Hey, we got one creepy/FSOD log, and a Jinsunbedstabbing log. People can claim we RP weird, but we do RP. (Also, yes, Daslin is creepy/weird at this point.)
No, I don't think I do. I'm sure there's something about it in the Occultists files, but I don't want to imagine the hell I'd get for releasing them here. The events post on the Marovingian and the pyramid was really good, I thought.
We should do a thread like this for each city. Would be interesting to see, and might better promote posting your non-secret RP logs for the public to see.

I know Eleusis has some fun and funny RP logs from just randomly standing Atop the gatehouse.
Would be nice to share it with everyone to show some of the RP going on.

Does anyone have any logs of stuff from when the Erisian Pyramid got dusted?
Here's a partial one
An eerie voice shouts, "Behold! It has come to pass that the Seal of
Dunamis is broken by he who wears the Torc of the Archprelate."
An
eerie voice shouts, "As it was foretold, the seven-headed one,
long-imprisoned elder servant of Oblivion, the ancient one who is called
Marvinogian, is free! Alas for Shallam and her people! Alas for the
foes of the Lord of the Abyss! Terror reigns!"
A distant
shattering echoes from the courtyard at the base of the Citadel of Light
as a massive, seven-headed monster erupts from beneath the emerald
Citadel, freed at last.
The voice of the dragon Sohl Vallah, Herald of Ruin thunders, "Hail the Devouring Madness!"
The seven-headed Marvinogian rears high above Shallam, its multitonous chanting merging with the clouds.
A tremendous scream of pain and primal terror reveberates from the Jewel of the East.
The
Marvinogian soars into the air above the Jewel of the East, its ancient
prison. It trails blood both from ancient battle wounds and fresh scars
inflicted by Shallamese defenders
Reaching the apex of the
firmament, the enormous, whale-like creature glances about itself with
seven identical, frantic gazes, emitting a multitonous, pained cry for
aid.
The heavens shiver with foul portent as the rumbling voice
of Babel resounds, "I hear your plea, ancient one, and am not insensible
to it."
The heavens shiver with foul portent as the rumbling
voice of Babel resounds, "You may soon rest. The time has come, however,
that I turn you once more to the destruction of deception, falsehood,
and ignorance."
Then marvy TKO'd the Erisian Pyramid and Shallamese got a cool message from Dunamis. That's in events news.
Anyway, after the pyramid got blown up, the occultists had a party on top of it. Here is a log of me dropping by to say hello.
A frenzied cleric screams, "Like more than one halo!"
I think the last, lengthy RP I ever had with Ashtani was Mathonwy while he was an Occultist.
That aside, I think I have had some (separate) RP opportunities with Taraus (non-Ashtani now!), Rydalgh, his protege and a random Ashtani novice. Oh, and some banter with Kross too, I suppose. He invited me to dinner and I'm still waiting for him to get back to me! Most of these were self-initiated but the Ashtani were responsive. That being said, I'm always open for RP, so more pls.
"Mummy, I'm hungry, but there's no one to eat! :C"
I think part of the problem (in terms of outsiders not understanding Ashtan's goals and Babel's ideology) is just that Babel's Order is so focused on propaganda and secrecy. At least when I was in Babel's Order, lots of the Order's own followers were confused about the ideology. Lots of propaganda = nonsensical public face.
It's the "Chaos" faction because it's a cult of mad men who want Chaos to overtake Creation and consume the world. Nihilism goes hand in hand with the desire to destroy the world, and Freedom is a convenient front for a mad cause.
It's pretty difficult to portray all of this though while having a policy of "Don't tell anyone we're really trying to end the world." So it just ends of being a lot of "The world's going to end!" and "FREEDOM!" without any comprehensible explanation for all of the assaults on other cities and attempts at destruction.
Reading this thread, I was thinking, "I wish I could find that log from when I did that little Occult ritual/experiment with the earth essence after alchies were introduced, and a god surprised me by taking it over from behind the scenes, and everything went spectacularly wrong and an etheric leviathan popped out and flew around it was awesome, and then a couple of days afterwards Enyd voted as Archon to give the alchemist class to a different Ashtani House because the Occultists were 'too dangerous', citing the leviathan as an example of the extraplanar horrors we supposedly kept letting escape."
Then I thought, wait, no. Secrecy! Plus I can't find the log anyway.
When I was an occultist, Amunet (think that's her name), Flair and one other tried to get me to join the occultists house. Sadly I don't have a log. it ended up rather...intense. I refused rather rudely and she was so angry with me she told me to leave her sight before she killed me. I had come to meter just her I think and I ended up being verbally teamed by 3 occultists. After the interaction I was enemies to the occultists. But I enjoyed that a lot.
Then there is the constant rivalry of me and Klochild. We were friends before I went all wacky in the game.and joined Mhaldor and later Targossas. Oh yes.and he was also mad about the time I refused to join the occultists. He has always pushed me in combat and rped it very well. And to this day we argue ig, but have a mutual respect for one another.

There was the time @Lianca ordered you killed for attacking the Chaos Lords. I came for you that time. Didn't RP much then.
For those that so anxiously await a public announcements regarding the shrine destruction, be watching the news. I'll hopefully be bringing something to you all in the next day or so. I have drafted it, just want to make sure everyone is in agreement on our purposes and such.

When I was running for Matrix I had lengthy discussions with Jarrod and especially Taraus, these are the only snippets I saved: Taraus tells you, "Always, always remember that: Everything you do must be done for the -good of the house-."
Jarrod tells you, "Makes them want your guidance and fear your anger, and use that to advance the House, and you'll do great."
Erhon giving me advice on my new position: Erhon Lucoster says to you, "Bend, don't break. It's going to be Hell for you for a bit."
After like a rl week of mind games with Katoreos:
Katoreos Trismegistus rattles: I will speak it so you may log it and hold it against me, should you choose to.
You rattle: Collateral freely given is not to be trusted.
Katoreos Trismegistus rattles: Perhaps. But I like clarity of intent. I do not seek to become owner, master, leader, of anyone. I am too old to be a public face and too cranky to be politically motivated.
You rattle: I think you are comfortable moving people in and out of those positions.
Katoreos nods his head affirmatively.
Katoreos Trismegistus rattles: Which means I was right about you.
You rattle: I don't know him as well as I should.
"Eh?" you say curiously.
Katoreos Trismegistus rattles: I had an initial read on you that I later questioned.
Katoreos Trismegistus rattles: But now I see I was closer in my original thoughts.
You rattle: Pray tell, what have you gathered?
Katoreos Trismegistus rattles: You called Datrius your right hand.
Katoreos Trismegistus rattles: Most leaders have a right hand, which is their support staff, and a left hand, which is the secretive group that helps keep them informed.
You allow a wry smile to grace your lips.
Katoreos Trismegistus rattles: You don't need a left hand because you are your own. The Cyla who is the Head of Novices is supported by the Cyla who is a master analyzer.
Katoreos Trismegistus rattles: You play yourself against both sides.
You rattle: And if I attempted to confirm or deny this assumption, you would be proven correct either way.
Katoreos's eyes sparkle with amusement.
Katoreos Trismegistus rattles: I am rather good at my job, Cyla.

@Halos yeah Lianca was who the other was That's a pretty awesome log. You aim high trying to convert Flair.
It's strange, really - Bronislav was initially ambivalent regarding Ashtan when he was younger - and then when he noticed that most of Ashtan's leadership were raiding his home, he was a big advocate on banning Ashtani in general with entering Cyrene, to take other Ashtani to task in regard to their leadership (Obviously, the majority of the Senators disagreed with the young firebrand twice, along with most of the city). While Bronislav had distaste towards those who would intrude upon his nest, he had a strange sort of pity for those who were decent people under Ashtan's walls. Daslin left the Mojushai, and that disappointed Bron, but Daslin had said a few...Non-Mojushai things before leaving, so at least Bron could understand it.
Until Kross left. By the time he did, Bron was Otoji of the Mind, and Kross was Otoji of...Spirit, I believe? They had big plans to change the Mojushai for the better, and when Kross went to Ashtan out of the blue, he got a lot of scorn from Cyrene - arguably more than I'd have expected from a city of peace. And when Bron confronted him, he said, "Go ahead. Tell me how much you hate me. Everyone else has." And there was this moment, where Bron just presses his hand to Kross' shoulder, looks to him, and says, "Your finding the happiness in your life is what matters. Just...Please, promise me that you won't lose yourself. Be a good person. Remember the lessons that you've learned here, my friend. If you do that, I can never hate you." And Kross smiled, saying, "You know me better than that. I won't forget." They shook one another's hand, and then left as friends.
Fast-forward a bit. Kross and Bron really don't talk, during this time - the former begins raiding Targossas with the A-Team, while the latter is focused on hunting, selling things, getting more profit for his big, shiny artefacts. Bronislav assists Targossas in killing Ashtani on a known pirate ship, helps them defend their city. Kross warns Bronislav to leave the city, before the consequences become too dire (I'm paraphrasing), while Bronislav is essentially going, "Balls to that - you guys came here for a fight after trying to defend the Herald of the Void, you're asking for it." Bron gets enemied to Ashtan, after that.
Fast-forward to the day when Kross raids Cyrene along with the A-Team, yelling about how Cyrene's dependence on Devotion has enslaved them to the Light and to Targossas. Bronislav doesn't have any more words - they did a pretty fair raid, objectively speaking. Unless I'm mistaken, they managed to blow up one of room, and Bron was killed at least once. Kross mailed Bronislav his own ear - Bronislav mailed him something sentimental or another, like a snowglobe. The whole experience hurt the character, and gave him a certain...Harshness, with dealing with Ashtani in general - he doesn't hate them outright, but Bronislav doesn't trust them. He likely never will.
Bronislav hasn't spoken a word to Kross since that raid. This is intentional - for once in his life, the silver-tongued devil knows that his old Housemate is beyond words. Beyond sanity. And it was a lesson he would teach the younglings who would ask him of Ashtan, about an unnamed prodigal monk who had betrayed everything he had once held dear for the sake of glory.
Meanwhile, in the forums, the player behind Kross shit-talks Bronislav for calling guards too often.
I'd like to think that I take what I can from RP experiences - that's ultimately why I play this game. But I know that this game is different things for different people, and maybe the roleplay is emphasized less in Ashtan in favor of fighting. We can rip on those who emphasize it less all day, but it doesn't mean they love the game any less. Just sayin'.
tl;dr, OH HEY, I ROLEPLAY IN CYRENE. MAYBE PEOPLE WHO CARE MUCH MORE OR MUCH LESS ABOUT IT GO TO OTHER CITIES, LOLOLOLO
The first time I defended Targossas was when Ashtan attacked. @Kross tried to talk me out of it. Later he sent me my ear and a poem. And more recent one was when we were having a mind Lock struggle over my city mates. He was trying to radiance them. He taunted me about having a weak mind. Heh. I won that one though.
I think one of the biggest problems is with how other cities approach Ashtan and Chaos. Often I try to roleplay with a distant relative in Targossas and the second I speak to them, I get spammed with tells and OOC messages from other characters about how if they speak with me, they'll be ousted from Targossas and how "I shouldn't try to fuck up their character." To the point that many approach me simply to ask what Nihilists believe and we have a calm, educational conversation where they actually learn. The isolationist RP of the religious cities really keeps newer players from getting out and learning. From what I gathered, most discussions involve "Chaos is bad, Mkayyyyy, and will kick you out if you speak to Jinsun." That's how it was back in the early 2000s when I had my first paladin in Shallam. I don't think a ton has changed. It makes it difficult for me to RP with them and educate them.
That's weird, I haven't gotten that vibe at all. I've had some pretty in depth conversations about what Chaos is and so forth, I got given the Necromicon (sorry, I'm too lazy to go find it's real name) to read and was encouraged to seek out a Nihilist and question them.

I've gotten weird results, and it may have more to do with house or what person the individual is studying under. With you, I got a polite request to talk, and we had a congenial, calm, and what I felt was a good conversation about Chaos. With Lauria, she was fine talking to me until one day I show up and she runs away and I get spammed with messages from Ruca about how I'll fuck up her character. Hated that day.

Yeah, haha, that course of action as come quite a ways. I actually enjoy Kross' interactions with Bronislav in game. I just tease you for the guard stuff here because I can always count on it. Don't take too much offense to it, everyone gets a kick out of it. It just tickles me that you go through a process of wielding/unwielding practically everything to call for the guards, that's all. Verrucht calls guards the same amount, if not more. It's just he doesn't do it with such flair.
On to the progression of Kross. He's always been sort of bent on power and control of his ability. He's a very dominant style character. He maintains his respect, but just has less respect for those that don't progress or grow. He views Cyrene as a very stagnant entity, relying on others to move them at snail's pace. He felt this way while he was Cyrenian, and more strongly now. Kross has seen people he's known from Cyrene go in all sorts of directions, from @Kardal to Eleusis and @Saeva to Mhaldor. He wants to protect a city that will allow him to grow and advance. Cyrene couldn't do that for him. The Mojushai, for example, had no real way of progressing when the House Leader wasn't around enough to approve changes we proposed. The city has sat with the same leadership for 60+ IG years, with only recently changing out Senators. Kross doesn't like the stagnant nature of Cyrene, nor has he ever liked it. And as much as we all like to claim, "I'm going to make a difference.", the reality is it takes far longer the deeper the problem. And with that, Kross looked toward Ashtan as a beacon of progression and strength.
A lot of people just tell me I joined Ashtan so I could be a "cool kid" with Jhui and Co. When I first started considering it, I actually approached Jhui and had a bit of RP with him and the others (Namely Triak, who was the largest proponent of guiding Kross to Ashtan). And, as I expected, Cyrene was very upset at Kross leaving the city. I can only assume they were upset because they liked having Kross around, and wanted to garner more from him. But if that was the case, they would have ensured he stayed by rewarding him for his efforts. Efforts like being the youngest Captain in the City Guard. Being a leading combatant that Cyrene had, that could have been groomed for Minister of War or Security. Future Senator, Future Imperiate, future whatever.
Tl;Dr - Kross is very ambitious (as seen by his quick rise in Ashtan through city and House to become a House Leader at 36 years old). Cyrene couldn't (or wouldn't) progress in this way by any means. Since his time in Ashtan, though, he has definitely taken a more dominant stance over the rest of Sapience and how he interacts with them. It's just the direction I wanted Kross to go. And despite the frustration of dealing with guards, along with tittering under my breath when @Bronislav wields his dirk and whip to call them, I still like the Cyrenian people as a person. Kross even still interact slightly with the few that will talk to him.

Interacting with one of my favorite proteges and family members:
You tell Ethoas Thorngage, "Hey."
You tell Ethoas Thorngage, "You have to do the secret Ironbeard too."
<sometime later>
Ethoas tells you, "Sorry."
Ethoas tells you, "Was mindless."
Ethoas tells you, "What is this ironbeard."
You tell Ethoas Thorngage, "Your punishment is being a secret ironbeard."
Ethoas tells you, "Okay... ahem.."

@Halos yeah Lianca was who the other was That's a pretty awesome log. You aim high trying to convert Flair.
