Hate to say it, but on my first day here I might be eating a fellow citizen
Bloodydemon (male Mhun). He is 18 years old, having been born on the 16th of Mayan, 661 years after the fall of the Seleucarian Empire. He is unranked in Achaea. He is an extremely credible character. He is not known for acts of infamy. He is a Slave in Mhaldor. He is considered to be approximately 0% of your might.
Maybe I'm missing something in translation because English isn't my first language, but I'm not seeing how/why some of these are so awful? Bhavulthrolo and Dimme, for instance, seem fine to me, what's flying over my head?
I'm also not sure how much value a thread like this has when it's stopped being an "haha remember that one guy I came across back in '06 who kept that stupid name/title" and become an AMBLOG <city> copy paste. At best it's encouraging troll behaviour for people creating "hilarious" (cue the eye roll) alts for a quick laugh. At worst it's putting down legit newbies who could likely get hooked on Achaea's rich environment, but won't because the first thing they're met with is derision.
Bloodydemon and Happylamb seem to fall under the same category as "Humblecat" which is passable under HELP NAMES. If they're that bad, the admin seem pretty quick at catching them.
I guess @Sarapis can weigh in the whole name policy (changes?) if we're looking for an explanation or to talk about issues (it's incredibly difficult to carry a serious IC conversation with someone called "Trashlater"), but as it stands this is quick becoming one of the forum's cesspools.
Humbecat is s ridiculous name and it bothers me its permitted.
I agree.
But remember this? I think the naming policies became (more) lax since then because a tribal/Native American type name like that could be passable and in this case wasn't.
It's been said already in the thread the relaxing of the rules was not to deter fresh novices, the real newbies who's first experience in achaea shouldn't be a guide screaming at them to change their name.
Perhaps though, we should look and revise the ruling... Not make them change their name but leave them to level 30 (new novicehood barrier right?) to play and enjoy and prompt them at that stage?
The namechange process works in a similar fashion already, @Tahquil.
Only when a name is deemed to be offensive is a player asked to change immediately. Those considered simply unacceptable are notified upon reaching level 10, and then twice more upon gaining a new level should they put off finding something more acceptable.

Yes, this thread ends now. Those of you who think it's funny to mock novices are going to find yourself on the wrong end of a ban very quickly if you continue it in another thread. That's utterly toxic behavior and we're not going to put up with it.

I still think "Humblecat" sucks hard.
