I don't believe that for a second.  They're Achaeans.  They would have resorted to wormholes or sonicportals or something else WAY before 10 years.
Couldn't portal, too many giant dicks monoliths on the field.

You also have to consider that most people don't know any of that, and the only thing they'll think of from the word "Trojan" is "Trojan horse", without knowing any of the details (such as who the Trojans were, or who was giving and who was receiving the horse).

I did consider it. And then pointed out some of the details.

And the wise-ass professor in me must point out that nowhere in Homer's Iliad is there a mention of a wooden horse. It's a later addition to the text, most likely from the Middle Ages.

Am I the only soul who's been ruined by the internet and thought something completely different at the bolded?

The Iliad doesn't include the sack of Troy at all, wooden horse or not. Not sure if you have other evidence in mind here, but saying it's a much later addition based on it not being in the Iliad is kind of like saying that Yoda was a product of fanfic because there were no little green muppets in Episode IV.

They should have named them Spartan condoms then. Or y'know, Helm's Deep condoms. That one even sounds sexual.
The point was that whether it's a myth or not, Trojans are best-known for their ultimate defeat, and having the impregnable impregnated. It's just a poor or possibly very ironic choice of name.

I realised it before I posted, but couldn't think of a better way to phrase it, so I just decided to keep it.

    You want a "want" button?
