What's the rationale behind clumsy being able to affect dstab though? Makes "unstoppable" momentum classes like occie/alch harder to deal with. Then again, apples and oranges.
It does mean there's now a functional difference between DSTAB <target> CURARE KALMIA and DSTAB <target> KALMIA CURARE, due to the way envenoming works. With the former, your second stab has the curare (i.e. they'll never not get paralysis), but may avoid the kalmia; with the latter, your second stab has the kalmia (i.e. they'll never not get asthma), but may dodge the curare.
The story is that I had been fighting Carbine. He leaves, Atalkez and Antidas show up. I fight Atalkez, but Carbine comes back. He attacks me, Atalkez keeps fighting me while Antidas takes on Carbine. I decide to step out for a moment because 2 people where hitting me quite hard. Then we end the match in a draw:
I'm just going to have a clumsy self check in my venom selection to push curare to the second stab if I'm clumsy. Can ignore that check if they're paralyzed or prone because you can't miss them even if you're clumsy.
That's a good point. Going to have to switch my combos around. Ergh. Effort.
@Makarios: Any chance we could switch the order venoms are secreted on dstab so the order they're in the command matches the order they're actually stabbed? Would make it more intuitive. People can then just do DSTAB <target> KALMIA CURARE if they want the curare second/to never miss (which they probably want).
All envenoming is last-on, first-off. Changing venom order only for dstab doesn't make it more intuitive.
P.S. Hitting a reflection with dstab doesn't consume the first venom layer. Dstab darkshade curare will destroy the reflection on first hit, deliver curare on second.
All envenoming is last-on, first-off. Changing venom order only for dstab doesn't make it more intuitive.
I would strongly argue that changing the order that it secretes so that the order you specify the venoms in the command matches the order you hit with those venoms makes dstab much more intuitive. The venoms themselves would still be used last-on, first-off by the dstab, same as all other envenoming.
Krypton, you're a non-combatant, check your pedantic high-horse at the door.
When a player puts in venom#1/venom#2, they expect venom #1 to hit first, then venom #2. That's how it works with every other class that uses in-line envenoming; in particular DSL is designed to apply left/right when using in-line envenoming, so that venoms are delivered first/second as one would expect. Serpent is now an odd exception to this rule because now it's the only class that delivers two venoms with the same weapon concurrently, which makes the use of in-line envenoming less intuitive than other classes that use similar mechanics.
Switching the application order so that, yes, Dstab accounts for Achaea's first-on, last-off rule and applies venom1 second and venom2 first would make things easier for new players just learning, and for old players who have several classes that use the established in-line envenoming conventions.
-- Grounded in but one perspective, what we perceive is an exaggeration of the truth.
noncoms should know their role. Back to the kiddie table, Krypton, adults are speaking.
things like venom order are a -big deal- and can make or break a fight. The fact that you do not understand why people are concerned about it says a lot as to why you should not be giving any sort of opinion on it
Pre-envenoming a weapon is always last on first off. Dstab seems to follow the same logic (I know, dangerous word). You secrete Kalmia then Curare over it. The curare should it first, then the kalmia. If you miss due to clumsiness, the curare should hit.
Tharos, the Announcer of Delos shouts, "It's near the end of the egghunt and I still haven't figured out how to pronounce Clean-dat-hoo."
I fit my DSL venom tracking to DSTAB and realized that venom1 is actually venom2 due to the single weapon thing. I just have a swap in my DSTAB function that swaps curare to position 2 if I'm clumsy so it will just repara and miss the other venom to help with stacking.

I was sitting on phoenix incase something silly happened. Also wasn't fighting as well as I could have. I really havn't fixed up a good combat system since coming back. Too many classes to play with.

This is why you need to swap curare positions when clumsy.

Got it on the last ditch effort. Awesome fight, @Alrena!
Penwize has cowardly forfeited the challenge to mortal combat issued by Atalkez.
You want dstab venom1 venom2 to give the secretion message for the venom in the second position, first? Yeah, intuitive.

What you said sounds like a load of irrelevance to how envenoming a single weapon works.
