My avatar is an image created by this very talented gentleman, of whose work I am extremely jealous. It was not originally a picture of Amunet, but it certainly looks a great deal like how I envision her!
@Jozlyn makes me want to re-consider Animal Studies and Zoology again...

So decided for some reason to get into leather working. Here is my first practice piece I finished not that long ago. Doesn't look the greatest but hey just learning right now.
I have a large project I want to do but it's still in the planning stages before I ever start cutting the leather.
@qwindor - your freehand with the swivel knife (hate that damn thing) is VERY awesome for a first-time attempt. Shading and tooling around the edges to add depth is pretty even as well. Stamp tooling - the spacing's a bit uneven in places, and it's just not uniform in general (you'll get the hang of the mallet soon though!
Took a picture with one of my ex-students (15 year olds) when a whole lot of us went out. And my friend said I look 15...
I genuinely have no idea who's not 15....because the one at the bottom looks 15 at most?! Damn young azns! Looking all cute and young before you suddenly look like an antique!
@Anaidiana - Not sure why the picture poofed but yea it's a little odd because I also free-handed from a picture on the computer. I was just trying to get the general shape down to just practice. Decided last night to start working on a bracer. Got the stencil that I'm going to use pretty much done but I will do a post once it's all done with the steps in progress. Hoping it turns out well.
Edit - For the swivel knife I was not using a straight blade like most seem to use as I got an angled one that I like working with on stuff like that so much more.
Is that first one a Stinkpot (Common Musk)? The head looks about right, but hard to judge without the shell ... we have a lot of turtles in the house right now... 3 red ears, 1 stinkpot, 1 yellow bellied slider, and 1 Southern Painted.

Well the one on the left is me (24 years old) and the one on the right is my student (15 years old)
