Explained my trip to Sitka, Alaska in the OOC Raves thread. Figured I'd share a few pictures, even though I did take a ton. Spoilered them 'cause it ends up being a long post.
Sheet'ka Kwaan Naa Kahidi (House of the Sitka People)
Eagle at the Alaska Raptor Center
The oldest totem pole brought to Sitka.
Black bear at Fortress of the Bear.
Brown bear at Fortress of the Bear
St. Michael's Cathedral (Russian Orthodox Church)
Kiks.adi clan totem pole in Totem Park (my clan)
Raven memorial pole at Totem Park
Raven shark totem pole at Totem Park
Scenery at Kruzof Island from ATV trip
Definitely a cool trip! Would share more, but it's a lot to upload, and this is just enough to give a little taste of everything to see there. Definitely worth a trip if you love outdoors things and don't mind the rain. The scenery is amazing no matter where you go around that area.
So, Girard does this yearly thing either the last weekend of July or the first weekend of August where we celebrate a clown. Yes, a clown. Hold back your screams of terror (I'm pretty sure I screamed 10x louder than normal for all of us when I saw one), there will be no pictures of clowns. :surprised:
Here is my cousin sitting in a booth raising money for a children's preschool in.. Fairview, I think? I wasn't paying attention to my cousin's wife (not this cousin) rant about it. (Sorry.)
This is also the infamous blue moon that happened tonight, I love moons. Moon, moon, moon. I know that the term means the second full moon in a calendar month (such as July), but I was still highly disappointed that it wasn't actually blue.
also infamous selfie time, because you know. i somehow needed an updated picture of me from two weeks ago without the horrific sunburn thing. also, I have a really large forehead. huh.
I should hopefully have parade pictures tomorrow, and I will exclude clowns that throw candy and I'll stay away from drains. I know what happens when clowns and drains mix. I've read and seen Stephen King's IT.
Decided to go blackberry picking at grandma's house. Was going great till we turned around and saw this...
Pretty sure I haven't been able to run as fast as my kiddo for some time now, but this time I beat him by a step. Dunno what impressed him most, my speed or clearing all the porch steps in a single bound.
Beautiful Ourania. May the constellations align such that You walk once more with Your children in the Garden of Moonlight!
An astro photography buff friend of mine pointed out that my mobile phone camera really didn't do Lady Ourania any justice.
His exact words were "Hey mate just use it as a bench mark, you can only get better moving forward from that photo and please don't show it to anyone else".
So, in June the boyfriend got an awesome job with Cisco, but it meant a move to Sydney. He surprised me last weekend by coming down for my birthday. Here's a shot at the airport on Sunday as we awaited the flight.
There will be a few more weekend visits back and forth until I get a few things sorted and join him up north. Turns out my new company are so happy with my performance over the past 8 months that they're willing to have me based in Sydney rather than lose me.
But on the brightside I found my bike lock. I'v never driven a stranger before, but now im super excited to pick @Hyperlith up tomorrow!!! We're gonna have so much fun!

*Hopes Zuko is just excited, and not a soon-to-be serial killer.*
(Me, though admittedly I had a bad hair day.)
Haha, intentionally made that post creepy.. Been debating whether when I pick up @Hyperlith if I want to act psycho or not for the first 5 minutes or not.

Playing with my new camera. I think I'm in love. Also my town is kind of pretty. The things you forget to notice when you walk past all the time!

Later we thought we would try again...

One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one's work is terribly important
*Zuko and Hyperlith walk up to the meeting place*
@Sarapis: Hey Zuko, oh hey you brought your dog! What's his name?
Me: Actually that's @Hyperlith, but he rode in my car.
But fortunately, I cleaned my car for @Hyperlith
