I also sold my crated pet to an Eleusian. This is easy to justify, as they are essentially worthless other than their cute value. This is worth little to a Mhaldorian, so I am essentially ripping the heathen off of their credits, all because they are so blinded by that sweet animal face they must own.
-Picks up customised fox, and rides off on custom nightmare-pegasus-. Yes. Totally justified.
Right now my rave is @Serpentlords for putting up with me even though I myself think that I was not able to do really anything at all due to certain circumstances. Sorry for all the hell I have given and even though it isn't an excuse depression and isolation for more than a few months while working 50+ hour weeks with no recognition or thanks eventually gets to you. Again sorry everyone.

I've been thinking of alchemical RP, though I have no experience...I have watched Fullmetal....so I'm like an expert.
There's a place for alchemist in all cities...unless skills are changed. Right now, nothing points to Hashani theology/philosophy as pure Alchemist philosophy.
I know it very Midkemia, but Alchemy branches for each city would be incredible (think Sylvan/Druid Elementalism...nothing crazy)
(<clan>): Kuy says, "Gurl, I could talk myself outta Alkatraz."
@Marax: By design, alchemists are meant to be portable in terms of philosophy. However, their philosophy does best align with the established philosophy of Hashan, as both philosophies are very interested in astronomy. That's not to say that Alchemists don't belong elsewhere; they just belong best in Hashan.
At the time that Alchemists were rolled out, all cities (including Mhaldor) were given the choice between alchemy and concoctions. Thus, had more cities than Eleusis gone with concoctions, one could probably say the same about forestals: it's not that forestals don't belong elsewhere; it's that they belong best in Eleusis. (In the current game atmosphere where Forestals have been more or less recalled to Eleusis, I'm sure that there are many who will disagree on this point. It was meant more to demonstrate a point than anything).
While Achaean alchemy does take some cues from FMA, they are hardly the same thing. :P
I would agree there is a place for alchemists in every city, even Eleusis, some cities are going to be more natural fits than others. You can tie any class easily enough to Evil. You can draw parallels between Chaos and the Ether. You can draw parallels between the Ether and the Elements. You can make connections between astronomy/alchemy and Darkness. You can fit alchemists into your city merely because you need cures.
Even so, Hashan has a thriving alchemist community now because we cared enough to create one. We made a place for alchemists.
If I recalled correctly, in the choosing between alchemists and forestals cities were pushed (hard|subtly) by their respective Patrons and interested Parties to pick alchemists over forestals.

It was, the current distribution was the one preferred by the powers that be.

No way. Every city was given a vote and allowed to make their own choice. TPTB may have had personal preferences - certainly it's better for Mhaldor not to have Nature classes, and Hashan is all about astronomy and the power cosmic - but if they had a serious plan in mind, there's no way they would have allowed the playerbase to vote on it. Far too high a chance for that to backfire. Just look at Shallam and the botched public vote on becoming a theocracy. You can argue that the vote was stacked, since one option was 'shiny new class' and the other was 'your boring old toys', and individual gods may have expressed contempt for Nature etc, but I am quite sure that it was still each city's choice.
