Temporarily disabled the healthbar and mobarena plugins due to excessive ram use on the server. Not sure what is causing it 100%, but it might be a good idea for people to clear out animal/mob farms they never use. Fairly sure the healthbars might be the cause of the lag uptick though.
Were you seeing server problems based on staring at the status bar in the fragnet console or was did you deduce a degradation in performance from actual, you know, gameplay (you would have to login for that). You might get better resolution be investigating stuff inworld rather than lazily deactivating plugins.
imo health bars and the mob arena are fine and reasonable. I think your guess about mob farms was probably closer to the mark.
To start with, take a look at the iron golem farm near spawn which is currently churning out hundreds of villagers. Going anywhere near that overcrowded ghetto causes a slowdown for anyone in the vicinity, you can tell that with even just a casual flyby. I think it's Grandue's but don't quote me on that. I'm just guessing here.
Thanks for looking into it, Kazu. I know it aint easy being a server admin.
A frenzied cleric screams, "Like more than one halo!"
I'll decrease my village back to it's prior size. Also, if someone is able to save builds I would like for my treehouse, witch's tower, and trainstation to be saved. If not that is fine.
Sorry, I haven't had access to my computer for a while (am on another). Should be fixed by Mondayish. Thank you @Kazu. Not sure if you want to keep doing the server admin job on a more permanent basis, but I'm bound to stay unreliable for some time thanks to babies costing money. Donations are still closed for the moment unless someone else can take them up - I've got just enough for the next three month period in December and then I'd like to bow out of admining completely if possible, simply because I can't be here reliably.
If there's anyone I've missed for whitelisting, PM me and I will have it fixed ASAP.
Also, have no issue with a reset!
"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to? You will never find that [everlasting] life for which you are looking. When the gods created man they allotted to him death, but life they retained in their own keeping. As for you, Gilgamesh, fill your belly with good things; day and night, night and day, dance and be merry, feast and rejoice. Let your clothes be fresh, bathe yourself in water, cherish the little child that holds your hand, and make your wife happy in your embrace; for this too is the lot of man."
Actually, we could go ahead and upgrade to 1.7 if you guys wanted to, but we'd have no plugins until the official bukkit release. That's not really a huge problem, but it would mean creeper explosions, no dynmap, and you'd need to hide your chests. Just something to think about.
It'd still be a few days to give everyone a shot to protect what they want. It would help if you guys could go do that -urge-. I'm looking at a ton of maps atm trying to find one that has all the new biomes in it. It's honestly a good thing we are switching, because I'm having a hard time finding one on a whole new map that has everything. I'll post a picture of it once I find a good one. Some biomes are only going to have like 1-2 on the map though.
Ok, finally got one that has pretty much everything. There might be one or two rare variations of some rare biomes it might not have, but overall I think I have it all covered.
Orange=desert cyan=swamp grey=extreme hills red=mesa purple=mushroom island white=ice plains pale green=plains olive green=jungles pale brown= savanna green=forest dark blue=deep ocean
These aren't exactly perfect, but I'd like to note the map size is roughly 10kx10k, which is what I had intended to put put us at.
There are: -2 Mushroom islands -3 jungles -Several savannah, ice plains spikes, and the new variants on taiga and extreme hills -2 mesa biomes -1 mesa bryce biome (Please only build here if you REALLY want it, extremely rare biome) -Tons of villages
I'd recommend putting everyone putting your items in the storage areas. This includes anything in your inventory, because it will all go poof otherwise. It's also a good time for anyone wanting any builds copied over to let me know. I know Grandue and Keralyn want stuff, but anyone else? I'm looking to possibly change the server over on Wednesday-ish. Can move that deadline up or back depending on how you guys feel about it.
Also, tagging @Seldin because I forgot to in the other parts.
I wouldn't mind what work I have on my castle to be copied over, somewhere. I guess. I'd love a place near a village, since I had one already (I'm not counting on it, and I don't know if I'll be in any time soon to look around and find a place to claim, though.) I think about everything I wanted to transfer over is in the storage area place thingy. I'm a packrat, but I don't really care much about most of my stuff in the long run ^_^;
When Canada rules the world, things will be... nii~ice.
Death to the Mooshrums! Hopping on now to store my stuff. I probably won't start playing again until after the reset.
Edit:
Essenstials stored! I also set up a chest for free redstone since I find a lot of it during mining. If anyone doesn't mine and wants to take some with them, feel free, bc it's great for creating things to hide your stuff.
They are right inside the nether from the spawn portal. Just take the double ladder or railway.
Also, for those having builds copied...you won't see them until a week or more after the 1.7 release. I won't have the plugins I need to copy them back into the world. You could be looking at a month without the builds.
With a known thief among us why are we planning on switching over before things can be protected? I don't want my stuff to be stolen by whoever that asshat is.
Switching because -nobody- is playing pretty much. Everyone is waiting for 1.7 to come and reset and basically just doing nothing. It's a huge waste of $$ in terms of just having the server sitting there with nobody using it for a month.
As far as the thief goes, you guys should have your items stored in the lockbox. I'm the only one who can open those and I'll open yours up whenever i'm around if you want. Secondly, there will be no dynmap. The thief is going to have a hard time finding your base unless you tell them exactly where it is. Last, you can always use safe methods to simply store your items. I recommend just have your chests randomly buried somewhere. It's what I'm going to do. Better yet, store all your items in an enderchest. The thief can't access your personal one, and I'm more than willing to give everyone a free enderchest at the start for this
So basically, once we switch over only you will be able to open the rooms and no one else, even though Lockette will be gone?
EDIT: Although I am working on my thesis, one of the main reasons I haven't been on is actually the fact that we're switching and doing a reset, so I see any future work on this current world as a waste of time. :P
It won't be available until the official 1.7 is out. Add on another week...so probably 2-4 weeks in total. And yes, I'm the only one who will be able to break bedrock, so I should be the only one able to open the vaults. I'm going to break the doors before we switch and bedrock them up.
sounds good to me, I am waiting for update my self since I have limited data to use to get on, and on another note... I'm due in 6 weeks so I might not make it back online for a while... Baby gonna come first, but I still love you guys
Let's just do it already. You've been telling people to transfer their stuff for a while now and no one is playing so I'm assuming they aren't playing because all of their stuff is stored and they don't want to build anything because they'll lose it. Lets just do it now.
So after Grandue and I spent the last couple of hours moving everyone's stuff to the nether...we decided to send the world out with a bang! Here is the result. I had intended to record it, but the tnt ignited as soon as I rejoined. Had no chance to record.

One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one's work is terribly important
