Don't wanna comment on the veracity of anyones claims about the UW war. I spent far faaaar too much time in realms during the event and took it very seriously and was extremely frustrated with the result.
I was just commenting that he made a snide remark about Targossas misusing the thread only to follow it up immediately with another rant.
He is a coward who has to bring two friends as backup to jump people hunting.
I owe @Atalkez a rave and a concession of defeat. Quisse is wearing the ribbon (and I love it. Thank you. It's as awesome as her grey leggings and tunic made by @Halos)
Hashan won a CTF and people are ranting about it? Finally, you have arrived.
They won an event after the admin skewed it in their favor, failed to fix bugs or mitigate for said bugs, and used the bugs as a point deficit against the other cities. Hashan didn't win anything, they were handed a trophy.
I think you're pretty in the wrong here. Hashan put forth the most consistent and sizeable effort through the entire event. I think blaming the admin is a ridiculous cop out when we (Ashtan) had people on CWHO who are very established players not participating in any capacity. Hashan, on the other hand, appeared to mobilize their citizenry and were rewarded for it.
Also, who the fuck are you to speak on this event? I didn't see you down in UW once that I can recall for more than a death. You just look salty as shit.
Well, the scores were all very close at the end.
The original events were gated by time. Simple as that. The requirements weren't equal by any means.
The second phase could be started whenever you finished the first phase.
Thus, those with the requirements that could be finished as quickly as possible (i.e. Hashan) had the advantage in phase one and phase two, hands down. Those phases could have easily skewed the score in favour of another faction.
And yeah, Hashan put in a decent amount of effort. So did Eleusis. Eleusis continually ran Hashan out of UW. I don't know who put in more effort. I don't care. What's done is done, but looking back you can't say it was at least partially skewed in their favour (whether it was intentional or not).
I feel a strange sense of proxy pride from their win. I don't really understand fully why, but I pin it to the memories of early Targ days where we were constantly beset by a million different things in trying to build an entirely new community from scratch. Bunch of new people thrown together and basically given an ultimatum to "git gud". Forged in the fires of Ashtan raids with little but a sense of camaraderie to keep us all together during the huge absences of any tangible growth.
Hashan was like the ass end of so many relevance jokes for so long, and now they're wrecking face and taking names. The thought of it makes me remember those good times, where I actually enjoyed Achaea. It helps me remember what drew me to the game for so long.
So call it a rave or whatever, but I'm really honestly and genuinely happy to see them do so well, and I hope that it is something that everyone eventually comes to appreciate as well.
Lol @Dunn we were on at very different times. I usually was on with the early a.m. crew, but was there every single day as I was able to be. Sure they had tons of people there, but it doesn't change the fact that the early points skewing made it nearly impossible to win. After all Ashtan took every single portion not dictated by bugs following that.

Hashan was a nothing org for so long. So long. Since the Clinton presidency? Maybe. It was a city built around Twilight, that Twilight pulled out of to stick his obelisk in the desert instead. It had no theme except the vagueness of darkness and intrigue, so the players it attracted were insane drama whores. The Serpent Lords imploded at least twice (counting the time Daes booted everyone to try and relocate it to the desert, and the time it actually dissolved to become a high clan). The Spirit Walkers bisected themselves, splitting their population with a fuck-you-I'll-make-my-own-Shamans-then clan. The Sorcerers turned into the Merchants and quit for Delos. The Kharon, I mean Black Lotus, no, Kharon, actually yes Black Lotus, also had problems.
They clawed their way out of that open grave, somehow. They cleaned it up. They're fucking winning things. And they didn't need to get Shallam'd to do it. It's remarkable. Marissa Mayer didn't do that good a job of cleaning up Yahoo, and they're paying her $120m.
edit: Saltaern if you read this sorry for calling your city a nothing org
The Renaissance really gave Hashan the chance to reinvent itself, and thankfully, for the most part, that process was put in the hands of the players that really cared about the storyline of the city. It was a good last chapter for my character and I am glad to see it finally come into its own.

I was really never pleased with the outcome of Hashan's renaissance and the themes of the new Houses, but I'm glad to see that it worked and that Hashan's doing so well. Its just not a place I get excited about playing in anymore.
I've been playing predominantly Hashani for 11 RL years. I've been through a lot of the ups and downs of Hashan, being kicked back many times despite trying to improve things.
I have full faith in Hashan and always have, and I fully believe that Hashan is in the best place it has ever been, thanks to the efforts of many people putting in tons of effort.

When did hashan become hashan? I also feel like it's the best it's ever been but I probably missed 6 years in the middle there...

All my alts though get curbstomped....
After our Renaissance, so within the last half year or so. While we didn't quite get Shallam'd we did basically have a lot of or player driven lore canonized, that paired with the new house divisions, new leadership, and some key combatants finally getting recognized... The powerpuff girls were born!

I meant when was the city formed... Wasn't it just shallam and ashtan?

Oooh, it became a city-state around 220AF I believe, it was the 3rd player city.
Ashtan: since very ancient times. Accessible since 173. (official city-state: ~173 to present) Shallam: since very ancient times. Accessible from 193 to 612. (official city-state: ~193 to 612) Hashan: disreputable village from Seleucarian times. Accessible since 175. (official city-state: 222 to present)
A frenzied cleric screams, "Like more than one halo!"
A burly Theran guard arches his back in agony as a desolating rite constricts his body. You have scored a CRITICAL hit! You have slain a burly Theran guard, retrieving the corpse. Your soul cries out in ecstasy as it reaches new heights of power. You have advanced to level 99. You have reached the illustrious level of Greater Dragon. Numerous golden sovereigns spill from the corpse. You feel a surge of energy course through your body as an ecclesiastical cape feeds upon the lifeforce of your fallen foe. I suppose I'm almost limiting my comment to the UW stage, which I was most involved in.

Penwize has cowardly forfeited the challenge to mortal combat issued by Atalkez.
