Keep in mind if you keep your stuff in chests you can protect it by adding a sign to it with [Private] on the first line. It is case sensitive, so don't make the mistake I did and use [private]. Also, this can be used for -any- container type, be it chest, furnace, hopper, etc. Also, you can add other player names on other lines of the sign to give them permission to access it. If you run out of space on one sign, you can add another one to another side of the container with [Other Users] on the first line, and then the names below. Keep your stuff locked up and protected, so that even if someone breaks blocks to get into your place (like someone did with my build), they won't be able to get anything.

  • I just spent entirely too much time and entirely too much redstone making a completely hidden door to my house.

It is awesome. That is all.

  • I'm wanting to make my chimney smoke. Does anyone know how far fire has to be away from wood to keep it from catching aflame? Also, how does one post pictures?
  • KresslackKresslack Florida, United States
3 block rule, 4 to be safe. Also, you can make a smoke pattern outside from the chimney using cobwebs. You'll need silk touch shears to get them.

  • Server doesn't have fire spread enabled either.

  • To post pictures: Hit ... uh... F10? F12? If all else fails, prnt scrn(print screen, that's just what the button on your keyboard will look like. It's usually located next to the scroll lock key if you've never seen/used the print screen button before) and paste into paint or some other photo editing program and crop/save.

Goto imgur.com. In the top left, there's a little shockwave or java or something button for upload. It has an arrow going up or something, I don't have it open. Click that, find the file on your computer, upload. On the next page that loads, click your image to get only that image on the browser. Copy the link in the browser bar. (it should be an i.imgur.com link)

On the forums here, along the top of the text input bit here where you'd type, you'll see a picture almost to the top-right. Click that, paste the link you just copied. It helps to have two tabs open so you can quickly get the link back in case you goof up or it didn't copy right.

Voila. You've inserted an image to zee forums. Make sure you go to the actual image in imgur and not just the gallery page. The link from the gallery page won't load the image here, it has to be an i.imgur.com link.

  • It's F2 for me to take screenshots. Some other key removes HUD for nicer pics.

F1 removes the hud. I wanna say F6 also changes to 3rd person views.

  • What happens when a mineshaft and a stronghold collide.  Thanks for the information guys. Still working on that clocktower at spawn, but I promise it will be legit. image

Oh, also, since we don't seem to have mimi-map capability on here, if you do F3 it will show you a lot of information, including what level you're mining on, but also the light levels.

Fairly sure minimap is a client side mod. I suggest you look into Rei's minimap.

Also, @Keralyn are you making this a working redstone clock? You might want to be careful with stuff like that. Can seriously lag a server.

  • No, just a timed chime was the only redstone work I was planning on. It's a work in-progress. image
  • Sucks that it's taking so long for 1.7 to get here. Will prolly be another month before it's released. Granted, the snapshots have a few bugs that make upgrading unwise as well.

I use Zans' minimap actually, but for some reason can't get it to work on this server. Might have this version configured for 1.6.4 still so I'll make an edited version tomorrow.

Zan's Minimap was taken over by Rei though? So now it's Rei's Minimap? That's what I thought.

Also, F5 for third person view afaik.

Log in for the first time in weeks to check and see about the 1.64 update and the first thing I see is someone has left my village spawner open. Zombies have invaded and are killing my key villagers. They also stole the diamond armor I had off my horse. Whoever did it had better hope that I never catch them at it.

Even more infuriating, they've messed with my villager breeding area, as in they've fiddled with the redstone. Now I have to completely rebuild it, because I have no idea what they altered.

  • @Kazu can you see who was whitelisted recently? Take the last person who was put on the list off because we didn't have this problem until recently, so it is whoever was allowed in recently.
  • There were a few people listed in that time, and I really don't want to wrongly accuse anyone without proof. It shouldn't be a problem anymore though. I put in a plugin that prevents anyone but you from editing blocks in your claimed area, unless you give them access.

Don't understand how we have these issues with such a small server. In any case, hopefully the plugin resolves that, bc I was resorting to building a hidden lair underground. Also, Zan's was handed down to a few people, ending up with MamiyaOtaru, who seems to still be maintaining it? It's unclear, but Zan's still works as Zan's bc I use it on another server just fine.

Well, since updating to 1.6.4, Zans works fine.

So there I was....mining and mining my own business, when as luck would have it I mine -directly- into a cave spider spawner, which was full since I was in the area. Lost my inventory and spent the next five minutes fistbanging my way through stone and cave spiders to try to get it back, to no avail. Needless to say, I logged off for the night.

In other news, on the Woodenaxe server myself and a couple of friends have finished a huge project we were working on last month, and unveiled it last night. Here's the video:

The middle head is our fearless leader, Matt, who provides the server, flanked by mob heads. Inside each head is a specialty shop, with the middle one being an information center and new player shop. I set up a fireworks shop, Seigur did a potion shop, and Mala did a Wool/Clay shop. It was awesome to finish this and to unveil it. So many people there.

The LiveMap still hasn't updated fully to show all the gravel gone, but here's what it looks like there:

We built a wooden axe coming out of Matt's head, with an observation point at the top of it.

I've honestly been thinking about this for a bit, and I wanted to ask you guys what you want to do for 1.7. I had originally just planned to expand the borders, but I didn't think they were going to completely re-write the entire biome rendering code and introduce so many new biomes. I'll list the cons and benefits to the two options we have here. Note, that 1.7 is still probably a month away. I just wanted to get some general input on it.

If we just expand the borders:

    Pros:
-You won't have to move anything you have going now.
-We will still get new biomes/items/etc.

    Cons
-There will be some noticeable clashes when transferring to newly rendered biomes.
-We might not get all of the biomes due to the way they are rendered.
-Nether Fortresses/Witch Huts may not function as they should. I think updating to 1.64 fixed this, but not 100% sure.

    If we reset:

    Pros:
    -New map (yay)
-I can probably copy most of the builds over from the current. The underwater ones might be a bit tricky though.
-I can 100% for sure make nether dropboxes to store items in. That way, you can take all your stuff to new map. Horses/villagers too.
-Very good chance we have all the new biomes.

    Cons:
-You may lose some of your build if I can't copy it properly.
-You will have to find a new starter area.
-I probably won't be copying rail systems and the like. Just too much area and it won't be same on the new map.

I'll look into making a quick rundown video listing all the stuff for 1.7, since i know some of you haven't had the time to look into it.

    @Carmain, @Jhaeli, @Azzad, @Grandue, @Kresslack, @Halos, @Ruth, @Daklore, @Faolin, @Jespar, @Jarrod, @Sheltan, @Seldin, @May, @Keralyn, @Jonathan, @Mishgul

  • Well, I'll probably only lose my village. But I haven't actually logged in for a while. So, no problem for me. I'm all for it. Lemme know if you're doing the nether dropbox stuff and how it works or whatever and I'll try and grab the stuff I wanna drag along... oh, and a deadline to do it, because I probably won't be paying attention or something.

  • It'll be a long time off. Like I said, 1.7 is probably a month away. I just wanted to go ahead and kick up some conversation so that we have an idea about what we are going to do.

Actually, with the size of the server, I don't think a reset would be so bad if it meant having all the new biomes load properly. We don't really have any unloaded chunks in the current boarder to rely on for that.

We do actually. That's why I restricted the server size to what it is. I had already planned on the 1.7 update with some new biome stuff, but not this much.

    Server down!

    EDIT: @Kazu, @Jhaeli

A frenzied cleric screams, "Like more than one halo!"
  • I say reset, nothing wrong with starting over every now and then.

  • Looks up to me.

  • I don't have much of a build going, so no complaints from me on a reset in the near future.
    image
  • Seems like the general opinion is to  go with the reset. I want to remind you guys that I -will- copy and paste your building if you want. That is, if we do reset. Just need to let me know and all that. I also -will- be putting up a lockbox area to store a limited amount of items in..Think of something like a 10 or 15 wide area for you to put items/horses/villagers in.
