    @Jovolo will probably kill me for this repeated use of anectodal evidence, but it certainly almost never seems to take my client-side 250ms to cure normal afflictions. 125ms does seem to be about the average it takes.

    So in other words, it's a 250ms delay?


    It is simulating a 250ms latency, not 125ms.  I'm confused as to how this is supposed to simulate the "average" player's latency.  There's no way the average player is getting a 250ms ping.


    250 ms ping (ping is round trip, not one way)

    125 ms - Affliction passed to client [Client sends cure]

    250 ms - Cure sent to Server  [Affliction now marked as cured on server side]

    375 ms - Client receives confirmation of cure

    Passively doesn't mean invisibly. Vibes are both passive and visible, for example.

    Just to help clarify a bit more because that's an easy mistake to make. Game slang doesn't always translate literally to real life so I get the confusion

    Active is something you do directly that typically consumes a balance of some kind.

    Passive is something thar you prepare beforehand and periodicially hits your enemy(s) independent of your input and balances.

    I wasn't just talking about Magi either ("metawake on if not fighting priest/apostate")
