Every time someone tells me to "avoid" a monks incredibly complex setup (a few combos to a leg), is on drugs. I'm not saying that everyone does this, but at least 75% of the monks I fight shield prep their way to an unavoidable single/double leg break.
I've added very awesome illusions and rebounding tricks that help a lot, but all this does is make sure they don't get a double leg break. A single leg break is 100% unstoppable, and as Strata said, the other leg is almost always the next combo anyways.
Also understand that if I completely disregard hypnosis as an offensive tool (so that I can save it for surviving leg breaks) then it is no longer possible to lock, or stack more than 2 afflictions on a shield whore.
And more on the mount, since you guys are fascinated with this. Why couldn't he just banish it then ... wait a few seconds for more kai? Like I said, I'm going to re-visit the world of mounted combat, but I'm not excited about it, and I don't think it will make any difference, aside from adding more time & more "flay <target> shield" to the prep phase. If a monk doesn't want you to have a chance, then you simply don't.
IRT the arties, as Strata picked up on, I wasn't showing off arties/health to boost my ego. My point is that I'm near the top-end possible health for a serpent, and I'm level 99. Even with runes, I made it clear that surviving this isn't possible... and if I can't survive this, with what Nemutaur considered one of the most intense offenses he's ever seen, and all that health & artefacts, I don't see how any other serpent could.
I'm not arguing to argue here, guys, and I know there are a few gimmicks that can make single leg breaks survivable. I just wanted to show that 1) the break is -not- preventable. slow prepping is a very real, and unstoppable thing. 2) when it does break, if you're not Cooper or Jhui, you are going to die.
So far the only truly useful advice I've gotten on this topic was from Strata, who recommended to me that I simply don't fight monks who shield heavily, ever. Not boasting here, but literally everyone who fights me leans on shield. Monks are the only one that turn that into an advantage.

You could just leave on banish? I'm pretty sure walking out of the room gives me no kai. If you're confident enough that you can survive my finisher that has no enfeeble you could even stay in the room and suggest a whole new hypno chain or hope I use rebounding and smack me with a nice fat flail to reset or throw off the limb count.
EDIT: Oh forgot to mention you can just mount on something else, even buy 5 Moghedu mules and cycle through those.
So Rakon and I randomly decide it would be pretty fun and interesting to pit two fallen characters (priestess and infernal) against each other. Decided why not, headed to North of New Thera, and the following ensued!
Should be noted I doubt either of us were fully deffed for this (I didn't even have bedevil up, looking back), nor did he have any essence (and thus I made myself not use any devotion). It was entirely random, but quite fun. Thanks Rakon for being a good sport.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
Dude, you weren't even here for Ashura icon axk's, were you? Just count your lucky stars, bro, and be thankful, like the rest of us
@anedhel I've been playing Achaea for almost 15 years, I was here for cooper's one hit kill web/axk's, and died to them quite a few times. He also defended them then, as the concensus at the time was: "buy buckawns, axk is fine."
@Shecks Are you on crack? At that point in the game I had never been a monk. I also didn't have any arties. Nice try, though.
Edit: Thinking back, I actually might have been horkval monk back then starting my bashing to dragon. Definitely didn't have arties though making it impossible to have done that.
What speaks volumes about you is that you've never, ever, spoken to me or interacted with me in game in a non-gank scenario, yet you make broad statements regarding what I have or have not learned. Half of the suggestions that have been made have already incorporated into my system, and I am buying a mount tonight. Please try to stop being a crowd pleasing dolt by insulting people, to be one of the cool kids, even if you get city favors for it.
The reason I posted the log was because artied monk -is- OP. If you choose to ignore the volumes if threads and logs that clearly outline how and why certain things need reviewed, then feel free to do so, but please try to be an adult about it. We have more than enough forum RPing targossians as it is without your help.

I have gone through like 12 mules since I came back from dormant. And only even fought like 7 times.
But I support this. Buy them mules.
