I remember getting really annoyed about something once and being really loud and shouty on forums, and @Tecton totally took the wind out of my sails by fixing it and talking to me about it and making me feel all sorts of warms and happy in my cold bitter heart.
Achaea has - besides re-igniting my love of the fantasy genre - improved my typing speed, accuracy, added resistance to using the 'txt speak' that only Internet Peasants use, got rid of my bad breath and cured the common cold.

Damn you customer service!
Damn you!!
Sayyyy, do you think I could get obfuscated vials fixed if I did that? Hmmmmmmm.....
@Sarapis — Firm as in solid like cheddar cheese, or firm like maybe-possibly-could be done if we felt like it tofu?
"Faded away like the stars in the morning, Losing their light in the glorious sun, Thus would we pass from this earth and its toiling, Only remembered for what we have done."
Thank you for letting me arbitrarily execute people. The other game I play (RL) had a lot of rules about PK and this has really been a breath of fresh air.
Tons of players, and the graphics are amazing, but no one knows how to RP there (except drama queens!). And some areas (USA) are horrible about issuing.
Give it time. That game has permadeath, then lets you create a new character on a different server. Only problem is they promise you fifty different servers, but only one or two are real, if any!
I have been playing Achaea for a fair while now, over ten years in fact. Mostly on Draekar with a side of alt, or even before Draekar on long lost chars I dabbled with over the years.
I can't say every interaction I have had with the Garden and other admin has been perfect, much like @Silas and others I have had my share of run-ins with certain over-zealous divine players.
What I can say is the current Garden crew is one of the best I have ever played under.
@Clementius was simply amazing, his responses always quick and detailled, he was always overly polite if a little bit of a smart-ass from time to time. I can hapily say that @Tecton has done a great job of following on since he became our go to guy. I don't interact that often with Tecton but when I do I have always found his responses as fast and polite as Clementius was (even when he has been travelling and I know he is obviously really busy). I'll always hold the fact Tecton is an Aussie against him though
I can't make this post without mentioning a few other divine players I love too
Phaestus the last: Got me into rp-ing and helped get me addicted to Achaea, will always remember those fun times as a nublet running around after the Phaesteans of that time.
@Phaestus the current: Simply amazing. I was always spoilt and looked after on every level, from rp to coding and even during my down times when *shallam was pissing me off to no end. I would have likely gone dormant by now if it wasn't for such a great order and divine keeping me engaged and keeping parts of achaea fun over the years.
Mirarmar the second to last: You were so awesome, if you had of stayed I wouldn't be surprised if Shallam was turned around and would still be chugging along today. We had so much success and fun during your time, and it was absolutely the best time I have ever had playing a Shallam char.
@Miramar the last: You know who you were and you know you were great! They should let you multiplay more often!
@Pentharian the last: There isn't a player in Team Good I respect more. We didn't always see eye to eye and to be honest you took forever to get any bloody thing done But at the end of the day you were a volunteer with a busy life and you went out on such a high that I believe that you will always be remembered. No one did Good RP better than you did, from small interactions to mass Q&A sessions I have to give you thanks for everything you put up with and did, especially in the last year or so. I don't know a nicer guy in Achaea!
@Sarapis: Don't really know you beyond your forum posts but I love the fact you are approachable, you interact a lot, and do your best to stay connected and responsive. Nothing but praise for that.
@Carden: *Click* nice guy, working hard behind the scenes, keep up the good work I know it is appreciated.
@Aurora: Last but never least is the new kid on the block. If I am honest I didn't know if I'd find what I was looking for when I left the Phaesteans to try a change of direction fully behind the new Team Good. I have to say though that I am loving it to bits. Your Rp is awesome and I can't believe I have been so lucky as to find myself following another cool and engaging Divine!
@Everyone else: I have been lucky to have had hundreds of interactions with Divine over the years and good or bad I appreciate them all
Every day Achaea is alive is a Dear Sarapis thread.
I gave it five years until MUDs were totally dead when I opened it in 1997, so it's all gravy now!
That's what pioneers do, make happy accidents! The virtual property for money business model was a success.
I wasn't around for much time on Achaea, but the people I've interacted with directly or indirectly has also been a pleasure. The business model with the people behind the gods make the game.
Clem (*duck lightning*) was awesome and Tecton is also
I'm adding my voice to this as well. I stumbled across Achaea back in 01/02 when I was looking for a place to escape from the pressures of the exam period and all the crap that gets heaped on kids doing their last year of high school. Over the years it's honed my typing ability, my inter personal skills with other people, got me interested enough to teach myself coding, and I've made friend with some awesome people. In fact, my first trip anywhere was to a meet in Orlando, that caused no amount of anxiety in my mum when I told her that I was going to another country to meet a group of people I've only known from the internet. I even got the opportunity to interview Clementius for an assignment when I went on to study IT during my career change. It's been the tireless work of the admin that has set that standard for quality work that I use to judge other games by and what has kept me coming back. Thanks! >-
Janeway: Tuvok! *clapclap* Release my hounds!
Krenim: Hounds? How cliche.
Janeway: Tuvok! *clapclap* Release my rape gorilla!
As a game, I absolutely hate Achaea. You'll find it difficult to find a single mechanic or a single game design decision in the game that I actually like. The entire game would probably have to be redesigned from ground up to make me happy with it, and a cursory glance at IRE's other games suggests that they didn't succeed where Achaea failed.
So, thanks admin people for somehow making me addicted to a game I objectively abhor, and thanks for actually making it fun on top of all that. I don't know how you did it, I can only assume cult brainwashing techniques were involved or something like that.
I-I'm not logging in because I l-l-like you, o-or anything. I just felt like it, th-that's all! y-you baka!
Love, Nim (who totally isn't tsundere at all, ICly or OOCly, no sir!)

One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one's work is terribly important
Losing their light in the glorious sun,

Speaking on behalf of the Achaean population -
We like it firm.
