Strength doesn't make any difference at all for serpent hunting. Going from 18 to 19 dex will make a big difference.
So is garrote a set damage base? Garroting more is the dps upgrade?
works out well since 19 dex should put me either at lvl 1 dirk or mac forged for pvp i think.
Garotte speed and damage are both based on dex, it increases both.
Thanks! Do any other classes benefit from dex like serpents or are they the only pvp/pve dex offensive class? I have hunches but i'd rather ask then assume

Dex does not increase garrote damage, only speed (and only against denizens; dex doesn't affect garrote in PvP). The only things that affect garrote damage against denizens are whip stats and subterfuge skill level (and universal things like Ethian empowerment and criticals of course).

They're the only one.
Thanks! Side note- is your avatar your own drawing? I love it!
I'm trying to customize an artefact I don't yet own because I'd like the delivery to be something a little more significant than walking to Delos. Would I do this through customisations@achaea or artefacts@achaea ?
Does anyone know the fastest you can get the SnB's Slice/Smash for hunting?
With a forged 119/164/182 longsword, a buckler, and the Nimble trait I can get it down to 2 seconds flat. If I'm on someones harms I can get 1.9. I'm assuming I can make it faster by buying a level 3 longsword, but how much faster will that make it?
@Makarios would be able to confirm, but I recall somebody mentioning not long after the Knight changes (so beginning of the year) that there's a hard cap on combination speed; I'm not sure if that's 1.8 or 1.9 seconds, but with a level 3 longsword I think you should be able to use a slightly better shield (banded?) without sacrificing any speed.

The fastest it can get normally (just artefacts and nimble, no additional modifiers like canticle) is 1.9, but that doesn't mean that there's ever a point where a higher level sword or faster shield won't give any benefit. You can continue to get faster up to L3 longsword and a buckler (which is 1.926s with nimble). The difference between L2 and L3 longsword (or between any two adjacent longsword levels) is negligible though, artefact longswords just don't improve your speed a lot. Going from forged to L3 will reduce your balance by about 0.1s.

Oh wise Sena of the Math Tribe, what would my speed be with a level 1/2/3 longsword and a SoA, if I may humbly petition to inquire.
Not entirely sure which is better though I've always heard lash. level 2 with 17 dex is a 1.3s balance with nimble though, so I'd imagine level 3 would be around 1.2s. With a good crit rate the crits are amazing at that speed.
For forged or L1, whips and lashes are pretty close (considering PvE only). Whips have a bit higher DPS (not enough to matter in most cases) and accuracy, lashes are faster. For L2 and L3 though, lashes are much better than whips in every way except for the slight accuracy difference. This is the same at any dex.

Love my lash. At 19 dex i'm almost at 1s i think
That sounds right, I was at 1.1 borrowing someone's level 3 dex boots.
