I think I remember hearing that clockwork anything is a very firm no.

Edit: outside of that help file.
  • Hi, I've been having difficulty running my Mudlet on my PC and I have no idea why. It's mudlet 2.1 I can run The Witcher, LoL, youtube/twitch videos all day long but the moment I have Mudlet open, even with no other programs running, my PC just freezes and then shuts down. I can have Mudlet open for no longer than 10 minutes before this happens. Anyone else encountered this or have an idea why it's happening?

What I've had happen in the past is multiple iterations of the mapper getting backed up. Ends up taking up a lot of room and the first time I cleared all the old version (after two years of playing) it was because mudlet wouldn't work anymore.

If it's shutting OFF, that's not a good sign.

i would open an administrative CMD prompt and do a chkdsk c: /r , let that run.

I get its only one program but it's either running from a bad sector or writing files to one is my suspicion.

chkdsk may fix it but ultimately it might be a sign of a failing hard drive.

The other possibility is a ram issue but that usually presents as a blue screen.

Do I want flails or morningstars in pvp and pve? Is it just personal preference? I just started using flails and they seem to be better for bashing. 5-6% damage per balance vs 3-4% with 16 str. Morning star is faster but I seem to rely on crits to do most of my damage or I'm hitting things for ages, so flails seem to be the better choice.

I also use Keneanung's hunting script so this is using battlerage.
  • All the dual-blunt knights I've fought use a combination of morningstars and flails in pvp. Usually, they'll take advantage of the morningstars' speed to attack limbs until they're ready to break, then break them and switch to flails for assault, if they're going for damage. I -think- morningstars are the go-to for pulp, but it's been so long since I've fought a dual-blunt knight that I could be wrong about that! But you'll probably want to carry a set of each.

Morningstars because dual flails would look silly. I'm imagining it rigjt now in my imagunation place and yes, its like a fully armoured knight with nunchucks.

  • anyone have any idea why my ship struggles to get started whenever I start rowing and sailing? https://ada-young.appspot.com/pastebin/da1ccef2

Only thing that I can think of is maybe my crew? Morale -is-  at indifferent, maybe this?
  • It's just something that happens occasionally, I've seen it at all levels of crew morale, crew experience, wind speed, different ship types, etc., so I'm not sure what causes it. It seems to almost never happen if you open the sails before you start rowing, though that doesn't help when the only direction you can go is into the wind or when there's almost no wind.

For PvP, flails are your damage option, good for mangling limbs and taking advantage of DWB's extra damage when hitting already-damaged limbs. You can't Pulp with flails, though, they're too slow for the setup to work, so you need morningstars to fight anyone you can't just damage out. If considering artefacts, flails added speed and damage is considerable, and shifts the break threshold of people you can mangle with 4 hits. I personally don't see a point in artefact morningstars, forged speed is already sufficient and their damage isn't really worth noting, so artefact stars just don't give enough bang for the buck in my opinion.

In hunting, last time I really checked, the two seemed proportional, just trading speed for damage, so either was valid. A lot of hunting changes have gone in since then, though, so use what feels best. In general, speed is better once you start critting more often.

  • @Will with sailing, when the output of either rowing or sailing is very low, it causes the ship to move significantly slower when you start using that. In your instance, the waters were very choppy so rowing is inefficient. You would not have that issue if you had started with your sails first.  Its a quirk with how the speed is calculated.

Thanks! Never seen this happen before, will test that out!

Czanthria has a map with the seamonster zones. You'd have to ask her directly.

    Good luck :P

  • Why aren't earrings on the artefact cart? :O
  • - The Clasp of Animal Spirit has been reduced to 500 credits.
Okay, so just to check, this artifact completely prevents things like selarnia and such from working, and "strengthens the bond to your current morph" as well. I don't have one, so two questions for anybody who does:

    1) Does blocking selarnia etc. basically mean that I can just set my curing to ignore when I get given it, in order to not waste a balance on curing away an affliction that won't do anything to me?
    2) Is the strengthening of the bond like the Affinity (reduces endurance drain for being in morph) or Bond (chance of being forced back into unmorph decreases at a cost of higher endurance drain)? Or is it something else?

I haven't really looked at buying it before mostly because the price was a bit too high for my tastes, but if it's dropped down to 500cr then it looks a bit more attractive.
    - (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place."
    - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely."
    - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")."
    - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish."
    - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."

  • Also, @Nicola for the clasp, the Artifact cart on the website has the price of the clasp listed at 700cr. Is that just a typo, since the Announce says it's been lowered to 500cr, or would it still be costing 700cr if it was bought via the cart?

  • Does armour work the same as weapons for customisation purposes in that you can go a grade down in specificity? I.e. call fullplate 'armour' like you can call a longsword a sword?

I may be wrong, and this is a guess, but I presume that you would still have the affliction, you just wouldn't feel the effects of it. If you didn't cure it at all, you'd be severely disadvantaged vs. some combat mechanics. For instance, as an occie if I knew you didn't cure it, I'd give it to you every fight. Crone requires 5 affs at one time uncured. If you aren't curing something like that, it's a freebie for me, and not being able to morph is gonna be the least of your problems in a fight.

I'm admittedly also unsure if I just get given it and it doesn't affect me, or if I can't be given it at all. The help file just says it "completely defeats" selarnia etc. if you have one.

  • That's not exactly what it says...

Completely defeats the morph breaking of Soulstorm, Cleanseaura, Selarnia, and other abilities that force the morpher to 'human'/'unmorph'.

Based on that wording, you still get the affliction, it just nullifies the morph breaking effect.

Pretty sure you can still get those afflictions, you just won't unmorph, but that's just based on the wording.
