Name: Wonders Partial name: wonders Description: A set of Talismans from old Shop of Wonders items. Talismans: a barnacle-crusted bucket (baitbucket) a Dragonskin pack (dragonskinpack) a platinum whistle (platinumwhistle) a ram's horn (ramshorn) Terrin'ukia's Monocole (monocle) a Globe of Shifting Continents (globe)
You can use TALISMAN INFO <talisman> to find out the pieces of each in game.
As fun as the gambling is, I feel like on average, even a good draw from the globes comes out behind other promotions. It makes it hard to justify purchasing them.

With the talisman pieces being extra loot that you can get on each globe open you actually get out ahead now.
I might be negative Nancy here, but it seems like to me there are going to be a fair amount of people that spend hundreds or possibly over a thousand credits to get talisman pieces, then the promotion ends, nobody is willing to sell the last piece or two they need, no new pieces, and all those credits they've spent will have gone to waste?
All told, it's worth a bit more than what I paid for it, if I can sell the pieces for a good price. I'd buy again, if I didn't think I'd have to suffer the wrath of the bookkeeper.

race!
the Talisman pieces in globes feels like the biggest scam ever. It reminds me of those gashapon machines where I'd put half-dollar (apparently now inflated to upwards of 4 dollars!) after half-dollar in an attempt to get the figurine I want. After a while it stopped even being exciting because all I could think of was all the allowance I'd put into it.
Did you guys make all the bucket pieces except the handle super common, and then make the handle super rare? That's so amazing. I wish I had money to give you. It seems like literally everyone wants a bucket handle. I really wish I had buckle handle items to start handing out.
I'm curious as to what happens when the promotion ends and a bunch of people are left with part talismans that don't make up a set. Bucket-monocle anyone?

Nope, all the pieces in the Wonders set have exactly the same chance of coming up. That's distinct from the other Talisman sets, where typically one or two pieces in a particular Talisman are much rarer than the others. We did this to diminish the number of pieces that are 'orphaned' after the promo is over.
Rather, the pieces in a particular Talisman in the Wonders set all have exactly the same chance of coming up. (Different Talismans in the Wonders set are rarer overall than others, but the pieces within each Talisman are equally weighted.)

I'm a little skeptical of that since it's just one piece that so many people are missing. The stats of that don't really add up do they? It shouldn't be this pronounced if they all do have an equal chance. Maybe that's how it's intended, but are you sure that's how it's actually panning out?
I don't think enough globes have been sold for everyone to expect an exact ratio of everything. Numbers don't work that way. I highly doubt Sarapis would straight up lie about it, and accusing him of doing just that is rather rude. It might be that the bucket set is just 2% chance to be in a globe, and then another set of chances for different pieces. It's entirely feasible a few pieces would be more rare than others. The people who get the bucket handles are probably just using them or saw that they seemed rare at first so they decided to hoard and sell when the price inflates.
(I still think you should have made something more rare than other pieces, though. You're so nice.)

I'm not going to claim that he's purposely lying or anything, as I too find it incredibly unlikely that they would lie when they could just stand by saying that it's a gamble, but it certainly seems like something has made the reality of the situation different from what it should be in theory. I mean, sure, it would be hard to have a perfect numerical balance with the low amount of data, but that doesn't change the fact that there are a ton of handleless buckets out there. I mean, statistically it could happen, but I really don't think it's likely that it would.

Not a bad result, all things considered.

Squirrel, goat kid, hermit crab, and Baarian tiger cub.
I wish I had the description for all of them before buying so I could see what they look like and what they do, though.
