@Strata - you use them to decrease the likelihood of your opponent curing something you don't want them to cure (epilepsy=focus/goldenseal/tree, lethargy=ginseng/tree). Almost the entire point of serpent combat nowadays. (As opposed to easy-to-win illusions a few years back). As others said though, they do have their own useful effects anyway. Lethargy's balance increase, and epilepsy disrupts balance (knocks them of balance for about a second or two) every time it ticks - when you see them foaming at the mouth. Definitely not useless

@Hirst: Not really much fun for me, either. What I've experienced so far is that Occultist has fast afflicting and if you fall behind too much it can turn nasty really quickly, so if I'm falling behind I'm going to give myself the opportunity to catch back up.

I'd honestly love to have the opportunity to spend ages with an Occultist, learn exactly how everything works, and decide which changes I need to make so I can fight against it and make the fights fun again. That's not exactly easy to do when your faction is opposed to all of them, and the only fights I do get against them I'm either overwhelmed quickly by afflictions or forced to resort to shit like that.

Ugh, that was pretty bad luck. Still trying to get stuff for Occultist sorted. Right now it seems far, far better than any other class at punishing even small mistakes in curing, especially considering there's absolutely no prep involved.
