ah finally the argument has taken a spin to the interesting!
Concerning the shape of the world of Achaea, since we (our characters) live in a world inhabited by immensely powerful beings (Gods) that have the capability to easily fly into the atmosphere and above, I personally would presume that it was simply a given since speech was a thing that it was passed down that 'worlds are round'.
Unlike our own Real life existence upon Earth, where we did not have such immense capable beings around to ask "So...what shape is the world?", and had to rely on technology, Achaea simply does not need to.
Edit: This could also be used as reasoning in a later argument as to why Achaeans would have little care or drive to further Technology. It comes down to the age old debates of Magic vs Technology lifestyles.
That is not an ordinary star, my son.
That star is the tear of a warrior. A lost soul who has finished his
battles somewhere on this planet. A pitiful soul who could not find his
way to the lofty realm where the great spirit awaits us all.
Actually... more like approximately 1 seconds. Tried a couple times (maybe it's latency from me).

Any idea about Achaea's business stats? I'm doing a presentation in Game Design school about Achaea. Relevant stats might be:
Total active players
Total unique players since 1997
Annual revenue
Average spending per unique player
Average length of player retention before dormancy
etc.
I imagine some of this is confidential information, but... Has this been answered in a thread somewhere? Or can @Sarapis & Co. provide any illumination on the topic?
I like my steak like I like my Magic cards: mythic rare.
Active players / Unique players is about all a lot of companies give out. Which he's right, many companies do this (albeit often skew the numbers a little in their favour)... The others, yeah I doubt that'd happen.
It's pretty public and standard stuff for big games.
It is public and standard stuff for publicly traded/owned companies that report to stockholders and the like and use numbers such as revenue/spending/growth to drive stock price.
Iron Realms is a private company - no one has any more rights to their financial records as one has rights to the financial records of a private citizen.

Yeah I figured. But I wonder if boasting a bit in an interview somewhere would help convince non-MUDders to try out their new MUD when it launches. IRE makes the biggest of very small games, after all.

If Sarapis was to do an interview of any form, it would probably be about all the innovation, features, and spaces created within text-based games over graphical games. Which is smart, because that is how you do attract players.
Gamers, as a whole (in my experience) don't give two shits about the overall size of a company, how strong its bottom line is doing, or how the company thrives (financially) within a niche industry. Instead, they care about what they do for their customers, what they do to make their games awesome, and just -what- about the game(s) make them infinitely entertaining/playable.
IF you approached Sarapis with the idea of interviewing him with that angle, he may point you to previous articles, or he may be willing to share his passion about what makes text-based awesome.
Just retired my final character on MkO. Email got sent to me just now includes this:
"The character must be less than 30 RL days old."
Is there any way the 30 RL day rule could be waived for MkO retirements, since it's shutting down and all, and there's really no choice of the matter? @Sarapis@Nicola@Makarios edit: remembered a name*
