Artefact Armour Arrives

------------------------------------------------------------
Artefact Armour - Embrasures, Rondels, Paragons, and Pries.
------------------------------------------------------------
HELP ARTEFACT ARMOUR has all these details.

- Embrasures:
These are insets added to armour that can hold paragons.
Armour can have up to 3 embrasures.
The first embrasure is added to armour by a legendary Armoursmith.
The second and third embrasures must be expanded via rondels.

- Rondels:
These can be purchased via the artefact cart promotion, or found in the Artefact Armour shop.
Expand your suit of armours number of embrasures via: EXPAND <armourID> EMBRASURE WITH <rondelID>
If you use the level 1 Rondel (a gilded rondel):
You will have armour with 2 embrasures.
You will have armour that does not decay.
You will have armour that is resetting.
You will have armour that is customisable.
If you use the level 2 Rondel (a sun and starburst rondel):
You will have armour with 3 embrasures.
You will have armour that does not decay.
You will have armour that is resetting.
You will have armour that is customisable.

- Paragons:
Paragons are precious artefact stones that offer various benefits, ranging from bonuses to resistances, to Shield of Absorption properties, and other interesting effects.
Once you have 1, 2, or 3 embrasures in your armour you can purchase paragons and insert them into the embrasures.
   Use: INSERT <paragonID> INTO <armourID> [EMBRASURE 1-3]

- Pries:
Pries come in two forms! Pries, and Pryalls.
Both pries and pryalls are consumed upon use.

- Pries are:
   made by weaponsmiths.
   decaying.
   groupable.
   tradeable.
able to pry one paragon (that is not on cooldown) out of an embrasure.
- Pryalls are:
gained via auctions, promotions, and purchasing paragons via the artefact cart on the website.
    non-decay.
    groupable.

  • Unless these bonuses are extremely minor this seems like a terrible idea :(

I feel like the cinereous one is really under-priced, for what it offers? Seems like it far outweighs the ring of endurance for bashing purposes.
    Huh. Neat.

And @Nicola or @Makarios could we get a rough estimate of the resistances added? Or will we have to test for ourselves?
    Huh. Neat.
  • For anyone curious, the rondels are 350/850 respectively.

At any point will we get a way for dragons to use paragons?

    Huh. Neat.

I can be a 2H with a SoA effect in my armour? holy balls.

I didn't see it, but did it say there that you can't use multiple of the same? (like resist)

For the meager cost of the SoA plus 200 more credits plus whatever you pay for the slot itself! Yes!
    Huh. Neat.

As someone who was monumentally dumb a year and a half ago and didn't just throw a simple custom desc on my fullplate to keep it preserved, I have been awaiting artifact armour since knight changes hit and they said it would likely be added.

However, much as I want to be excited, it's kind of frustrating to realize that I'll now have to pay 400 credits just to have customized armour, while getting no mechanical benefit other then having more room to put other enhancements in. Which would be great if I had the credits for that, but really I just want the option to have custom armour again, and 350 credits feels pretty hefty for something just aesthetic.

Which is all to say, I'm glad this is here, and frankly it looks like a pretty cool system (though every class having SoA effects is something that scares me a bit, I admit), but I really wish that the aesthetics were a little more separately purchasable then having to come with the extra slot.

So this is a massive money grab that the admin promised would never be a thing. Wow.
They said that they'd never do standard level 1-2-3 armour before. This isn't that.

  • Time to Diablo it up.
  • Moar Magi Nerfs.

  • JahIthBer up in this bitch. right now.

Or Godly plate of the Whale
  • I suppose I just wish that they had a lvl 0 rondel that granted the nondecay, resetting, and customisability for half the price, or something like that.

It really does feel like pairing a functionality that a lot of people will want (custom armour) with one that you can't use without a large investment (a second slot) is pretty unnecessary. I can't think of a reason for it to be like that except to encourage more people to buy a more expensive item.

Dragons can wear cloth armor. FTW.
    Huh. Neat.
  • I want a gigantic dragon jedi robe when I get there. F yeah.

  • This makes me want to sink credits into cool custom armour even though I don't really play at the moment and also wouldn't use the armour enough to justify it even if I did.

Next we need to revamp artefact weapons to use the same system, with the level 1-3 stat bonuses just being one (or three) of the addon options. It's not fair that armoursmiths get a new feature to play with and profit from but weaponsmiths don't have anything.
  • Hmm, dragon being able to wear cloth armour is a bug. No plans for dragons to be able to use paragons given dragonarmour and base resists.

didn't say anywhere that I saw, do these effects stack? (the resists, obv not the SoA)

  • Do the armour customizations need to be approved? I predict a lot of weird stuff if it isn't policed.

    @Borran
  • @Exelethril All customisations will go through the normal process of oversight.
  • Oh. Sorry I didn't see that.

I'll keep my SoA then and not trade it in for the armour.

    Note About Stacking and Paragons
    --------------------------------
Artefact effects (for similar artefacts) don't combine or stack. If you have,
say, a Shield of Absorption and an aneaous paragon, then only one will work.

You cannot have two paragons of the same type in any one piece of armour.

And you won't understand the cause of your grief...

...But you'll always follow the voices beneath.

  • Just blind then, thanks!

Weaponsmiths make the pries, which I'm sure will be in high demand.
