I mean, I can think of physical things I'd like (whole new wardrobe, new laptop, a 3ds, etc), but in honesty, I'd just take the above and be happier for it.

Special shout-out to my brothers and sisters currently still in Afghanistan, or deployed all over the world who have to make due with a makeshift tree and gift packages of beef jerky as Christmas. Love you all.

So uh. So my mom hasn't been feeling well, so I decided to make her a cake. I figured it'd be easy to make it fancy, with a little heart, some writing, a border, and those neat frosting flowers. What can possibly go wrong?



GOD DAMN IT!

I had extra frosting after making the heart and 'Mom', so I decided to add in 'feel better'. Results were not as intended. And good Lord writing with frosting out of a ziplock bag with the corner cut off is difficult! Turns out those cake-people in the grocery stores are assholes for making this look easy.

I studied to be one of those cake people, for a while anyway, and when our teacher would give us a demonstration he'd be all like "you make a spray of flowers like this" followed by his flawless technique and fast piping...then followed by all the students winding up with pretty much green and purple smears and muttering profanities.

Good effort but a little goes a long way, @Tesha. You're the kind of person who has the toothpaste and tubed creams oozing all over the nozzle aren't you?

Just very gently squeeze and move your icing bag. I'm not perfect either, but I practice as I go along.

Or do what I did if you're the child of a nurse.

Use a syringe that was meant for drawing blood. There's syringes and crap EVERYWHERE in this house so we're never out of medical supplies. They're great for accurate icing as you make the dosage...

They actually sell icing pens that look like giant syringes now, but frankly I think it's a waste of money if you're not baking regularly.

Nephew paying his respects to the cat. As is only right. Amazingly enough, my cat's usually timid and pretty jealous of strangers but he's been perfectly content to let my nephew maul him (up to a point).



Speaking of... cat's been odd lately. He keeps sticking his tongue out. Sometimes after grooming, he forgets and just sits around sticking the tip of his tongue out at people.

@Kross : Good idea, really.. I think I need to start getting back into active rock climbing/swimming again too. Looking back at my pictures from more then a year ago makes me feel sad that I let getting grades in a double degree(math/chem) get in the way. I challenge thee again in a month.
