    lol

  • I'm not even sure if this is a rave or not, but...

I work in software as a QA analyst. Basically that means a large part of my work involves deciding WHAT to test and HOW we test it and working with the coders to ensure the overall testability and reliability of the product, as well as helping plan timelines and test metrics.

A year ago, I was working for a company who decided automation was the wave of the future - automation without context. This meant that they phased out all of their manual testers and analysts in favor of people who coded automated tests...without really retaining the people who plan out what those tests are going to be. So, I was thanked for my work, but told that they couldn't renew my contract, so I moved on.

I'm back on the job market now, and I just got a call today from my old employer about how they'd like me back and could they please call me ASAP about me returning. -_- Guess that plan didn't go so well for them...
  • A RL Qwyn walks into a bar and orders 1 drink.

Doing a pub crawler the moment. Rocked up to a microbrewery and half of it is taken up by a 25 piece folk band. So amazing.

Also a gaint metal spare parts velociraptor statue

Having Valentine's breakfast with my dog Chief.  <3 (Yes I cook for him, too!) Dogs deserve all the love and attention they can get because their whole world is about you even if you have a world outside of them.

He's my best friend and like my child all at the same time, always a reminder that dogs are so much kinder and never cruel like humans. If they do something bad, it's likely because a human taught them to be that way.

The majority of the best memories in my life were with one of my dogs, a cat, or some other animal I had along the way all the way back to my very first dog I got when I was three years old. He was a brindle staffordshire terrier named Homer (not after the Simpsons character). He was an amazing dog, so many great memories and stories. He ended up running away when I was in the third grade because my brothers' dad would abuse him.  I was too young to do anything. We also had another dog at the same time that belonged to their dad at the time, a rottweiler named Tanner. We had him until he died. Another great, super intelligent dog. So gentle and loving.

Speaking of, plenty of pet adoption specials with the rescues and shelters today! Maybe you'll find your soulmate in a fur friend. Rescue and shelter dogs are always so grateful, even if it takes them a little while to get over a little fear at first.

Edit: Just saw this. Too perfect to add!

What doesn't kill you gives you exp.

  • @Melodie pics? Hehe
  • @Melodie nice. Those are pretty :)
  • @Melodie I had a big phone wallet before when I first got my phone... had it for a year or so... eventually I was like yeah... how about I just get a wallet and have my phone. People would oogle me and be like "if you lost your phone you'd be fucked" ... I was like its not my phone I'd have lost.. .but my wallet... so yes?....

Oh, I won't be using it to keep any actual credit cards/money in, beyond like pocket change or something for the day. Have too many cards/little too paranoid about it. I enjoy it for the design more than the seeming practicality.

Women have purses, there are no shortage of places to keep important things.
And I love too                                                                          Be still, my indelible friend
That love soon might end                                                         You are unbreaking
And be known in its aching                                                      Though quaking
Shown in this shaking                                                             Though crazy
Lately of my wasteland, baby                                                 That's just wasteland, baby

  • I don't know if anyone is fond of Xcom or purchased Xcom 2, but here's my personal rave about myself.

I would have beaten it much faster if people would stop defiling my shrines for five seconds.

My mother is stable rather than extremely critical now, and can verbalize "I love you too" again. I can't even begin to explain how much that means to me. I also got to show her my degree, with summa cum laude honors. Tonight was a good night.
    @Tesha  awesome

I saw this advertised recently and it looks pretty good. Glad to hear approvals.

It and Chelsea Does both look like something I need to invest some binge-ing into.

  • A lot of days, I really hate being an attorney. It wears me down, and I just want to quit. Not today.

We had a client go to trial on two aggravated robberies. He was picked up as a juvenile and tried as an adult. The came back on the lesser included simple robberies. Much less on the sentencing, but I was really upset. I wanted to win. That day, I sat in my office, pouting and drinking beer from my darth vader coffee mug. Today was the sentencing hearing. My co-counsel on the case wasn't with our office anymore, so she was going to handle the hearing. I was going to swing by for support. I showed up pretty late after a hella long day. The State was seeking around 13 years.

So I get there late, and find her and our client back in holding. Another client tried to chat with me, and co-counsel says "hold on, I need to talk to Seth." I say, well just a second, I want to hear what he's got. She says, "It can wait, we need to talk to you." I step into the room, and she says "We got an offer... 9 years." I said, "out of 13 max? No, let's have the hearing, their enhancement factor is bullshit and we can win on appeal." Here's the important part the guy has two other aggravated robbery trials pending. He could get upwards of at least 37 years if just everything goes wrong. She goes "No, Seth, they want to settle every case today. 9 years concurrent at 85." Meaning he'll be eligible for parole in a bit over 7 years. He already has 2 years of credit. This kid is looking at 5 years in the face of 37. He'll be 23 when he gets out and goes home to his kid. I'm very happy with that result, and I hope he turns things around. Today was a good day.
