I picked up my car and it's awesome. I'm not entirely sure what happened between Saturday and today, but I only ended up paying three grand for it. It's so small and so spacious and an absolute dream to drive. The only thing that needs immediate attention is new wipers and my legs being freakishly long. I had to put the seat all the way back and move the steering wheel all the way up to have moderate leg room. I am really, really happy with it though and tomorrow I'm going to get pretty custom plates for it when I fix up the registration. I also get to have a day out with my mum for lunch and shopping. Things are looking up!

I've been working as a radiographer for nearly a year now, and it's nearing the time for my annual review. Been nervous about how my work and work attitude would be seen by the management team. Though it isn't quite an official 'review' per se, it feels good to hear from the in-charge of general modality x-rays that I've been improved so much since the review I received when I first started my job.

It's heartening to know that I can also be called upon when things need covering or students need supervising in the department and that makes me happy! Also, I took an x-ray of a cup of bubble tea with pearls today, for curiosity's sake.

Let it be known that these pearls (made of tapioca flour, usually) can be seen in CT/CAT scans and show up as dense, round spheres on normal x-rays. Totally thinking twice about ordering pearls now!

    Edit:

    Here's the image:

(Too large) Have this link instead.Picture!

    E! E! E! E! E!   -hyperventilates- THIS IS A PHONE! THIS IS A LOCK! RADIOGRAPHY IS FUN!
Do you develop the xrays yourself? Have you done the drawing/light/negative picture trick?

Edit: I used a white screen on my computer as a light box.. unfortunately it glared out a lot of the tiny circuitry on the iPhone :(
The x-rays are done electronically now. We use cassettes that contain phosphor layers inside them. Those layers hold the x-ray/radiation energy that falls upon it. We put it through a processor which reads the amount of x-ray energy it has trapped and it is translated from digital signals to analog ones that are read by the computer and transformed into x-ray images on the screen.

And I have no idea what you mean by light/negative picture trick. Unless you mean turning black bits to white, and white bits to black. Then yes!

I think this should be in rants, dolphin-man

Tecton says, "It's still your fault, Tharvis."

  • @Sybilla Learning knitting is kinda hard after knowing crochet... my suggestion Crochet -> Tunisian crochet (omg I'm having so much fun with it) -> knitting... since tunisian is a mix of the two IMO.
    meh

  • Mum taught me how to knit when I was little, so it's familiar but I really wouldn't know what I'm doing if I picked it up from scratch! Tunisian crochet looks sooooo wonderful though. Ugh, I'm just going to end up as a crazy cat lady with yarn instead of furniture aren't I?

I'm half-way there. My father-in-law's grandmother passed away and had so much yarn I had to put all of it in our outside storage closet. I'll take a picture and label it all for yarn. It's insane how much I got. She also had an entire set of hooks, including lace hooks... but only like 3 tunisian hooks. It's addicting, but so pretty. I'll also post a picture of the scarf I'm working on. It's so pretty.

Half day today in a social studies class.

The room is PACK FULL of so much american/history stuff, motivational posters about positive attitudes, and soooo much supplies. I have never seen such a crowded room, but it's actually really pleasant, since most rooms are so depressingly bare. I'd take pictures, but unfortunately no camera with me. I love this room so much. It's full of character.

Better yet, these are all eighth grade classes, and all of the kids are very polite, saying please, thank you, complimenting me, and in general being pleasant young adults. I usually don't like this school overly, but either it's improved since I was here last year, or I managed to hit a class sweet spot.

Small rant: I kind of want to keep them all, they're just so sweet. I think my biological clock is starting to kick in these last few weeks. It needs to go awaaaaay. Thank god this isn't an elementary school...
And I love too                                                                          Be still, my indelible friend
That love soon might end                                                         You are unbreaking
And be known in its aching                                                      Though quaking
Shown in this shaking                                                             Though crazy
Lately of my wasteland, baby                                                 That's just wasteland, baby

I swear to the Gods that if this job makes my daddysense start developing, I'm going back to the warehouse.

    No.  Do not want children.

    Keep them.

Just watched Frozen, and I have @Alynna to thank. Wow, what a kickass movie. Love the music, love all the twists and toying with expectations and the music. Adina Mendez's voice is gorgeous as always. Thanks again @Alynna :)

Everyone who has not gone to see Frozen - Go see it! It's apparently the second-highest grossing movie to come out of Disney Animation Studios, just after The Lion King. How is this not epic?

    Seriously. Go see it!

Uhh... I accidentally pushed 'Post Comment' when I had nothing to say and it was blank.

You do realise grandparents get ang pau too. Other criteria is being single. So stay single, you'll always get one from a generation up!
