Bard vs. Alchemist?

I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me about the pros and cons of Bard vs. Alchemist (or Alchemist vs. Bard). They are two of my favorite classes, thus far, but I've been looking at them semi-seriously.  Currently an Occultist, and I might stay with it too.. we'll see.

Anyway, hope the question isn't too general!

Depends on your focus. Hunting? Alchemist, no question. 1v1 combat? Alchemist. Group combat? Bard probably takes this one, but I'm not sure after the formulation changes. Ratting? Bard, all the way. RP reasons? Up to you.

PS, sorry for not explaining but its 630 and Im running on no sleep, so I'll let someone else do that.

With a full compliment of harmonics, especially with a lucky tick on anthem, dwinnu to escape entanglement and cantata to break denizen shields, bard is a monster for bashing.

Bard is better for hunting, easily. Alchemist, Occultist, and Bard are all good for 1v1. Alchemist and Occultist are much, much easier to play but, as a result, also have less options. Occultist is the best of the three at group combat, imo, though Bard is good as well. Alchemist has a few useful abilities, but isn't as great.

Thank you! I might just tough it out until Multiclassing kicks in. One way or another!! They are all amazing classes.. and this is me just limiting myself so that I can't want every other one as well!
