Ironically all the data manipulation, debugging, and code optimization stuff I've learned were from years of trying to learn how to code on IRE since high school... It all went with me through college and now profession as a dba. Now coding automation for Devops on the infrastructure side.
That is not an ordinary star, my son.
That star is the tear of a warrior. A lost soul who has finished his
battles somewhere on this planet. A pitiful soul who could not find his
way to the lofty realm where the great spirit awaits us all.
I work for an Interpreting and Translation company that started in Melbourne Australia, expanded to the other state capital cities before going global. We have offices in London and Argentina.
I am in the office each day liasing with clients from all walks of life, Department of Justice, Department of Health, Department of Corrections, Department of Education, lawyers, private clients, etc. I take and manage bookings from them all, manage and allocate the Interpreters schedules and make sure things get done.
I’m a Public Defender in a major city. That’s right I play a villain and defend villains IRL (and tons of innocent/benign people too ).
Huh. This is a super interesting read, but never in a million years would I have picked @Jinsun as a Public Defender. That is a hard, fucking job that you often get zero credit for, but it's totally essential and I have huge respect for anyone who does it. (I run the pro bono program for our office on the side and so I have a bit of understanding of this kind of thing - or at least more than I used to anyway). You get a lot of shit on the forums (and a fair amount of it pretty justified!), but couldn't let this go by without giving you a solid thumbs up. Hats off to you, sir.

Thanks so much! Yeah it’s honestly a recent transition. I’d been in private practice with a focus on criminal defense but I hated doing civil work to pay the bills when I really only wanted to do criminal defense. The perception of public defenders not being “real lawyers” in media and the general public is very frustrating at times. Some jurisdictions are so overworked and understaffed that perception is justified to some extent. I’m very lucky to be a part of a well staffed and well funded office that strives to give some of the best representation. I actually have many more resources now than I did in private practice. It’s nice coming from private practice because I can just tell my clients “look I’ve won jury trials and at the court of appeals, and it doesn’t get more ‘real’ than that.”
Yeah, my persona here and as Jinsun is very different than court. Mostly because it’s less formal and a hobby I’m passionate about. I do get nasty and disrespectful with some people here, though much less so over the years. I’m rarely just off the cuff disrespectful. I pop off at people who are rude or show no respect in game. It’s no secret that I’ve a harsh past with forums and I’m willing to voice my displeasure more bluntly and rudely than other do. I’m not generally willing to offer courtesy to strangers on the internet and certainly when it involves my free time lol. Sure my reputation on forums and otherwise is earned but yeah it’s totally a different plane than my career.
A few years back now, I had a public defender working on my case, and this public defender was able to stop me from getting deported. So really, anyone who says they're not a real lawyer can suck it. Public defenders rawk
Stay at home father. Daughter is handicapped and needs constant watching, if not attention. Gets a bit lonely being in a house with a non-verbal mid all the time as my company. Thankfully Achaea and other games do help.
I'm a research analyst for the Public Health and Emergency Preparedness team for my city's health department.
(I prepare for and respond to emergencies that effect the public's health. We helped with sheltering for Hurricane Harvey, responded to Ebola, prepare for Zika/Flu/West Nile Virus/Disease du jour outbreaks, prepare for and practice medication/supply distribution in the case of a bioterrorism attack or something like that.)
Climbed up through the ranks of the lab, started as a phlebotomy and now I'm an Application Analyst for our lab software. 100% on the job training, using my 4 year degree in Art Therapy for zero things.

Reaching down with a massive hand, Sartan lifts your head and draws a taloned finger across your throat, the wound closing as He does so.

Basically I spend a fuckton of money to drive traffic to our sites and then have to justify why I spent that much
