, while interesting and unusual, was so incredibly fucked up from an in-character perspective. This is the god who mostly everyone looks up to in Eleusis. And she's standing here -letting a little Mhaldorian prat who's so full of himself (in character-ly speaking) that he's got the nerve to attempt to brand a god- even get close enough to her to touch her, let alone brand her. He disrespects her body, her godliness, her village, her people. And what does she do? Tell him to gtfo? Bitchslap? Say 'silence, dummy' and squish him? No, lol, she agrees with him.
Right up until I saw that, I was really not understanding why everyone is leaving Eleusis. I think I get it now. Why would anyone in their right mind want to fight for, or respect, or be represented by a god who behaves that way? We just fought and died like a billion times to the best of our ability, while entirely unprepared, and with 80% (that's a made up number) of our forces whining and moaning and not cooperating, but we did our best. Those of us who stuck around, that is. And she just...
Ugh. I hate this so much lol.
I really like playing Eleusian, and don't want to leave the city. Nobody tell Kiah about this bs please, kthx. (if you try to I swear I'll find 100 different reasons for why Kiah didn't hear/didn't understand/couldn't read what you said)
Okay so, I'm being told the above post is inconclusive/unclear about how I feel, and since the edit option is gone... I have an addendum aka tl;dr for clarity's sake.
I sent @Cresil like 20 messages telling him to do it. Thought it was a great idea, assuming he would get zapped 10 times.
Was a great scene having been standing there. Glad I was a part of it (we were all there for a debate beforehand) and wouldn't change it if I could. @Gaia handled that great imo, and may have been the catalyst for change in Eleusis.
Instead of leaving maybe people will contest and try to make it better, if the leadership is the issue.
Penwize has cowardly forfeited the challenge to mortal combat issued by Atalkez.
"This was bad RP because you did it to a God without planning it beforehand"
and more:
"This was bad RP because you used an 'unstoppable' item without any pre-flavor that would allow meaningful interaction"
Props to Gaia for rolling with it!
Even with an "unstoppable" item, Gaia could have turned the tables pretty easily had she wanted to: her immortal skin mending itself and the branding backfiring on Cresil, zapping the ever-loving bejesus out of him x20, truedisfavour, maggoting, silencing, customized punishment, etc.
If Gods don't want to play along with whatever it is you're trying to do (regardless of whether or not an attack "hits"), it's not going to happen, and they have all kinds of ways to make that painfully clear both IC and OOC. Furthermore, Achaean Gods ICly are demonstrably not infallible or invulnerable. Although they are immensely more powerful than even the strongest adventurers, a character who himself has a God in his corner (or believes he does) dramatically defying an opposing God is still realistic (though very rash, of course).
Whether or not anyone thinks it's bad form doesn't even matter at this point. It happened, Gaia responded. It's done. Stop condemning it and just move the hell on already.
I am retired and log into the forums maybe once every 2 months. It was a good 20 years, live your best lives, friends.

Gaia, the Wildwood Queen says, "Perhaps you shall do what I cannot. Bring about the end of her pitiful reign."
That was a cool reaction to Cresil and all, but if that last line was about Ravien...I know some of the players are upset with her, but could the Divine of our faction not drag her through the mud too? Yeah, she's been less and less active, and probably need to retire if thats going to continue, but she's been a pretty great Speaker for a long time, hardly a "pitiful reign".
This post can be ignored if that wasn't about Ravien.
It was about Ravien, and the entire recent history of interference in this manner is beyond disgusting.

Is this thread about to turn into another "2-3 people in Eleusis attempt to pass their negative opinions re: Gaia as the opinions of the whole city"? Those are always humorous.

Well, it could be Gaia hating on Ravien the player, which would be bad. But it could also be Gaia setting up some internecine opposition in a way that hopefully has the potential to be fun for Ravien and her supporters as well as a not-so-subtle suggestion that somebody else needs a shot at Speakership for once. I'm not Eleusian and have no alts there, so I don't know. But I hope it turns out to be the latter.
I have no idea why some Eleusians are so sensitive about this. I've literally been through hell and back with several of the Good-faction Gods, most notably Pentharian and Aurora, and while it's definitely shocking and can be easy to be taken personally, all you really need to do is take a step back and think about this from a roleplaying perspective. So Gaia called you out. So what? What would your character do, how would they respond? What makes sense? Was the God right? If not, what should you say to respond? If so, how do you plan on handling that gracefully (or better yet, how do you plan on responding to it as your character should)?
There is an incredible amount of potential for anyone who wants to face this, and it is not every day you get to be put in that kind of a position, speaking from experience. Gaia handled that in a fantastic way, and all I hear from most of the Eleusians is bitching, whining, and drama in unpleasant places.
Stop taking things so personally, and take some time to consider, then roleplay. If you can't not take it personally, perhaps you shouldn't be in a position of leadership (or as the case may be, making your voice so loud and clear when you don't appreciate or wish to work with the situation).
I swear, I'm beginning to wonder if Gaia is wasted on Eleusis. She is an incredible God any faction should be exceptionally thankful to have, and all I've seen from the majority of the faction is spitting in her face, and I'm goddamn sick and tired of it.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
Ravien's a nice girl and all, but she's been Speaker for at least like 5 rl years now given that I'm sure she was Speaker back when I was Sultan of Shallam, and I've not exactly seen Eleusis make great waves in the last few years.
I'm sure she's steady and popular in Eleusis, since I imagine people know exactly what they're going to get from her; but even if somebody more dynamic wasn't needed, I think holding a position that other people are bound to want for that length of time is a bit silly and selfish.
According to the Achaean Wiki, Ravien took over as Speaker of Eleusis sometime in Achaean year 445. 1 Sarapin 445 converts to 3/11/2007. Considering ~13 days in an Achaean year, she became Speaker sometime in March of 2007.
You either resign a hero, or you lead long enough to see yourself become the villain.
That's like the only post I've seen you put up that doesn't have math in it...not going to lie, it's disturbing.
It's fairly close to prepositional logic, which could be seen as an especially simplistic form of mathematics, with the primary difference being boolean quantities (true vs false) instead of numerical quantities.
Resign -> Hero Not Resign -> Villain
Of course, that doesn't express the "lead long enough" bit, which would be some sort of vague date expression, so I guess it does have some numeric quantity to it, eg.

I hope so too, Ulrike.
I haven't been in Eleusis since the beginning of the year (2014, not whatever year it is in the game) so I don't know all the details, but from what I hear it is more likely the former rather than the latter.
I too would support and applaud the latter.
The former?
Well, that would suck.

Nice job on this, to both Gaia and Cresil.
Literally went from an interaction between @Cynders and I to a 20+ person gathering a NoNT like the old days. Really fun.
@Gaia showing up to watch and all that occurring was just icing on the cake, as far as I'm concerned.

So, about 7 years now.
Resign -> Hero
Not Resign -> Villain
Of course, that doesn't express the "lead long enough" bit, which would be some sort of vague date expression, so I guess it does have some numeric quantity to it, eg.
((Resign date - Reign start date) < X) -> Hero
else -> Villain
Or, in short, there's totally math in that statement, it's just especially algebraic and abstract math!
