Our phones got cut too, and we're a call centre! There was more noise from us with no phone lines than there was when we're answering calls. Was awesome and got paid to do noooothing for 3 hours

Awesome professor that took 10 minutes at the start of class to show us a cat video (posted in amusing things) answered a question with "waah" while touching her eye and stroking down her cheek (she was kidding, but still lol). She also used the phrase "challenge accepted" to answer another question (about it being impossible to find articles for something really specific in a database).
New VP at my company trying to get a raise on our minimum starting wage to attract a higher caliber employee. If implemented, it means I may get a 2-3 dollar increase to compensate. Yowza.
I went out to my usual poetry open mic last night. I got there a little late, so I didn't think I'd be able to read, but there was some time at the end, so I went up and read the first draft that came up in the documents on my phone - which just happened to be the poem I wrote IC for @Icaru and posted on the poetry news. I figured it wouldn't get much of a response, since it's a) written for a text-game, and b) tends toward the style of the Romantics, rather than the "I'm so fucking deep, I read The Bell Jar once in high school" model that proliferates at this particular venue. However, I left the microphone to a standing ovation, and upon going up to the bar to order another drink, I was accosted by a girl. She said to me, "Lindsey, my name is Stephanie, and this is my boyfriend Adrian. We come here every week hoping you will read. Your poetry is metal as fuck. Do you have a book out yet?"
She then paid for my drink, and we started discussing my poetry in detail. It was a very surreal experience...but it makes me want to keep writing!
I suppose I should thank @Icaru for asking for poetry in the first place, as otherwise this wouldn't have happened, haha.
My avatar is an image created by this very talented gentleman, of whose work I am extremely jealous. It was not originally a picture of Amunet, but it certainly looks a great deal like how I envision her!

I survived a 27-hour Thursday of travelling and woke up at a reasonable time on Friday.
Tokyo is an amazing place.
The World Shito-kai Federation might be the best people. No, I've never met you before; you're from Australia and I'm from England. SURE WE CAN BE BEST FRIENDS. We had the Mexican national team cheering for our fighter in the kumite.
My tooth got fixed by my dentist. She looks like she should be in high school, whispers instead of talks, and told me it would not hurt a bit. I love it when she is right!
Tonight I watched Sleeping Beauty, Lady and the Tramp, and Peter Pan with two of my colleagues. Last Friday night we watched Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella.
We're going to go through all the Disney movies we like, with three every Friday. I love it. Highlight of my week, every single time.

Oh man, the ending of Code Geass is so bittersweet and deliberately ambiguous, ugh. The anime itself is a 10/10 in my books, I've never watched anything with as much appealing depth of story, combat and animation before.
Spent past 4 days in Melbourne for a family friend's wedding. Hybrid Greek Orthodox (Greek groom) and Roman Catholic (Malaysian-Chinese bride) ceremony. Two hours of standing at church #1, followed by blessing at church #2, then a solid 8 hour reception involving craploads of food, alcohol, dancing and the fact there were 275 people and the poor DJ had to speak in English, Greek, Hokkien and Cantonese in the hopes SOMEONE in the room could understand him. The Priests from both churches were seriously having drinking competitions and taking out their Books and comparing notes. Was awesome.
Met some people from Brunei (such people don't exist in Australia) and we found out we went to the same schools yet never knew each other existed. Was such a blast from the past and made me feel like I belonged somewhere for once and really think about my place around here.
Also: half a bottle of wine, three double scotches, 4 shots of ouzo, 2 shots of sake = 4 hours Zorba dancing. The Bruneian contingent was having a competition against the Greeks to see who could last out the time. We won hands down The Malaysian group just sat down to keep chatting (as they do).

Hearing "Oh, hey Tilly" in that delicious Irish accent just made my day.

Some days I absolutely love my job. Today the kids keep saying ” this is so awesome!” A 3rd grade boy hugged me and told me I was pretty cool, and then told me I'm pretty and nice.
Plus we looked at spiders making webs, I caught a snake, we caught frogs and minnows, and we dug through rotting logs.

Despite the rant I just posted... at least I have my followup appointment scheduled, which should give me answers to scary health stuff that have me stressed out to the point of insomnia (and have since early August). The thought that this time next week I might have answers is definitely rave-worthy. Hopefully they'll be the answers I want, but even bad news is better than the terror of Not Knowing.
Also rave-worthy: I am a geek, and learning stats programs for my stats class is fun! Playing around with R right now, and dabbling in SSPS and SAS as well. Everyone else in the class in intimidated by the coding... I think it looks like Achaea!
I'm continually tempted by Terraria, but it look like the kind of game that's significantly more fun in multiplayer - so I need to persuade others to buy it as well.
Alternatively I could buy the four-pack and guilt them into playing with me!
