Merry Christmas to those celebrating now, and Merry Early Christmas to the rest of us. I'm glad I don't have to see ANY of my fucked-up family this year. For once, a Christmas where I'm not treated to horrible looks because I have tattoos and holes in my ears. Oh the joy of having a ridiculously religious family and being AWAY from them for a holiday for once. So wonderful. I hope you all have good Christmases, whether you enjoy your family/friends or not, I wish nothing but happiness and cheer for you all. No presents to unwrap but it's okay, we'll have a dinner and the house will be filled with 20+ people and even though I like my space, there's something nice about being surrounded by family. Even the annoying kids and the aunties I can't understand and the rebellious moody teenagers. (I say that like I'm so old.)

Agreed, but Mega Man 3 for NES is the only one I own, so that's what I pull out and play.

So, for those who may or may not know, I live with my uncle.

What people most definitely do -not- know is that my uncle helped to teach me read when I was little, by playing Zelda with me and reading me everything that was said or on signs, stuff like that. I just spent the past hour or two playing games on the Wii with him, and for a while, I was a happy little kid again and we were both laughing and yelling like we haven't in months.

Possibly the best Christmas this year, not because of the presents, the decorations, the food, the drinks, but simply because of how over the period of this year I've come to realise just how much I love family, friends, and life in general; it culminating on this special day. Call me overly sentimental, but as I get older each year I start to understand how precious each moment is that I get to share with my family - they won't be there forever, but at this very stage, I get to see them smile, laugh, and hug. And it makes me very happy.

You know, my uncle and I don't have enough money right now to do...well, anything for Christmas. No special dinner, can't go out, no presents, nothing like that. But, we're not starving, we're not being forced to go out to a family gathering that we'd hate, and we just get to spend a lazy day indoors with some coffee for him and hot tea for me. I can call this a good Christmas, especially if I get him to play Zelda with me later
