They've given out those new icons to those who redeemed them. And apparently if you get 22+ Honor recommendations, you get an honor badge that shows up on your Champion portrait.

I've started playing, but am only level 7 right. Slowly but surely, it's starting to all make sense.

I don't normally play solo-top... but when I do...

... I get stuck in a 2v1 lane and still manage to dominate. Yeah, this was my first time playing top in a -loooooong- time. And our Alistar rage-quit in the opening minutes because mid-leash accidently took blue.

And apparently their Ez raged about halfway through the game(maybe because he couldn't get kills on me?) Oh, right, the two against my one were Ezreal and Riven. I actually dreaded this game, because the last time I played top(which was most of the time I played before I started trying mid and adc) I was doing horribly in the role.

What champions would you recommend people get for more competitive play? Both for solo-queuing and for team matches?

Well. The current metagame comprises of the following:

ADC - Ezreal, Corki, Graves (popularly known as the Holy Trinity)

Top - Jayce, Yorick, Olaf, Irelia, Malphite

Mid - Orianna, Karthus, Diana, Evelynn

Jungle - Skarner, Shyvana, Lee Sin, Maokai

Support - Sona, Alistar, Blitzcrank

Frankly, almost all champions are as capable as these flavor-of-the-month ones, as long as you can handle them against the matchups well. Daklore, for example, does really well as Twitch, who is considered the weakest ADC in the game.

I don't call myself a good LoLer, but I do occasionally enjoy a game or two. I range from doing pretty f-ing bad as an ADC to being average on jungle to support. Decided to play around with Sona again. She's one of the first champs I took up. I think I'm doing pretty okay now:

I am not dropping ... what was it again, 3000 RP? on a skin. On a -single- skin, anyway. I don't even own Ezreal anyway.

More than that. And it's actually a Theme. As you level up, the Champion appearance changes, as well as attacks and armour. He's currently the only champion that has a Theme.

Yeah... I'm so horrible with Ezreal, usually play Alistar support or Darius Solotop.. but slowly learning hehe! just the theme made me try to get it, my wife plays Ashe so is "kindda" the same build.

Any idea why Ezreal is a bad mid? I love mid with him but everyone says is horrible hehe.

It's because the meta sheep say he's ADC, which is bottom lane with the support. Meta sheep blindly follow the "meta" which isn't really set in stone. A lot of people think it is, and if you go against it, you're either trolling, or bad at the game.

Case in point. Erasariel and I usually run an unconventional ADC and support set-up. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But when it doesn't, he's trolling because he's not a standard support. And when we do well, we're "lucky that worked."

And that is why Ezreal is a bad mid, because the meta says he can't do it. He's capable at mid, it's just usually better to put the AP carry in mid because they usually don't have an escape, and mid-lane is the shortest distance between turrets.
