WAIT WHAT?
You got beckoned.. I don't think you ever realized what happened and thought your guys rushed our guys
So what's the affliction potential for the different classes out there now?
As sentinel I got venoms every 0.7 secs on throw balance. Passive butterfly+lemming. + Darts if someone chases me. +targeted so limb breaks after 6-7 econds.
What's the serpent/occie/knight/apostate/shaman/alchemist affliction per second look like these days?
Occie with tfang: 7 afflictions/4 seconds. Occie using instill: 6 aflictions/4 seconds.
Knight: 6 afflictions/4 seconds.
Apostate: 6 afflictions/4 seconds. +spikes heavily in a ten second period if hunt and/or nightmare are usable.
Shaman: 5 afflictions/4 seconds.
Alchemist: 3 afflictions/4 seconds. With a tfang or torc it would be significantly more. Around: 5 afflictions/4 seconds, not including fluid.
I assumed fastest unartied attainable speed across the board for all classes. If you factor in darts, Sentinel should have the highest affliction rate, if you get a very fast handaxe. I didn't take that long to painstakingly work it out so feel free to correct.
That's literally what I put up there, except you reduced it to aff/second. It's easier to match it over a period of 2 to 4 seconds (or even up to 10, because of tree balance) because it's more comparable to actual balances (i.e. Shamans afflict once per 0.9 seconds, but Knights afflict twice per 2 seconds) alongside herb balance. When you break it down though, you're right, it's roughly a second per affliction.
Alchemist: 3 afflictions/4 seconds. With a tfang or torc it would be significantly more. Around: 5 afflictions/4 seconds, not including fluid.
Why is that exactly? You can only wrack after educe based abilities. I'm not even sure how you're getting 3 afflictions every 4 seconds. At the start of the fight you can manage 1 affliction roughly every 2 seconds, assuming you don't educe anything with a longer balance than wrack. Later in the fight with truewrack that goes up to 2 afflictions roughly every 2 seconds.
It's hard to see how a torc or tfang would help much unless they're significantly faster than a 2 second recovery time, and even then they'd have to be faster than a 1 second recovery time to beat out truewrack.
With a Thoth's Fang and nimble, you can fit 3 jabs in for every temper (~1.5s balance, about the same as wracking a specific affliction on a tempered humour), without needing any tempered humours first, and while doing damage and having a larger pool of afflictions to choose from. So the affliction speed itself doesn't change, you can just reach that speed faster and do more with it. That's 3 afflictions every 4.5 seconds.
I'm not sure on the details of the torc (or mind paralyse/stupidity).
If you inundate phlegmatic, you can increase your affliction rate (to 4 afflictions every 4.5 seconds, or 3 afflictions every 4 seconds), and tempering choleric or phlegmatic can slow the opponent's curing a bit.
all this talk about Thoth's Fang makes me wonder how effective occies/alchemists would be with Thoth's Fang (+ Asp) in a combat situation
Aurora says, "Tharvis, why are you always breaking things?!" Artemis says, "You are so high maintenance, Tharvis, gosh." Tecton says, "It's still your fault, Tharvis."
It's 3 per 4.5 seconds with Wrack, technically 5 if you include truewracking tempered Humours, but with the latter you become out of sync with Temper balance, delaying fluid upkeep. A torc allows you to use mind stupidity at I believe 0.9 seconds (or 1 second, rounded). Combine that with Thoth's jab or Mind paralyse (1.4, maybe 1.5) and you can reach aforementioned affliction levels with no prep.

As we've said! Very effective. Both classes benefit greatly from a Thoth's fang as you can see from the extra affliction every 2 seconds (not to mention additional damage and limb prep possibilities). Without Asp - it's better to be able to select your afflictions than gave Loki.

asp hides the venom message 1/3rd of the time though, so 1/3rd of the afflicts the victim won't even see

Asp won't take effect if the weapon has already been envenomed, so the affliction delivered via the 1/3 chance for Loki message is uncontrolled by the user unfortunately. It''s better to just not spend 750cr on it and select your afflictions yourself.
If Asp worked the way Tharvis thought people would actually buy it, and it would be gloriously overpowered. Unfortunately it's total garbage.
I only know of two knights who have/had weapons with Asp: Xenomorph and Caine (with an e, not Cain). Caine's reasoning was literally "because it's available to buy."

2s: 2 afflictions
4s: 2 afflictions
Apostate is 2.05/2.1 with nimble so I just rounded down.
