There's also things like talismans in many of the higher-level areas. There's lots of other things you can do in-game besides bashing though! Here's a short list of things you can try:

    • Roleplay
    • Politics
    • Ships and seafaring
    • Mercantilism
    • Exploration
    • Questing

Both the ships and mercantilism tie in well with that I want, though I'm not sure how well they tie in with Mhaldor. @Trey‌ ?

  • You're also in a quieter city that has limited contact with most of Sapience's population outside of "Die heathen!" and so there's more pressure on you to create opportunities for yourself. See if you can seek out members of opposing factions for vigorous debates and conversions. There are those willing to roleplay out the conflict without the actual PvP.

"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to? You will never find that [everlasting] life for which you are looking. When the gods created man they allotted to him death, but life they retained in their own keeping. As for you, Gilgamesh, fill your belly with good things; day and night, night and day, dance and be merry, feast and rejoice. Let your clothes be fresh, bathe yourself in water, cherish the little child that holds your hand, and make your wife happy in your embrace; for this too is the lot of man."

I know otters like clams (the fishing bait).

And to @Stuneree, there's lots and lots you can do. Tecton suggested a good bit of it. HELP GOALS in-game also has a great list. Get involved with your city or House - learn how to be an aide to a Ministry, or help your House with various needed bits. Exploration is a great one, figuring out quests (including honours quests, which are very rough), roleplaying and figuring out what you want your character to be (from a preacher to a thief to a slum-living disgusting wretch and everything in-between!). Learning lore and history is also very fun, if you're into that sort of thing.

Crafting is another fun thing, though that takes credits to learn of course. Lots to do!

And I love too                                                                          Be still, my indelible friend
That love soon might end                                                         You are unbreaking
And be known in its aching                                                      Though quaking
Shown in this shaking                                                             Though crazy
Lately of my wasteland, baby                                                 That's just wasteland, baby

Mercantilism is a mixed bag. I've had pretty good success with it. Ships, I'm not sure anymore. Kinilan used to be Mhaldor's ship thing. You might want to talk to @Ruth, though.

If I didn't like the people in Mhaldor [OOC and IC] I would absolutely not be there. But I do, so I'll have to tough through it.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll actually look for some of those honours quests maybe. Never realized how people had those on their HONOURS.

@Trey An IC concept of Mhaldor is that wealth isn't allowed to be sought, or at least is "weak and an illusion" etc. - Doesn't that sort of limit my ability to go for it? Plus that fact that I can't do much trading with other cities. Got myself enemied with Cyrene earlier today by accident, heh. More to come, probably.

Another question on that note: Is there a system for hunting rare items, such as just nominal items or even useful ones? Tecton just mentioned talismans in higher areas... If there was a loot-table for denizens that involved rare items, I'd be much more inclined to get my way up there to try it.

Trying to do too much can, in fact, lead to quicker burnout as well. I've had to learn that over and over through my years of playing Achaea. Sometimes it's a good idea to just step back and find time to relax, chat, and just roleplay - a bit harder to do in Mhaldor, but there's always something you can do - have a meal, go explore with a house/citymate, so on and so forth. It's the little things that are most character-building and fun for me, in the end, besides actual tangible goals - and that which keep me here for hours on end, not the tasks.

That said, for your level aide-aspirantship would probably be a good way to get to know your citymates better and figure out how you can be of use. Try also to participate in more events - there are a good number ongoing or that will be ongoing at the moment! It can always be a little bit more difficult for a new person to break through to the established crowd, but it is something that will come in time.

As for the wealth thing, I don't know where you heard that, but uh, I know of at least one House that doesn't subscribe to that. :X

  • Wait why am I hearing things like personal progression and wealth are weakness. What happened @Mhaldor? Personal progression is strength, wealth is power, and both are required to serve the master at your best, are they not?
  • @Jurixe‌ I'm currently an aide in the Ministry of the Ambassador, and getting new people into the City can be pretty fun. But when I'm playing at 3AM, not quite as easy.

Out of the probably 30+ books and scrolls I've read, I'm certain that somewhere there was a full page dedicated to wealth not mattering or not being allowed or something. It also could have been more of an IC reference to resisting greed, not a regulation. Given your position in the City, I'm going to guess you know quite a bit more than I do. ;D

Well thank you then. I'm currently sifting through the wilderness to see if I can find some things, places, and stuff. If I'm not going to get into combat, got to find other stuff to get into.

    Thanks everyone.

People keep saying that piety/gravehands/tentacles only have a 33% proc rate, but I've never believed that. Seems closer to 75% to me, for as long as I've been playing.

Just did a quick test, and these were my immediate results:

24 failed attempts to move from gravehands
    1 success
43 attempts attempts to move from gravehands
    1 success

Usually it's not quite that bad. The rest of my testing after that seemed to average about 5-6 attempts to get out of gravehands or so. It might be bugged somehow.

Does it still cost gold to post to the public news?

    HELP NEWS says:

Due to the high volume of posts on the Public newsboard, there is a cost associated with posting to that section: 5000gp. Posting anywhere else where you have posting access is free.

But ig help files are not often updated, even after sweeping changes to the game. If gold IS still charged, where is that gold deducted from? Your inventory? Your pack? Your bankaccout?

I've posted to public but literally never noticed.

A frenzied cleric screams, "Like more than one halo!"
  • KryptonKrypton shi-Khurena

Public posting is free, as two recent posts to that section (#19504, #19505) just so happened to elucidate.

  • Ok not sure where to post this and everyone I ask IG is like I don't know..so how much is the average price of those assembled carts from the box of parts?

Was a bug - all fixed now!

  • So I've been gone for awhile now and thought about coming back. I didn't want to start a new thread so I figured I'd put my questions here.

    1) Hunting - a) With the new pve changes are all classes more closer together in terms of leveling strength and speed, or do we still have the top contenders (Monk, BM, Runie, Shaman)3

                       b) Are traits and races still a "pick what you like" commodity or are their min max picks for each class. If so what stats/perks should I be looking for for hunting purposes.

                       c) I am assuming artifacts still make everything drool worthy right?

    2) PVP        - a) This is Achaea so I assuming that team red/blue are still at each other as usual?

                        b) Have any recent class changes or updates over the past few years placed any classes high above the rest (ex. Occultists and monks were the go to for raiding, and infernal serpent and jester were the high go to 1v1 people)

3)World         a) I know Shallololam got deleted and a new city came along. Any other major changes to houses/cities other than the new 3 house per city thing thats currently going into play.

Thanks in advance to the help!

    1. Everything pretty much moved to a medium ground for DPS. Most classes that were bad before moved up and monk/bm got nerfed. The problem is that endurance/willpower costs weren't checked and tankability wasn't always taken into concern. I'd honestly say that serpent and knight classes are probably the best now at bashing.

    b. There's always going to be some optimization that you can do with races and traits. The statpack change wasn't meant to eliminate optimization, but to give more viability to other races and builds. Generally, for hunting you want con/damage stat. That would be strength for physical classes and intelligence for magical ones.

    2) PVP        - a) This is Achaea so I assuming that team red/blue are still at each other as usual?

    2. Kinda. There's not really any heavy collaboration between city-states anymore, the previous event non-withstanding. Relations can get downright frosty at times.

    B. I'm not good enough to really testify to this, so I'll leave it to others.

3)World         a) I know Shallololam got deleted and a new city came along. Any other major changes to houses/cities other than the new 3 house per city thing thats currently going into play.

The Druids are now in Eleusis and the Crown Merchants have moved to Delos. Other than that, every House is undergoing revisions and may or may not be removed or changed moving forward.

Thanks in advance to the help!

Hunting: Without artefacts, weapon-using classes (knights, bard, not so much serpent because of sacrificing Con for dex) completely overwhelm other classes in terms of DPS. With artefacts, priest just dominates everything, on par with old monk, while knights/bard/serpent/jester are great too. Aside from those classes, the other 10 are pretty much identical DPS, but with varying costs/drains/difficulties (such as swiftcurse)/tankiness.

I have 307 credits and not sure what to use them for. I'm Trans Elementalism and crystalsim, as well as avoidance, survival, and riding. I've no interest in philosophy or any other mini skills as they're rather situation-specific and not much fun.

I also have an ice figurine thing. I've thought about a collar for my mammoth, but are there any worthwhile artifacts at that cost? I'd like something that helps with bashing and PvP at the same time or at least PvE.

    Advice?

Do you already have a tuning fork?  Pretty sure fork (150cr) is still a must for devotionists and magi.

Otherwise I'd save for level 1 collar (400cr)

Saving for an SoA isn't the worst idea, they are 500cr.

I was considering it. But both that and the collar means another rl month.  Are ice figurines worth anything?

Ice figurines are good for 50cr off the cost of a customisation.
