Speaking of school. I found out that my employer will pay for me to go to grad school...soooo yes.
However that's not the really great news!
My little sister just called me with the wonderful news that she has been accepted to the university she wanted to attend. This is a big deal. My little sister is awesome but she's never been responsible and has always blamed the bad things that happen to her on others. This year her fiance of four years broke it off with her, she was devastated but it gave her a new perspective. Since the breakup she has been happier than I've seen her in ten years. She has drive, her sense of humor is back, she has self-esteem! It's made me very happy to see the transformation.
I'm so proud of her. I think she finally realized just how amazing she is and how much potential she has. I'm incredibly happy for her.
I have only... Four more days of work to get through before my friend from out of town comes to visit. This will be the first time I've taken off any substantial amount of time from work since starting six months ago. I'm looking forward to hanging out and playing a lot of Diablo III.
So, my Amazon order didn't come today and I couldn't find tracking info on USPS (which I hate that Amazon goes through them because my apartment complex is ghetto and people "lost" the keys for the bigger drop off boxes) and since it didn't come today like it was expected, Amazon is refunding price of shipping. Totally did not expect it, I just wanted to find out where it was.
Rant is how they went about doing the order and I'll never use Amazon unless I have to from now on. I ordered something from Knit Picks through Amazon rather than their site (it was on sale on Amazon!). According to Knit Picks, it went from Los Angeles (which is literally 3 hours away (medium traffic because LA = bad traffic) and shipped to Amazon's Phoenix, AZ warehouse. Then shipped back out here. Bass-akwards.
Other rave: Free Comic Book Day is Saturday!!
Another rave? Since the end of my son's Spring Break (April 7th was when they got back) I walked/jogged 45.5 miles. Average of 2.3 miles 5 days a week. I'm damned proud of myself.
Adventures in Subbing: Was at Dickenson for the first time ever today and was in for a delightful dude. Caught him this morning before he left (he was being pulled to cover DCAS testing) and he had an ... odd request. He asked that for his 2nd block (full of nerds, his words not mine), he wanted me to run class with a Texas/southern accent. I obliged and they got it all the way through the greeting and schpeal. I had to stop by the time I got to attendance (some of the names these days....) and when I told them I wasn't really from Texas, the entire class applauded. Day made.
Getting a 100% survey at work from a caller I helped who had nothing but nice, glowing remarks about me in the comments section. Definitely put a little pep in my step for the work day.
Aurora says, "Tharvis, why are you always breaking things?!" Artemis says, "You are so high maintenance, Tharvis, gosh." Tecton says, "It's still your fault, Tharvis."

I just finished filling out all the e-paperwork for the school and having my transcripts sent there.
I have officially applied for grad school.

Not sure if rant or rave. My girlfriend decided to impulse-buy a third cat, this one being a race-bred 1.2k dollar kitten.
And it's adorable.
> Kitten better sing, hunt, cook, and clean after itself atleast if it's a $1.2k breed.
Hope it can work the corner, too.
There is now a row boat at work.
ONE MORE STEP TOWARDS 30, BITCHES. 29 TODAY.
This is a class of super well-behaved, funny, kind kids.
The kids were huge smiles and giggles when they saw I cut all my hair off. Apparently they've never had a teacher with a mohawk ;)
Today is a good day.
Aren't mo-hawks an endangered specie? Do you have a license to bring these to class?

@Alexandre isn't that just the best?
It is, especially after dealing with so many people that don't seem to appreciate your help and super rude co-workers.
Rave to Jim Beam honey whiskey. Mm.
Not even gonna pretend like I'm not just sitting over here fanboying SO HARD.
It took 5 hours, but I finally finished building my new computer. Unfortunately, I'm too sleepy to play with it now.
I demand pictures when you awake.
The computer:
And the workspace (my bed):
:O My aunt is dogsitting a pug named Zeus. Gonna go visit the little fellow when I wake up tomorrow.
I love @Verily with all my heart. She's amazing and everything an e-friend should be!
I also might be typing this whilst heavily intoxicated, but that does not change anything!
Hush, you. Did I say you could stop with the partying? Back to it, there are things that need shaking!
It's so quiet at work right now I could drop a needle and more than likely hear it. Saturdays now are the only peaceful work day I have.
gasp. @Daslin is leaving me out, WHAT IS THIS
