What is the formula used to calculate amount of hits needed to get a break on a limb in general?
@Kellonius has done a bit of research on it I believe.

Did forest def speed get ninja increased? It seems like either they're hitting more often or I just haven't woken up enough.

Tharos, the Announcer of Delos shouts, "It's near the end of the egghunt and I still haven't figured out how to pronounce Clean-dat-hoo."

I have not come up with an exact formula, but I have a spreadsheet with hundreds of data points for when limbs break at specific weapon damages and so on.

  • There any way to check how long a character's been around, see if they're eligible to receive retirement creds?

    Bone Shrike
    Luthian Rock Cavy

There's a shitton of them, ask @Magnar for some.  I sold him a ton.
Unfortunately Magnar retired his character. Was a nice guy the few times I did business with him. I do have the shrike and cavy, @Prythe got me the shrike. :) Thanks for the info, though. Glad I'm not super behind on those.

Not planning on it any time soon. If I was, I wouldn't be looking for the latest minipets. haha.

  • Is there a means to gain wood outside of buying from villages/cities? I see a ton on the Delos commodities market, but I'm not sure how it all gets there.
  • People get it from Zaphar where it's cheapest (iirc), then sell it for a profit on comm market.

Is mining profitable? Also, how likely will my noob legion get repeatedly wiped by a bigger mining legion?

Very rarely, your initial ivnestment is usually a loss and you have to build up to anything decent.

    Also, very very likely.
    Huh. Neat.
  • KryptonKrypton shi-Khurena
I'm telling you it's unprofitable so you'll stay away and the rest of us can still be barely profitable at it.
  • It isn't profitable at first. You're probably going to sink at least 1 million into it before you get true profit and become sustainable.

Can guarantee that you'll get hammered on at the beginning for sure though. Artanis is a massive dick regarding mining so we make sure to hit  Eleusis miners pretty hard.

Proficy also has enough legions to pretty much erase anyone he wants and make them start over from the beginning.

  • AhmetAhmet Wherever I wanna be
Someone forge letters from Artanis to Proficy and vice-versa so tbey destroy each other and we xan rebuild from their ashes.
    Huh. Neat.
  • i'm having trouble with in mudlet with an alias that calls a function in a script.

without going into too much detail with the script, here is the error I am receiving.

    [ERROR:] object:<semi-auto jab> function:<Alias847>
<./mudlet-lua/lua/TableUtils.lua:101: bad argument #1 to 'pairs' (table expected, got nil)>

anyone know where I can find the error or what is going on? If you need more information, I can PM you the script.

  • Whatever function you're trying to call, is trying to reference a table. When it searched for that table, it didn't find it. So something is going on in your initialization of whatever that table is.

    I think.

Penwize has cowardly forfeited the challenge to mortal combat issued by Atalkez.

Atalkez has the right of it. Check for typos in your script, specifically where any loops are opened. It's most likely a typo or a mis-case in your table name.

    ^ Precisely this. @Exelethril
Expensive to invest in, and depending on how you pick your lodes will determine your profit. If you stick to coal and iron, you'll rarely have anyone poke you though. It also depends on what you plan on doing in mining that will also determine how competitive you are. If you just want some gold to jingle around, coal is always a good chunk of change. However, if you plan on being rankings competitive, hooo buddy, better start buying them qwindorium and silathyst.
  • Coal has dropped in price and is not profitable unless you find a huge or massive lode, and even then it's barely breaking even.

There are very few lodes that actually make you a profit anymore, people are -extremely- stupid at pricing the commodities they sell.

Iron and obsidian will always lose you gold, ice won't make you any gold. Gold and platinum make next to nothing. Gems are okay, but no one buys them so they are fairly worthless. Bone is okay on large or bigger lodes, but no on buys it, so worthless.

Between there being too many people mining right now and people who don't care about keeping the market healthy, mining is only worth it for people who are already mega rich and can be patient about selling. Oh, and you have to be willing to spend 30-6 minutes a day at least looking for lodes or you won't ever get the good ones.

  • Thanks Cooper for talking me out of considering trying mining. I'll waste my time with something else... maybe sailing. @Bann, wanna be my Co-Captain?

Frankly we're basically in the same situation for comms as we are for gold. There's too much and nobody seems to want anything to do with it.

Having said that, certain things get used far too much, like silver. Silver is big in the fantasy community for any number of reasons. Even when admin make things that require commodities, they inevitably go back to silver like a dear old, extremely expensive friend *stares at phylacteries*

  • Eh, it wouldn't be as big a factor if miners wouldn't be willing to sell things for substantial losses. But yeah, its a matter of math and accounting which many people are unwilling to do and so many miners are willing to just put gold into the system instead of making a profit.
