Just need a bit of luck, get 'em up
Point the gun at the eyes
Or at the knees, had to shoot, had to fight
Gonna take out the gunman
Bit of luck, get 'em up
Made to run for our lives
Take out the knees, had to choose, had to fight
Gonna take out the gunman
... Why denied, does no one care or nothing
How, you ask, I ever last so long
Cause I, I went blind, a blinding riot
...
One more tonight, a blinding riot
As I summon every nerve

got these feet in these shoes, they walked a mile or two got these legs, they've done work that left them black and blue got these hips, they are wide but they know how to move got these hands to lift the weak and slap down racist fools mhm, this is all i, this is all i got got this place i call my home, well it's no taj mahal got these pockets, they ain't full grown but i don't steal from no one got this heart, well it's been broke, but it's still beating strong got this song, it ain't much but it helps me to carry on mhm, this is all i, this is all i got got a will that lifts me up when my body can't got a way of getting through with no helping hand got a mind that lends me strength so i ain't afraid to stand got a love so deep in me can't be stopped by any man
And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat I tried to find the sound But then it stopped, and I was in the darkness, So darkness I became
I think is the closest I get to a theme song nowadays.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
I think this is perfect what Tahquil use to be before I came back from dormancy and decided to tone down her superiority complex. Especially the second and fourth verses.
Okay I think I've actually, firmly, found an overall theme song for Mel, whereas most of the previous were just about certain sections of her life rather than the whole. While it's fairly clear whose painted as her "enemy", there's plenty of room for subtle undertones of many other aspects. Victory!
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
I think this fits Tessa the best at the moment. As best as I can manage at least. Her life is rich with opportunity, discovery, risk and reward. While at the same time still not entirely defined from the events of her (relatively) recent past. Something of an adventure.

I'm actually not much of a metal fan, (this is probably the only Heidevolk song I know, so don't start with me, purists) but even without understanding the words, I've felt the solemn-but-hard-edged chant evokes what I might expect from a circle of knights in the Spire, or soldiers in the Shield's mess hall. (Or any medieval setting, probably, which is pretty much Heidevolk's whole gimmick)
Even translated, I think the lyrics also paint the sort of imagery and patriotism most Cyrenians would identify with, if you just changed a few names:
The droveways* of Gelder* are the most beautiful
In our dear Netherlands
Rich clay and moorlands
Streams, woods and hillside
Yonder the Waal*, there the Ijssel*,
Then the Maas and the Rhine as well
Give us the right to, all our lives,
Be proud of Gelderland
Where the fatherland was cultivated
By the Saxon Germanic,
That is where our tribe was born,
That is where Gelderland arose
And the grain that is now harvested
Where the savage wilderness once was
Gives us the right to be proud
Of our true Gelder race
In the villages and cities
Between Brabant* and the sea
Between Utrecht* and Westphalia
Prosperity and peace dominate
With your churches and castles,
With your little homes on the dike
Gelderland, you are the pearl
Of our Dutch kingdom
Yonder the Waal*, there the Ijssel*,
Then the Maas and the Rhine as well
Give us the right to, all our lives,
Be proud of Gelderland
* Gelder/Gelderland is a province in the Netherlands
* droveways/dreven are routes along which livestock is walked from one place to another
* the Waal, the IJssel, the Maas and the Rhine are rivers
*Brabant and Utrecht are both provinces of the Netherlands

Only version on YT that isn't a shitty cover, unfortunately. But at least it's from a good show. Pretty fitting for Ryzeth. Song: Five Finger Death Punch - Cradle To The Grave.

Yes, I wanted to be a crossdressing warrior with dragon canons and a crush on a hunky instructor
That love soon might end You are unbreaking
And be known in its aching Though quaking
Shown in this shaking Though crazy

No question this is Apollodorus's song.
A wordless song, I liked it!

Yep. About how Dela feels most of the time.
@Cahotha Holy crap for literally picking my favorite Metallica song
Totally Aesi yesterday.
Penwize has cowardly forfeited the challenge to mortal combat issued by Atalkez.
