What's the deal with using other player's BM swords? I see people selling them in shops a lot. Can you band them? If you can - does it then bear "your mark" or will it still have their name on it?

Edit:vvvvvv  The shops in question clearly list the blades as for sale and either ask for inquiries on price or have a listed price.

I am particularly interested in how bands interact with another player's blade.

To my knowledge, any blademaster can use any blademaster sword, and anyone can behead with a blademaster sword, so swords with "cool" names might actually have some retail value.

There's also a blademaster sword in the "Celestial Falcon" shop purely for display purposes simply because the sword's name is also called "Celestial Falcon," so you might just be seeing shopkeeper vanity in some shops.

  • I just beheaded a bunch of people with Grand Adder. It was satisfying.

You cannot band a blademaster sword that is not yours. Nor can you customise a blade to be yours. Even when the original owner is no longer a blademaster.

  • Anyone know how well pets trample.

Is there a difference between normal pets and a normal mount and packaged pets? (as far as trample is concerned)

If you get a pet that doesn't fly does that trample better than one that does?
  • @Aerek That's true with the exception that a banded blade can only be used by its owner.

I'm not sure if there's a way to get a high level pet or what, if anything, affects the level, but all the pets I've seen are pretty low levels, so they're not good for trampling.

I hope pets can't be made higher level. There needs to be -some- advantage to using actual mounts instead of invincible, mountable amnesia pets with over-the-top descriptions.

  • Yeah, all or most pets I've seen are "humble-looking creatures" and thus suck at trampling. I wish there was a way of upgrading their level.
  • @Iocun: I think, like most things, it's possible, just not worth the price you'd have to pay.
  • It's not possible, as far as I've been able to ascertain.  Sort of like how buying a sixth pet is not possible. :(
...and in my defense, my eagles don't have grandiose descriptions or short descs.

I'm eager to get into Blademaster combat, but my alt only has trans in TwoArts, with very minimal training in striking (up to Alleviate) and only a little more in Shindo (up to Sturdiness). Can I viably participate in combat without the rest of either skill, solely using TwoArts and the tiny bit of striking I've got?
Should be plausible against people around the same might, I think. With trans Two Arts and knee strike, you've got the basic components needed to break limbs, prone, impale, brokenstar. Without hamstring and feet in striking, you'll be pretty much screwed against mounted opponents, and lack of airfist/voidfist will make it a bit trickier to deal with parrying (but not impossible).
  • Setup legs, wait for a long enough balance/eq attack that you can strike knees and get a free impaleslash, doublebreak with knees, impale, bladetwist until the they writhe, impale and bladetwist again, brokenstar. Will work on 99.9% of Achaea.

Cooper not trolling, this is 100% true. Especially the end.
  • Mir 99% of the time, unless you are vs. an affliction class that doesn't do damage. Then thyr and arash are fine. Always evade out and switch to arash before your kill combo, though, but don't let them see you do it. Preferably right after an attack of theirs, evade out, arash, evade back in and unleash combo.

  • Added accuracy from Thyr can be handy against especially dodgy people, though usually keeping them hamstrung and dismounted will do well enough for that. And it makes airfist last longer, but that's a pretty marginal benefit.
  • Considering that once you have voidfist, we can change

    to

Setup legs(and torso when possible to improve bleed output), voidfist an enemy, then hit them with either pommel-neck or south-compass-neck(to break torso) to to be followed with impaleslash, then doublebreak with knees/impale/twist until brokenstar levels.

  • How has theft been changed? I am very confused at the moment. I thought you could only pickpocket now, but then I am told that people can still make you give them items. If that's the case, why is there so much angst over these boards about theft? Doesn't sound like much has changed at all.
  • If we are away, we could be made to give items, yes. I say if we are away, because it seems to take a bit of time (a friend did this to me, but because I let him practice it and didn't run away).

My question now is about the Evil Eye: Is there a way to try to avoid it or cure it?
  • Shield without Breach (I believe), or Curseward.

I guess you are replying my question, Rajan? I don't understand it. :( I am a Blademater, is that something I can do?

Shield tattoo if the opponent doesn't have the Breach skill, or Curseward in Survival.

  • Thank you, Chryenth. I've understood now. :D Shield is hard to have up all the time if in a fight, but I need to learn to use it more, that's for sure.

@Rovelda Shield will stop Evileye if they don't have Truestare. If they do, then only Curseward will actually stop Evileye attacks on you. However, if they you afflict them with the blindness affliction (it's usually a defence), they cannot actually cast Evileye. Curseward is a skill in Survival, but it's extremely far up there, near Trans, if not Trans Survival. But it's not a necessary defence by any means against it.

EDIT: You don't need to Breach past shields if they have the Truestare skill. Shields act as if they aren't there at all if you have enough Evileye, so it wouldn't really help, depending on how far they are in it. However, you do have to always Breach past cursewards.

  • Can't evileye users cure their blindness instantly, without using balance or EQ, with no mana cost?

EDIT: I have no idea. Getting conflicting information >.> And @Velyse, if you're thinking about Epidermal/Sensory, that works too :P But does require/take salve balance

  • Yes, Xer, I noticed Curseward is very advanced in Survival. Looks to me like I have to run away from that if I can...

Back to Thievery. I've got this message happen to me twice. Is it possible to get that message even if nothing is taken from us? I only saw that message, nothing else, not even the thief!:

A soft tug upon your apparel grabs at your attention, and in an instant you
realise that your inventory is lighter.
  • Someone might have illusioned it. Not sure to what end.

Not sure if you get the message without losing anything.
