They missed their chance to make a new area where all the souls of the dead Gods roamed and you could go and bash Gods for max XP. ZombieGods would have been perfect for Halloween
My wild guess is that this all leads to the ruins of Shallam finally being open to explore, with a bunch of different sorts of new diving mechanics for ships as it becomes the first "treasure hold" where you have to play various little mini games in order to get different kinds of treasure. There will also be a lot of waterlogged ghosts, and an area where the Crystalline Circle's master crystal is that acts similar to the foray with the ship - you do or step somewhere wrong and everything freaking explodes.
Also orphans who wail eerily in the water about how you never rescued them.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
There is one thing we can all agree on. Microstransactions! Yay!
Also, genuinely pleased to see it listed as starting at 6pm GMT on a Friday evening. Typically, I'll probably not be there for that evening, but pleased none the less.

Don't forget a mini horror game with you running away from an angry Spirit-Pericles, where the only way to slow him down is by closing or opening doors in his presence.
Most of my favorite events change the way we play the game for a while. I'm sort of hoping there is some of that so it feels like the event has "presence" in between the fancy parts. Just a few examples being the tide, the event where sleepers spawned manifestations from their dreams, and things like that. Not all of them were implemented without hiccups, to be sure, but I do really enjoy the feeling of having to adapt to the way the events alter the world.
A new quest system. We are given the option to create our own quests and grant others the chance to attempt them. This will have features such as walking to a specific room, interacting with items in areas, collecting certain items, etc. These quests can also be rated by other players based on how good they are (naturally we will assume the players will also judge the spelling and errors within) and, if it reaches a high enough rating, will be placed on a quest board that can be selected by anyone.
Additionally the new system will add hints at terms to use to get answers or phrases from current NPCs as
well as more creative twists to current (and very outdated) quests. The "Quest Log" will
finally incorporate all current quests in the game and info of each. This will
require all current quests to be transferred to this new system.
- Family system.
The family system is overhauled and presented with new mechanics. An individual will need to first declare their house's name at the registry to start their house. All current 'family clans' will be transferred into this new system as a Family House. Families are able to gain 'prestige' points through a number of ways, most related to activity. Families may choose to 'ally' their family with a city state, thus conferring more bonuses. A house is able to ally with another or declare it an enemy for whatever purpose it wishes. Smaller houses may pledge themselves to much grander houses. The 5 top houses of the land will be recognized as 'noble' houses. Avenues to increase prestige are:
* Slaying a city enemy (must be linked to the city-state) * Slaying a member of an enemy family. * Rising in City rank (must be linked to the city-state) * Gaining a new honors * Gaining a City position (must be linked to the city-state) * Gaining a House position * Slaying a certain number of creatures in a day * Crafting a certain number of items in a day * The amount of mining facilities controlled by family members * The amount of gold gained in a year * The amount of shops owned by family members * Sinking a ship (Bonus if city enemy if linked or owned by an enemy family) * Defeating a sea monster * Claiming victory at world games (Foozle, egghunt etc.) * The amount of people wearing/using your designs <--- Not sure if this is feasible
A family leader may oust one from their family in shame or may even 'adopt' one not of their family to take up their name. A family may also subsume a smaller family if the leader of said smaller family agrees to do so, thus its members becoming part of the larger family.
- War system.
War, you know War. Big, boom, kill, pillage. Boom again.
What the new system would have:
* Each city starts off with a standard amount of troops * The need to recruit troops, this involves the amount of villages under your city's control as well acquired resources * Villages can become under your control through peaceful negotiations or outright enslavery. This involves sending in city troops or diplomats (that replace troop numbers). * Villages can be freed from the control of another city-state. * Each village offers unique troop appearances (Some with special abilities, such as flight). * Troops can be customized with city modifications for unique strategies. * Troops can be directed at city-states, but this requires an immense amount to attempt to siege it. * A city state under siege can utilize its own acquired troops in an attempt to fend off the invaders. * A city under siege would need to defend itself by fighting back the troops in its borders. The longer they remain, the more destruction they cause. * Invading troops require morale to continue their fighting, this requires the enemies to bolster the troops by being in their presence. Troops that lose morale will become much weaker and easier to kill as well as some that may abandon their charge and flee the city. The longer a battle goes on, the faster troops will lose morale.
Maybe they'll finally implement all of the dragon emotes I IDEA'd a while back! You know, dragonsnuggle, dragoncuddle, dragonpurr...
Yeah it'll be part of the new city dragon system, where every city's dragons gets a whole new skill. Targ dragons get devotion, Mhaldor dragons get necromancy, Ashtan dragons get domination. Cyrene's dragons skill will just be a list of emotes.

I don't mind if the Cyrene emotes pacifies you for 1 minute cos dragonpurr so cute.
IMO they should have sat on the liquids change for a few days then released it on UPCOMING day and played up how much back end work was required for it.
Achaea is being upgraded with 4k resolution, high definition shadows, and 60fps bashing. Still may experience a drop in frames during large scale raids due to bloom and multiple spell effects.
I was having a long chat with my 12yr old yesterday about Achaea and he was amazed there was so much in it for a text game. He then laughed and said "How would you feel one day if you logged in and they'd changed it all to graphics?"

I'm looking forward to anti-aliasing. Everyone has to type out commands in full.
Just some tidbits I stumbled upon that may add to the enticing wait. Not only interesting but also saddening that I missed out on what seems like a wonderful opportunity...

I can’t help but to think this was in preparation for the “big release”. Some other theories I saw mentioned earlier in this thread that I noticed comments made that were “related” in thought; It’s been posted that they are a fan of races that don’t mean much mechanically as well as a ton of discussion around “mudsex” in relation to the new MUD. Maybe they liked the last one so much they decided to port it over!
The job postings were specifically for Achaea. The other comments I listed were for Starmourn which is why mentioned “related” as the context wasn’t Achaea specific.
All of this makes me wish my character weren't so new. I doubt the big release will be as accessible.
