My retort is that different doesn't also mean that it's a good thing either, and that whether or not it's good or bad is a more complex than simply the fact that it's 'different'.

Importing theme from Lusternia (gnomes, spaceships, general clockwork silliness) would be 'different', but I'm pretty sure we'd all agree that it's bad.
