It's @Tvistor! The man is alive and going Bard! Glad to hear you're enjoying Australia (and really hoping you weren't near the Swanston St wall collapse) and slowly transing your skills. Don't forget to pop in now and then though, if just to say hello…even if we're different factions. Oh and by the way, enjoy Melbournian winter
"Faded away like the stars in the morning, Losing their light in the glorious sun, Thus would we pass from this earth and its toiling, Only remembered for what we have done."
It's rant time, and I'll use this thread because it's where you posted.
WHAT ON EARTH IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY'S WEATHER?
I was talking down the street last Monday and things were going fine. Then it started to drizzle, then something hit me on the back of the head. I was like:
"WHO'S THROWING <EXPLETIVE> AT ME?"
And all was still. Then I was like:
"This rain is unusually hard."
Because it was <EXPLETIVE> HAIL.
I know you people in countries with cold weather haven't realized this, but the world wants to kill you. It wants to drag you screaming out of your house and punch you in the face for the length of three Cyrenian Senate meetings. Your rain, which is supposedly comprised of one of the chemicals that is almost universally known as a lifegiver has decided "Water may giveth life, water may taketh life away." and launched an all-out airborne assault on you.
And the venomous animals. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY OF THEM?
"My hand is kinda itchy. Well, it's probably noth --"
KIDDING, YOU JUST DIED.
And no, "You can get the antidote within 24 hours." and things like that aren't comforting. In other parts of the world WE DON'T NEED ANTIDOTE. I have not had to receive the antidote for anything on pain of death in my entire life.
And the cold. The cold. Humans are not meant to operate at anything below twenty degrees Celsius. I got frostbite and my compassion turned black and fell off last month.
DID I NOT TELL YOU TO BRING AN UMBRELLA FOR THAT "FOUR-SEASONS-IN-ONE-DAY" CITY?
Now you know why people down there like their hot chocolate (and for some reason ice cream) shops en masse! That, and the rain is nothing til you experience a Brisbane flood where you need to surf your way out of suburbia to the CBD and have snakes swimming the things like a boss. HAVE FUN IN SUMMER WHEN EVERYTHING IS ON FIRE INSTEAD.
Melbs is at the butt end of Australia so you get the earthquakes too But hey, venomous creatures and deadly weather aside, you get kick arse food 24/7 and some very, very obsessive rugby fans who try to beat up the protestors / buskers on a regularly basis.
If it helps: this was in my apartment when I was living down there — called a wood borer and about 2.5" long for this one:

And I have no idea why her husband has no shirt on.
Because skin to skin is incredibly beneficial to babies, especially newborns. Your body actually helps theirs regulate temperature, heartbeat and breathing. It also promotes bonding and encourages feeding when it's with mom.
"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to? You will never find that [everlasting] life for which you are looking. When the gods created man they allotted to him death, but life they retained in their own keeping. As for you, Gilgamesh, fill your belly with good things; day and night, night and day, dance and be merry, feast and rejoice. Let your clothes be fresh, bathe yourself in water, cherish the little child that holds your hand, and make your wife happy in your embrace; for this too is the lot of man."
Commission List: Aesi, Kenway, Shimi, Kythra, Trey, Sholen .... 5/5 CLOSED I will not draw them in the order that they are requested... rather in the order that I get inspiration/artist block.
@Ainia we went to Southlands since I work at one of the places there, ate breakfast at the.. Crepe Cafe place thing, and just talked until I had to go to work. Our time was very limited xD
I'll probably be shifting over to Starmourn, seeya there! discord: aciidwire#5240 Please check out my new art page!
@Wysteria HEY, MELBOURNE'S COOL, so cool in fact it's damn freezing!
@Tvistor really? Under 20? If it's under 20 and no rain, then it's picnic weather here. But yeah, the weather does do some pretty freaky things here. If you don't like the weather, just wait 10 mins and you'll be fine. But it has had the positive effect of providing us with some of the best cafes around where you can get a nice hot coffee/chocolate that is perfect to enjoy while the rain passes...enjoyed on Lygon st...with some nice warm crostoli or a delicious lemon meringue tart or...excuse me, I'll be back in about an hour.
Janeway: Tuvok! *clapclap* Release my hounds!
Krenim: Hounds? How cliche.
Janeway: Tuvok! *clapclap* Release my rape gorilla!

don't remind me of all those cafes I misssss. Now I want to go to Richmond and eat at that place with the weird glossy bun American burgers, or that Chinese dessert / tea place that's named after an opium den you can only find upstairs which I stumbled upon one night at 3.30 in the morning…

And here is the best picture I could get of the cut, now that the bleeding has stopped. I can't bend my thumb this morning to actually see the bone, it's so swollen.
Pardon my dirty fingernails; they look grosser than the thumb.
My avatar is an image created by this very talented gentleman, of whose work I am extremely jealous. It was not originally a picture of Amunet, but it certainly looks a great deal like how I envision her!
@Amunet have you looked into the charity regulations at the hospitals near you? Because in my experience a cut like that shouldn't just be left, its quite easy to not only get infected but if you nicked it bad enough and hit the bone (which it sounds like you might have) it can go terrrrrrribad.
@Titonus all I can think about right now is god awfully awesome cat calendars. Its not a bad thing.
(Mhaldor's Next Top Model): Melodie says, "Get rekt scrubbbbb."
(Mhaldor's Next Top Model): You say, "Scrubbbssss."
(Mhaldor's Next Top Model): Trey says, "Austere was hangin' out the passenger side of his best friend's ride, apparently."
@Amunet If you can, head to a drug store or walmart/kmart/whatever and get a thumb splint. And Urgent care as soon as you can, most hospitals will have a payment plan, and your college might have insurance for students, so talk to someone in your admissions office to see?
It feels like a hairline fracture, so there's not a lot that a doctor is going to be able to do for it that I can't do here at home. I've been cleaning the cut in the morning and at night with alcohol swabs and Neosporin, and in between I have my thumb splinted tightly with gauze, a tongue depressor, and cloth tape. I'm pretty sure I'll be fine (and saving myself the crippling debt that inevitably occurs following any sort of medical treatment).
