A big rave for @Ourania and @Twilight. I in no way envy their jobs and fully appreciate the scope and difficulty of the burden they took upon themselves when choosing to play Hashani Gods and more so the determination it takes to actually make a difference in this broken city.
Hashan really has 2 options. It can either embrace the orders that are there and go hardcore Dark/Moon Faction (In which case the avg Hashani so going to get tired of being raided constantly by the other zealot factions) or Hashan can focus on Hashan. (In which case the couple of handfuls of order members are going to be pissed because it's not what they want.)
You can't make people put their faith and trust in any divine and go full force for them. If they wanted something like that they'd have joined Mhaldor or Targossas.
Also going hardcore one way won't bring in combatants to help defend. If said person cared about being in a Dark/Moon faction they'd already been in one of the orders, unless they're just hoping over because it's the active divine are doing it, and in the long term that doesn't do anything because when those divine go dormant those that joined for that reason will follow suit to the next cool new thing.

Hashan does need an identity though.
This whole argument is unfortunately a bit of a non-sequitur Deladan. The entire point of the Dark/Moon movement in Hashan is to help provide them with an identity, purpose and relevance in Achaea, and by saying "Hashan can focus on Hashan." you only further exacerbate the situation by allowing Hashan to focus on nothing at all. That really isn't a heavily Vaehl'd "Wat's a Hashan?" joke either, promise. You guys (well, I guess not specifically you any more) need to have the courage to stand on the stage and bear the brunt of the sheeple chat-room masses that make up the majority of the city stubbornly enough that they all pack their bags and move to Cyrene.
That won't be accomplished by hesitating to do something revolutionary for another in-game century.

Anyone who interprets "utterly hopeless" as "a challenge", views Hashan as a fixer-upper rather than a write-off, and is prepared to dive head-first into that snake-filled sewer has to be a respectable blend of brave, stupid, and ambitious. glhf
I thought it was a fixer upper. Right now, the biggest thing Hashan needs is a reason for Hashani to be proud to be Hashani. No order can do that. That's a movement that starts with the people as a whole. Gotta give them something to believe in.
Before anyone can say "They can believe in the Triad"
Triad's been here a long time. People aren't biting.
From everything I'm hearing, it kinda sounds like Hashan needs a major victory or something that helps define who they are/want to be. Not that I really know much, of course.
Why do people think that Hashan has ever been anything but the city of Darkness? That's their role, and will always be, whether they realize it or not.

That's the problem. For the longest time it was a city that tried to remain neutral to everything. I know several rl years at least.
I've only been a citizen Hashan for just shy of an Achaean year, but (despite the drama) I like it. In my opinion, the aspect of "identity" that Hashan should most strive for currently is one of pragmatism.
I also have no problem with the orders of Twilight and Ourania having influence on the city government, in moderation. The Regency should have a balance of varying ideals.
I admit these are the opinions of a newcomer, however.

That'd probably be something that's not going to happen.

A more fresh and uncoloured view on a situation, if that makes sense.
With the comment regarding pragmatism, how would you see that being put to use?
Although such a discussion may be a bit off topic here.

I think I'm the only one in Hashan's regency right now that isn't a follower of Darkness or Moon or Dreams (gdi tecton where'd my whistling emoticon go)
Aurora says, "Tharvis, why are you always breaking things?!" Artemis says, "You are so high maintenance, Tharvis, gosh." Tecton says, "It's still your fault, Tharvis."
I think you'd be surprised how many would "serious" players would join Hashan if they became a hardcore darkie city. Twilight and Ourania are pretty awesome.
Hashan has always been the city with the greatest potential to become a real force in terms of contributing to the greater storyline, but unfortunately that potential is overshadowed by drama, borderline-oocness and a general overarching lack of taking itself seriously. There are people in Hashan who would rather it be a darker Cyrene and will resist all attempts to push it further onto the axis of conflict, which is a true shame.
Even I considered joining Hashan before I went to Mhaldor, and I remain intrigued by its theme and history, in which it is incredibly rich. I wish the Hashani players and admin all the best in trying to fix its myriad issues - there is already the beginnings of something that could be really great there, it just requires a unifying force. My advice: Be tough where you need to be. You'll be much happier for it in the long run, though you might suffer in the short term.

Could just kick everyone out and start with a blank slate again.
But yeah, fully agree with what you're all saying. Problem is entirely in whether or not the general populace will alienate you because you're trying to bring about a minor bit of change. Too many examples of combatants leaving due to people hating them for bringing conflict into the city.
Essentially. Irl, I think Hashan is dead. I would prefer to start over with Hashan now. Its a complete mess. I agree with @Wei. Thats what I would like to see. But I dont think it will happen.
Anyway. More rave. Less discussion about Hashan. Rave for being completely exhausted irl and running around meropis and getting lost and proceeding to laugh at myself in my delerium. Was oddly fun getting lost and forgetting I am Hashani for a while. Also the raid with Targossas earlier today was oddly fun since half of us were running around going. What do we do? And some of us, like myself were just like. Hell with it. No one is leading. Bonzai! Also good thinking @Mannimar and @Tyamat about moving the guards. Also, rave @Ayleth for saving my ass when i charged @Draqoom by myself. Had no clue anyone was covering me. Was just sick of sitting around

I didn't save your ass - the fact that you ran, did. I just sat there sniping one of them (I don't remember which. I don't even remember if I was using delph, pref, or curare arrows. ) like the noncom I am. (Hopefully serpent combat won't be TOO hard to learn now with the whole 'affliction illusions are dumb, let's make them not work.' thing going on.) you all the same, @Caoimhaen. Big rave to you for having the courage to charge them, though. I'd probably just sit there and attempt to remember my macros for my dstabs.
Similar to @Vayne's post, I'm definitely sending a shout out to @Twilight and @Ourania for being around and trying to help Hashan with everything that's going on and a bigger one to @Valnurana for taking on the mess that is currently the Serpent Lords house. We all have an identity crisis (even though the concept is sitting right underneath our noses in the history and lore and no one is choosing to utilise it. ).

I didn't say either option was really all that good.
I think most of Hashan's problem is that it let other organizations define who it was for way too long, and now it doesn't even know wtf it is.
Make a new thread. Can usually get some good discussion before it devolves into lolHashan

I need to work on my improv skills, I have no idea where I was going with anything tonight. Mostly just wanted to play with stuff <_<
Thanks to @Szeth, @Falthus, @Orzaansyn and @Nimala for enduring going along with it, though. I hope you had some fun with my randomness at least!
