haha, well counter rave to Caoi, always a good sport in life or death. And I can't believe I stopped sipping for no reason! XD
@Aepas me too man! I dont know what happened. Suddenly my mana just dropped through the floor and I wasnt healing! Hence the reason I was not attacking I was busy panicking about my health and mana. I was like noooooooo! Oh. I'm dead. Lovely. AGAIN!!
Also...you are such a jerk ic.:P Caoi looks up to Aepas and Aepas is like. You are a worthless piece of nothing! Wasted talent! Wasted time! I wont respect you even if you respect me. Die you worthless piece of crap! But deep down somewhere. Aepas is a softy....maybe. okay no. Not really.
I'd like to say thanks. Thanks to the developers, who made such a great game, thanks to the multitude of Targossians who put up with me figuring out this game, Tesha and Ada especially. I've been playing this game for two weeks now, but the sheer amount of laughs, smiles, and facepalms it has created has been wonderful. Whether it's trying to suffer the tyrannical demands of my mentor (Blueberries! WHERE DO I FIND BLUEBERRIES), to writing awful poetry about Aurora, to trying to figure out how somebody just killed me, I've been having a blast.
Big rave to @Oceana, generally for being a fantastic house leader, and specifically for making me feel a lot less nervous about upcoming changes, both ICly and OOCly. She's kind of hugely fantastic and amazing, just saying.

Rave for Eleusis' sportsmanship. Often outnumbered and outgunned, but I've never seen anyone throw tantrums after a bad raid. Its always like... "great job guys! We valiantly defended this grove until we were dreadfully curbstomped *chorus of ewok cheers*"
Seriously, the optimism even spills into city logs:
> Raid by Ashtan on Eleusis. Attackers were Gyrth, Jarrod, Jinsun, Hirst, Jhui, Taraus, Kross, Dalran. Our valiant defenders were Ellodin, Vrook, Melodie, Tohran, Aluciana, Grondson, Mephaos, Lazareth, Rollanz, and Aktillum. Heavy casualities on both sidesled to Ashtan giving up and heading to Cyrene instead, no tanks placed.

This is 100% what you need to do to ensure people enjoy raiding and defending when they take part in it. I think it's why Eleusis has a really solid raid response, it's a 'might as well go for it, it's not like we're losing anything' attitude that makes people care less about potentially messing up and more just try to do whatever they can.

We killed like 3 and lost our whole group rofl
The above raid was a point of frustration for me personally (they went for me first the bastards), but I got over it and actually roleplayed a bit afterwards with it, and the raids since then have gone much smoother overall and actually have been quite fun. To add to the raves, today I got enemied to Ashtan after wandering in to find a good raid point for Eleusis, we raided and:
2014/05/25 17:25:06 - Melodie has sanctioned a raid against The City of Ashtan.
Was absolutely surprised to land this, and kind of proud of myself, considering it wasn't but about two years ago that I was a complete non-com. Granted they didn't have a lot of the regular defenders, so we made it a short raid (Rangor had to go to the movies anyway, that bugger), but it and the recent raid tonight with Mhaldor (holy crap you had so many people) was a lot of fun.
Despite a lot of my current personal struggles at the moment, this bit of interesting toe-to-toe combat is quite a needed relief and very fun! Eleusis' defenders' attitude has just been great lately, too. I think the best part about fighting Ashtan is no exterminations, so no after clean-up. The difference in the kinds of frustrations (for me personally as a forestal) is pretty huge - I was surprised.
(Stayed tuned for the incoming rants of me getting ganked like a scrub.)

I usually enjoy the raids by Eleusis (Unless it's at 6am, then I"m just button mashing after bashingall night, lol). The one thing I don't like is the auto brazier. Kinda really sucks, but that's life.

If you're using SVO, create a defense mode that you go into upon Starburst that contains only cloak.

Not that, it's the MInd Strip and Instant Brazier. But like I said, not gonna stress it. I'm just glad I'm not losing 7 percent every time I die now and only lose 5. So a rave for that!

oh the irony.
Don't see the irony to be honest. I've never once braziered anyone, @Mithridates and I don't auto target or auto anything.
While I believe you, @Datrius, it's a very common Ashtani tactic! So is things like blackout/lust and similar sorts of things. It does suck, but a monolith will help a ton. Generally if you're getting mind-stripped like that, be on a monolith or get out of city limits for a few moments, we'll move onto a new target and you'll be fine (a lot of our group had to step out fairly often, Scrim was doing a good job trying to radiance/batter the heck out of us).

ENTER GRATE also helps a ton, which is one advantage cities have over Eleusis. We have no sewers to escape mind locks. Been screwed plenty of times getting mind locked inside Eleusis, go to defendable to leave the area and get ganked by group waiting outside.

Drop monos when you (or allies) are being locked
This. I think I annoyed @Rangor when he realized I was just going to drop a monolith and sit down when he was trying to mind throw me into you guys (after the initial afk brazier but whatever ). What kind of scrub do you take me for, trying force tumble, please.
Cascades of quicksilver light streak across the firmament as the celestial voice of Ourania intones, "Oh Jarrod..."
I hear you. During the most recent defence with Mhaldor, we figured we needed to get to a non-EI grove, and I volunteer my grove, duanathar out, think "okay I need a forest room to grove return to", go north... right into the whole group of Mhaldorians.
That's one silly way to die! I laughed pretty hard though.

@Kaiu It's not every day an adventurer from another city steps up to help someone. You went way above and beyond what I expected of any Targossian. Perhaps I will have to change my views and spend more time with them Maybe I fell to the normal mortal mandate and chose to ignore the things that were different. Thank you for all of your help I don't think I could ever repay you.
@Caoimhaen Never ceases to amaze me some of the things you choose to do. I am glad we are friends Ic. No matter what your character thinks of himself he is always there for Sunny. So a big thank you. See you in Achaea.
@Jules Thank you as well Jules for coming to keep me company while I tried to figure out how to replace everything on @Chryseas 's ship. I know you feel somewhat guilty but there is no need to. Had I checked for pirate activity beforehand I would of known to stay away heh.
@Kinilan Well played man. Well played. I was on that ship thinking oh crap *lol*. My first pirate experience and I was unaware really how to act. You even responded to my tells and that mean a lot. At least I put up one hell of a struggle before I went down. You caught me with my pants down and taught me one hell of a lesson. For that I thank you.
The person who writes for @Calanthris, the biography and description you wrote for Andrea in the art exhibit pamphlet totally made my day. I don't know if it is a different person who controls the npc at different times but every interaction I have had has been great.
Kind of had mixed feelings about sinking that ship @Sunny
That was one frustrating ship to put down, I used almost 90 darts. Then all the crew died because the ship had no token stores. That sucked. Some dead crew isn't a big deal because the old crew will train up the new crew quickly. When all the crew dies like that it's a serious loss of crew experience. The sort of thing only serious assholes deserve. Not some kid out for a cruise in their friend's ship.
That aside, you did ok and I'm glad you enjoyed the bit of chat at the end. It's not really possible to chat in the middle of something like that. Too much else to manage. If you really want to learn and get better at handling a ship and maybe get a chance to strike back at those assholes in the Pirates of Meropis your best bet is to talk to Lilian. You won't get anything from Cyrene's Maritime Ministry except a lesson on how to wavecall but @Lilian could teach you a couple things and I hearshe has a ship to arm and needs some crew...
