Happy holidays to some, school breaks to others, Logosmas to hardcore Achaeans (all of us, right?), and normal daily lives to the rest!

For those on break from school/celebrating vacation: What will you be up to? Anyone playing any cool video games on the downtime? Books? Traveling? Are you happy with how 2012 has went?

For those celebrating holidays: What holiday[s] do you all celebrate? What kind of food do you make (this is super important)? Fun activities/traditions?

After the holidays (and for those who celebrate), I expect this thread to turn into the "show off your cool presents" thread.

Latkes are always tasty. Think I will make them for Christmas. Also, eggnog.

Tomorrow, driving 14 hours (if I'm lucky and don't have to deal with too much snow and traffic) to my parents' house. Fortunately, I get along with my family, and they live somewhere where it doesn't get dark at 4pm, so should be a good couple weeks.

happy [holiday of choice] to all! Nothing super fun here, just going to different dinners for the majority of next week...woo for not having to cook >.>

still making cookies and buying/wrapping gifts. tonight is down time....been so busy!

i might be making a trip up to Greenwich to see my cousins at the end of next week, but nothing is finalised yet.

The recipe I generally use is the cooked version of this. Usually with a little extra bourbon, or the bourbon replaced with dark rum if I'm making it for my sister.

I'm not a Christian, so I don't really celebrate Christmas, but I've always loved this holiday anyway because so many people are happy. It's an excuse to meet up with people I love (thankfully I love most of my family) and spend time together, which I like.

My favourite part of the holiday though is getting people presents, even though I don't have to. I want to! I only get a very select few people presents, and I put a lot of thought into them because I want them to know that they mean enough that I've been paying attention to them. Their likes and dislikes, their hobbies, their history, and I will happily spend hours trawling through the Internet and shops until I find something that just clicks and I know - that's perfect for them.

I don't know, I just love it - I love their expressions when they get/open the present, the exclamations, the smiles (hopefully!) but most of all I like that they know someone was thinking about them. Genuinely nothing else in the world makes me happier than to know that I made someone I care about happy. I don't care about nor want any presents (though so many thank yous to those who did

) I just want the people I care about (and people in general!) to be happy.

So, I guess it's a bit early but here's a present for all of you anyway! No matter how difficult life has been for you this year, you are amazing for having gotten through it all and making it this far. You should be happy and you should smile, because you deserve it and life is really too short to waste on worrying about things you can't control, or dwelling on regrets. Let them go, because you should live life happy. You are awesome! Remember that you are loved by a ton of people who care about you, and somewhere, you're in someone's thoughts, so you should feel special because somebody is thinking about you.

Be proud of who you are, be proud of everything you've done. Don't focus on the negatives, but look in the mirror and see the awesome person that you are. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise because they don't know what it's like to be you and live your life, so why should you let them control your self-esteem? No arguing with me because I am always right!

Most of all, just be happy.

Even when everything looks terrible, remember that you are awesome, you will get through it as you always have before, and that you are incredible.
