As some of you know I have been working in Greece for the past two months, and my time here is coming to an end. I'm visiting the National Archaeological Museum, and my challenge is to find a new "best" artefact. Considering I have been to many many sites and museums, including working on my own excavation for a long time, the bar is quite high. I now present you with the current winner, from the museum on Crete. It is a Minoan piece that comes from the time before the heroes of Homer are believed to have lived.
This little beauty flew into our backyard chirping a few days ago, exhausted and hungry. He (or she) is a pretty young budgie, and was obviously cared for most of its short life. Florida is, apparently, the state of releasing pets you no longer want into the wild.
One of the housemates named him/her Bluebell. She seems pretty healthy, and we hope to be buying her some friends (and branches/toys) this weekend.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
What's really terrifying is that this is the third tame bird we've gotten this way in the last... five or so years? It depends where you live, but for us at least, cats/dogs seem less common to have it happen, but birds, snakes and other sorts of creatures? It's intensely common. Sad, really.

@Jurixe How many times has your string slapped that forearm guard you have on
I don't know what I was doing wrong (or right), but it actually never did. Because I know I don't have a lot of arm strength, I was drawing and releasing very quickly so that my arm wouldn't wobble. It paid off as I was the best archer of the day, but tbh everyone else was just really bad haha.

So, where I work we often leave the back door open so service users can pop in and out to smoke. This is Boots, (well, that's what we have named it) local stray that we have sort of adopted as it makes the service users happy. She/he sneaks in quite often, so I did a flea check today to make sure it was okay. Not a budgie, but a friendly stray who loves fusses and has apparently made herself at home.

It's actually good. You do nooot want that string to hit you. Mine's hit me a grand total of once. Never again.
Enjoying my time in Seattle, Washington. This is the first day of my trip that it has been Sunny all day! If any seattleites are around give me a holler
