I came for the teasers, I stayed for the Zelda references.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
The diving fix inspired me to go diving, and I was really excited to find a 9-bell chest (the highest I've ever gotten was 5 before, I think). It was a new type of chest that could only be opened by the new skeleton key, so I immediately started trying to get everyone I knew to cook fish so they could get fingers. After a while I finally got enough fingers for the key, which was super exciting. Afterwards I tried to prepare for more diving by getting more fingers, but I cooked 200 bass and only got 1 finger, and you need 5. And there's no way to get them aside from cooking fish.
Is there any possibility of reducing scrimshaw from requiring 5 fingers to 1 finger, or making it a bit more likely to get fingers, or able to find them while diving? I'm not sure how frequently I'll encounter chests that can ONLY be unlocked via skeleton key, but I'd like to at least have one skeleton key just in case.
I really, really, really love the new content and how it's reinvigorated diving, thank you so much for all your work on it @Ictinus@Rhivona@Nicola@alltheotheradmin.
The only thing I am not a fan of is the more design skills the longer the wait becomes as more and more designs need supervision. Really wish you guys added some kind of... I don't know. Something to alleviate the problem.
And you won't understand the cause of your grief...

You mean like the maximum designs a single person can have going at once?

Thats a bandaid at best.

Any way that metal etchings could be added to the artistry skill at some point? [says the person who hasn't scrounged the bound credits for a license yet]

More fingers, please! Willing to donate my own if it helps... :P
Give us -real- shop logs! Not another misinterpretation of features we ask for, turned into something that either doesn't help at all, or doesn't remotely resemble what we wanted to begin with.
Thanks!
Current position of some of the playerbase, instead of expressing a desire to fix problems:
Vhaynna: "Honest question - if you don't like Achaea or the current admin, why do you even bother playing?"
Looking at the list of available drinks, why do we only have milkshakes and buttermilk (gross!) but not regular milk?
Something something cooking ingredient, something something infinitely replenishing loop of milk, something something BAD THINGS. Also, for the chefs/drinkmakers out there, you now no longer need to outrift the individual ingredients. They can be either in your inventory or in your rift (except the liquid ingredients, those still need to be in a vial or other appropriate container)
Is there any chance vessels can be made to not auto destroy after the drink is consumed? I can imagine it was made this way to avoid littering but could at least give then a one day timer to make them reusable on certain settings. Otherwise they are a bit too expensive, specially compared to denizen wares.

Halving the price of vessels was a great move, and I love it. However, in the spirit of continuing to improve things, is there any chance beverage equipment could be made to last... well, longer. Preferably much longer? Otherwise the price is a bit steep when you take into account everything else that goes into each drink.
I've said this directly to the staff (in far fewer words of course), but I wonder how many people agree, or if I uniquely think so.
To me, the vessel specialisation of beverages seems a bit odd as you can only submit designs, not actually craft anything directly.
I know Achaea favors game mechanics over realism or immersion, but it's also a bit odd that my character can be a legendary smith, trans tailor/furnisher, and able to make barrels, but cannot make a single cup (wood or metal) or wineskin, despite apparently having the engineering knowledge to design one and many of the related mechanical skills.
Also, many people pick up tradeskills for convenience of being able to personally make something, so not having that seems a bit strange.
I guess its a bit like furniture in that regard, but for furniture its much less of an issue, because furniture is not a consumable, and people usually manufacture on demand. They also last a lot of time. Beverages/vessels are consumables, which means that for any given event you either have to create lots and lots and lots of vessels, and risk creating more than you need, or perpetually go in and out of an event to find the needed crafter.
And you won't understand the cause of your grief...
On a different note, I really think barrels and the like should be made to last the same as other pieces of furniture. That or the aging of drinks made to work much faster. Otherwise its gonna be cutting it pretty close getting a drink ready before the barrel or cask decays, to say nothing of using them to age another drink.
At a cost of 250 wood that's a bit too much.
And you won't understand the cause of your grief...
Having had some time to play around with beverages in particular, but now a tiny little tad of artistry, I'm really loving these new tradeskills.
A ton of things have been improved, like barrels (awesome!) and the SHOW SESSIONS command. But some things do still feel a bit unwieldy, or obtuse to work with. So I'd thought I'd share my thoughts on that, and possible improvements.
Wine. There is no liquid type for just plain old wine, you either have to use fruitwine or barleywine, which can make interacting with the drink after fermenting it kinda weird since DRINK WINE, or TAKE WINE FROM <x> won't recognize the new beverage, you'd have to use FRUITWINE or BARLEYWINE as the noun. Fixing both fruitwine/barleywine to interact with the singular wine noun would help alleviate some of the confusion.
Aging. There isn't really any way to request a specific aging time for a newly designed beverage, I know I've heard some people express sentiments of wanting to make very top-shelf and long aged beverages, but there isn't any way to communicate this to the crafter's guild. Adding another design option for aged beverage sketches, DESIGN SKETCH AGEDYEARS <#> would be super useful, and similar to adding/removing ingredients the approver could override if the design is deemed to have an inappropriate amount of time for the drink. Also having the aged time show up on NDS PROBE could be useful.
Specialisations. It is entirely possible I'm missing something, but it doesn't feel like there is any real way to check your current beverage specialisations, and therefor what you can make/design. This would be a nice addition to have this show somewhere, and it would be further helpful if a simple BEVERAGES command showed you the syntaxes for checking your specialisations, specialising in, and unspecialising just to make the skill a little more straightforward.
Dropping an artistry canvas. Again I've only just started with artistry, so I may just be missing something here. But it doesn't seem like there is any way to retrieve, disassemble, mushroom, destroy or move a canvas once it has been dropped in a subdivision home, and no warning before you drop it. Adding in a way to PULL on a canvas and take it off a wall if you have furniture permissions would be super helpful, or some other way to get rid of the painting, otherwise you're stuck with it in that spot until it decays (if it even does!).

Regretting that.. “Risqué” Aegoth picture you put up in your bedroom?
The Divine voice of Twilight echoes in your head, "See that it is. I espy a tithe of potential in your mortal soul, Astarod Blackstone. Let us hope that it flourishes and does not falter as so many do."
Aegis, God of War says, "You are dismissed from My demense, Astarod. Go forth and fight well. Bleed fiercely, and climb the purpose you have sought to chase for."
Oh, right, you can now PULL the canvas to retrieve it, provided you have the proper authority to do so (building owner for houses, city leader for cities etc). Apologies, it appears I did not actually post this update when it was implemented.
Will take a look at the Specialisations point soon.
